Rebuilding a Lexus IS250 AWD with a clear title

- In this video we will start working on a new build. It is a 2012 Lexus IS250 AWD and it is a Texas car. It still has a clear title despite being a total loss, it is rust free and I happen to know a guy with a lot of the parts we will need to fix it. Given all that, it made sense to buy this car. It was hit in the rear and has a bit of unusual damage. Let's dive into it and see how much we can get done today.

Living for that trailer reverse scream!! She will never live that down.
Nope 😂
We love and expect it now!
@@vehcor LOL you should link that video so people can see where that reference is from! I like the scream backing off the trailer too...
Will need one of those buttons you tap on and lets out a sound with this one on it. :P
@@vehcor show her that goat that screams and tell her that is what she sounded like!! LOl I think everyone has seen or heard the screaming goat sound haha
It's a wrecksis.
It is now!
😂
Wrexus
Lotta work, more to come.
Lol 😂
A Vehcor BBF (Boring Build Friday) video! Best part of the day. Dripping with hater’s tears and sarcastic comments. It doesn’t get any better than this! 🤘🏻
Have a great weekend Scott.
Have a great weekend as well. Thanks for the support!
Hater's tears? It is more like your glazing is dripping all over vehcor's garage floor. 😂
Enjoying every minute of your vids, quite therapeutic they are. Thanks for taking all the trouble.
What would I do without you Scott! Watching somebody's skilled rebuild broken things with a sense of humor is rare! Please continue going to the gym and don't unalive anybody!
I recently was rear ended badly and had this exact impact on my car the insurance wrote it off as totaled and wrote me a check I absolutely loved that is250 and still do 🙌🏽RIP but I will continue to watch the rebuild series keep it up🦍🔥
Wow someone went to great lengths to shorten it up for aerodynamics. This will be a fun one to watch. Thanks Scott. Stay safe and be well. Have a good weekend
As a is350 owner I’m excited to watch this rebuild journey!
Hey, it is Friday! You’ve ushered it in. Great build as usual. I can’t wait to see the final product, but I know it will be perfect. See you in the next installment.
I has a 2006 IS250. Great little car. Got rear ended. By great I mean it drove amazing. Problem is, it's a fake 4 door. NO legroom at all in the back. Seat passthrough is only big enough for a small coffee. So haters wont be pissing on themselves as much.
Fantastic video, Scott! The voice over commentary of the process is greatly appreciated, as always!
Brilliant video mate - thanks for sharing! Can't wait for more on this car.
Scott another outstanding rebuild! I am looking forward to the next video! Thanks for posting!
I have this same car same color and have been through thick and thin with it insurance wanted to total it when I crashed it as well. But did everything in my power to save it and still drive it every day! Was great to see you do this work!
Engeniaring definition - solve a problem overcomplicating things. Excellent video as always 👍.
Never a boring build on Friday! Too much fun given the car got a good smack in the rear! You make it look way too easy but I know there is skill and experience behind all the levity and good fun, Truly yours is one of the best channels and I always look forward to a new build! Have a great weekend!
Does the pizza girl ever bring pizza? Your being in Chicago,I would expect to see some good pizza.I enjoy your humor a lot.
Great project and as usual, a good backstory. Love the sarcasm and the voiceover commentary. Looking forward to the next episode, have a great weekend! 😎
I start every Saturday morning by watching the latest Vehcor video. Originally got hooked by the Mustang (RIP) but keep coming back for the content and commentary. Keep it up!
10:30 I remember when parcel shelves were big enough for 2 kids to sleep in comfortably! (yes I'm that old hahaha)
Scott trolling clean freaks, safety experts, and internet experts is high level mechanical entertainment. Well done as always. Not bad for a guy who never makes any money rebuilding all these cars as “they” say….😂🤣😂
Little story from my insurance adjuster days.....
At a shop, looking at a 2-3 year old '82 Camaro. Rear hit. Rear body panel caved in. Minor damage to the rear of the hatch. Glass was intact. I opened the hatch to look at the floor, and it wouldn't go up very far. Forced it open just a little bit more and BOOM! Glass exploded. Turned out the hatch structure had twisted and tweaked the hinges........ "Add a used hatch to that estimate, will you?"..........
Recently I rebuilt a 2017 Chevy Cruze with a clean title it came from Waco Texas, you do find some clean title cars that were totaled down here in Texas don't know how it works but works for me! Reason they get "total loss' is because shops charge a lot of money to fix but where I get them painted they charge per job not per hour that is how cost of repairs is low for me, also I do most of the straightening and assembly and part replacement the body shop guy only does the final adjustments and paint.
You the man. Remember like I said before you'd make one hell of an instructor.
I really like the rough pulls on the frame machine to get things to a point to remove them. Was hoping for some sawzall action.
I bought a 2003 IS 300 new drove it for 11 years never once did the check engine light ever come on when I sold it even still had all the original brake pads and battery , never had 1 problem with it . Great car mine had a straight six I think the newer ones have V sixes in them.
I have never seen one with an abbreviated trunk before. Sort of like a BMW E36 318ti but without the creases in the rear quarter panels.
"Let me see. I am nearsighted, lost my glasses but going to drive anyway. Is this Drive?" Slams car 55 mph in reverse, hits nearest stationary object.
Scott the reverse lights work- no problem there! Never mind just hit “the pile” ! Have a great weekend!
Scott I appreciate your channel. One of the best.
Guido's Pro Tip: If you break the fingers of trunk passengers, they can't pull the handle 😉🤣
Most reliable cars ever
Have owned couple of them before and still driving a 2006 IS350
I think this is the 3rd IS on your channel
Very excited
On my 2002 Acrua MDX-- it also has heated mirrors, heated seats, moon roof, duel climate control, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, navigation/ reverse camera, 3 rows of leather seats, memory seats and AWD... I'm sure this has all those goodies too.
