Regarding the characters with limited points (like the Stranger) the idea is that you're supposed to spend more of your time interfering with other people's goals, which plays thematically with the kind of person the Stranger is.
The more you play the game, the more a meta develops. In the first few plays folks are pretty straightforward with trying to achieve their goals. Once it becomes obvious who is doing what, you need to be a little more deceptive, and you need to work harder to stop folks. And as mentioned, character strategies can change depending on who is or isn't in the game.
And finally, regarding the rulebook, if I were to include every possible edge case for every character it would have been ten times as long and be very confusing since most of it isn't relevant in most games. It's just the nature of super asymmetric games. I'm hoping something akin to the Cosmodex from Cosmic Encounter eventually gets created by the community.
Thanks for sharing the development points of view, very helpful! It seems clear that while fun on the first couple of plays it's a game you really want to stick with long term to be able to develop those strategies & metas.

@@craigandrews7544 I think after we added these comments to our more popular videos we did see an increase in subs. Then maybe for a month or so recently it went back down again, but as of the last 2-3 weeks it's gone well. However, we're still in a situation where we have significantly more views from "returning viewers" than we do from "subscribers", so there are people who do come back to us repeatedly but haven't yet subscribed!
@@BoardOfItReviews I believe a major of channels see similar results with over. 80-85% of viewers never subscribing. The subscriber metric is such a bane for content creators, don’t let the numbers influence your journey. You guys do you. 🙏

The setup is something that gets much easier as you learn the layout of the station, but the first one is a doozy. Hope you enjoy it!

Re the miniatures I’m going to disagree here but with an important caveat- they need to be painted. I speed painted the minis before I taught Stationfall to anyone at all as being able to quickly survey the board and see who is where is crucial to enjoying the game, and for me the wooden tokens just weren’t good enough for this. Also once painted (strictly to match the game art) it’s quick to see who the officers are as they all have the same uniform, and all have the officer ability which is handy. Basically painted minis is much, much better than the wooden pieces which are notably better than unpainted minis.
Likely impossible from a cost perspective but this is the one game I own that should have come with pre-painted minis OOTB.
I would say you are agreeing then that they aren't fit for purpose as is! I think painting minis is a skill only a few people have so for a lot they'll be very disappointed, but I can imagine it's far better to use them and have them painted
@@BoardOfItReviews I forced myself to learn to do it at least roughly and then to do it faster - unpainted minis are almost always unhelpful as they just become a mass of grey! Especially unhelpful here though

As each player has the option of choosing their character from a choice of (minimally) two characters, the chances of getting stuck with a character you don't want is minimal. If a player has a really bad character draw and doesn't like either of their choices, I see no problem with affording each player who doesn't like either of their initially drawn characters to discard one, then draw another.

Interesting comment on the 2p game, would you get this if you only played at 2?
I think it's good enough to get if you'd only play at two, but I won't tell people outright to do that. I think it'll become more fun and zany with a few more players.
I preordered this with the minis a month ago, you think that if the miniatures were painted you could read the board better with them?
Yea I think it would be fine if they were painted, although I think they still aren't the best minis. Plus, there are a lot of minis to paint!

It is a shame that the minis suck. I think this is really going to not be a game for everyone but some people will love it.
Yea I mean the security bot mini's base is on the top...so it has to sit upside down on the board?? What is that? Yea exactly hopefully we got that across!
@@BoardOfItReviews Security bot mini has no base. It's supposed to stand on its four legs.
@@Andy-Mesa Having looked at it again you're right, I think the issue is the legs on our bot were so wonky upon arrival that it doesn't stand up on them properly (tended to be at 30-45 degrees and maybe tip over when put down). Because of that, we assumed the flat hexagonal part on top was a base as it didn't seem designed to be put on its legs.
