- In this video, Keith teaches you how to build Dark Ages huts in 28mm scale using basic craft materials. He'll show you a very cheap DIY solution for making a sod roof, which was common across settlements in Saxon England. The techniques in this tutorial are beginner-friendly and can also be used to model other Dark Ages buildings.

Love your tutorials. The fact that you keep the technics simple and cheap, bravo again.
We are very cheap around here!
Deceptively simple, thank you for this tutorial Keith!
Home sweet home...Looks simple and gorgeous, I do like the roof...
Excellent tutorial ! Thanks !

This is where I will be living in one more Month.
True
Thanks guys!
I love your tutorials. Well, I love everything about the channel.
Glad you like them!
Very cool man, thank you👍👍
Great video as usual. 👍
You can also use a pad of steel wool for a thatched roof. For a sod roof the Scotch pad is great.
Steel wool also makes fantastic barbed wire for WWI trench scenes
For 6mm scale you can get stunning result with styrofoam and a hot knife, I just finished the buildings of La Haye Sainte for waterloo
Very nice video
Great work👏🏻👏🏻😅
Cool
Love it
How did you simulate your fields? The wheat and other plowed field. Thanks.

Can you please do a tutorial on a snowy mountain terrain
Where were you guys when I started miniatures back in 1991 ?
What do you guys use for the flock on the roof? Esp that lighter green. I’m having trouble finding it on Blamazon :)
how thick of foam board should i use?
Nice
There is no evidence Anglo-Saxon houses used sod roofs. They predominately used thatch.
Sod roofs are a Scandinavian thing and were used there until very recently.
Why not use the hot glue for the cardboard strips if it dries fast? I have a hot glue gun but not used it yet. Any tips appreciated.
Hot glue would certainly work, but sometimes is can be a little thick under the thin strips of cardboard, looking a bit uneven and bumpy. But if you apply the hot glue carefully and don't overdo it, that works great. I've found tacky glue (thicker than Elmers) sets up on cardboard within 15 minutes.
@@LittleWarsTV cheers!
Hey little wars tv i need to build this for a school project and i am unclear of the dimensions
are they in metres or inches or centimeters
Inches!
@@LittleWarsTV the dimensions seem off to me? should the angled parts be 3.5?
The power is out and it is 11 degrees outside. I'm living in a Dark Ages hut.
Size dimensions unclear my house is now a hut
He guys you used to put a videos with battles every 2 weeks now it's bearly once every month...???
They explained awhile back that this will be the new format so that they can keep producing content year round on a more relaxed schedule. The previous fervant seasonal release schedule was causing all sorts of problems with the creators. They felt burnt out and didn't have enough time between episodes for editing, so it started to affect their personal lives and a bunch of other things.
Much rather have this release schedule and keep the channel going. Their well being takes precedence.
One of our viewers, Yee Wing, explained this very well. But yes, in short, we decided that instead of releasing 2 videos a week for a 6 month period, followed by an "off season," that we would be better served slowing down the posting rate and moving to a year-round format. So you'll still get just as much content over the course of a year, but it will be more evenly paced! This also happens to make our lives here in the club MUCH easier.