Happy Friday Scott!
🥉 Same to you!
My favorite part of Fridays. Thanks for the video Scott.
At Vehcor, we are always pulling for ya. 😎👍🇨🇦
Reminds me of the packer cars they used to use way way back at the clay track here. They'd cut flaps out of the fenders to fit wide tires on, then as the frame rotted they'd cut the whole back off the car so it didn't fall off and keep running it until it was dead. Maroon '67 Buick LeSabre is one I remember that got that treatment.
I just wanted to let you know when you backed it off the trailer you had no brake lights. "Check the bulbs" is what Google said when I looked up the problem.
Oh and you don't know rust pal, you should try living in central Illinois, then we can talk about rust.
Third thing, that car is not worth fixing you should know better. My buddy has one you can buy with an actual clean title for way less and lower mileage and it's faster...😐
OH THAT'S IT! You just called the "screw" a phillips head! YOU MONSTER! That sir is a JIS Fastener. Gosh.... this pisses me off. Especially now that the YT'ers told me the difference I can't stand it when other "pros" get it wrong.
Wait, you forgot the fact that Google and other CZcamsrs say all totaled cars get salvage titles. 😂 They correct me on the Phillips all the time. I’m just going to refer to them as plus and minus and really watch their heads explode!
Nice car, well worth fixing, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching.
For fun - "every car rusts." Friend had a 59 Dodge truck and I think the thing was made out of Stainless! At the very least it was a high nickel content of some sort. Talking the entire body, bed, frame, suspension (if you can call leaf springs "suspension"). It had lots of exposed metal, but no rust damage anywhere. California is good, but that truck was truly amazing. He kept it looking original, why not? It was a truly solid truck and testimony to "they don't build 'em like that anymore!"
My last car was an 88 Toyota Camry. It threw a rod a few weeks ago, and it was SO rusty that my mechanic said that even if I sourced another used engine that he wouldn't install it due to safety concerns. lol. The rocker panels had disintegrated almost entirely, the wheel wells were rusted out, quarter panels rotting away, and the rear bumper actually fell off the car at one point because the mounts rusted into two. I only paid $600 for it though, and it lasted me 3 years. I've had more than enough money to buy something nicer (and safer), but I was trying to be frugal. After it threw a rod I went out and bought a new BMW. The dealership joked about how big of a swing my upgrade was. 😂
Hey! I've got a 92 4Runner that's made of rust! Only thing holding it together is the paint over that rust. Thanks for making my Friday.
I’ve thought about “unaliving” more than one person this week…it’s why I workout and bourbon too! Thanks for another build for us.
Scott is a awesome keep going brother.
Thanks
I just wanna know one thing….does it have intermittent wipers?!?….if so I’m buying it off you now as is….love your sense of humor..literally the same stuff that makes our business tolerable day in and day out…your the best man
I gotta say, you have mastered your craft. Very, very rare.
I miss the Grand Am builds but I still enjoy all the builds
I'm glad you like challenges it makes for interesting videos. Thanks Scott.
Feeling a little attacked over here. I've got 4 cars and all of them have cracked windshields. I do replace them because they still keep the weather out. Plus, the big trucks like to throw rocks at you on the highway. I really enjoy your videos. Found your channel by chance thanks to the mustang build. Stayed for all the great repair work you do and also the humor. Keep up the great content.
It is so nice to see Bauer tools in action. Normally I just see Milwaukee, DeWalt, or some other high priced name. Keeping it real.
In Texas, we put a windshield in oftener than we put fresh paint on. My '97 is on her third front glass....and factory paint, which looks about as bad as you'd imagine. :)
Looks like this Lexus took it up the rear hard with no lube but thankfully it went to Dr. Scott to get it's rear straightened out and fixed back to normal.I do believe Dr. Scott can fix anything after seeing all these videos.
What a good do. Looking forward to the next episode of this repair.
You are the master rebuild guy the auto industry should hire you for their first builds
New tires and no deployed airbags that should drive the clear title freaks nuts!
I really enjoy watching the process…. you take these vehicles… that look destroyed
and with skill and effort….
make them valuable again
Awesome video as usual. I'm shocked Mr. Spotty isn't there popping up and trying to annoy you in some way or another.
As far as you going to the gym, figured you were still going trying to make up the fact that you're vertically challenged and you're in hopes that it'll make up for it.
Can't wait to see more on this one.
Take care.
👍👍👍
Reusing exhaust bolts?! I can't even imagine 😳
Right, I had to drive 1000 miles to get reusable exhaust bolts! 😂
@@vehcor 😆😆😆😆
I can't say I've ever seen used exhaust bolts. They seem to disappear before I look at the new ones I've used a second time.
Love that reverse scream almost as good as the Wilhelm scream.
Nice car, at least it will be when your done with it!😎
Thanks, I hope so.
Lisle part number 38350. Get those pliers and some spray lube you'll never use a pry bar on rubber baby buggy bumpers again. Your videos help me do my job foreal. I take apart interiors and have to bang out body panels and whatnot on top of mechanics. I'm not a pbe guy lol
Good work I like how thorough you are.
Texas - with no windshield damage!! This amounts to an existential emergency!
real treat watchin how the pros do it
Tom Mcdonald music at the end! Good choice!
It sounded like in the beginning of the video that the crickets from Watch Wes Work has moved in to the Scotts compound to troll him!
I owned one from 2006 darker titanium color, my son drives it now, still looks sharp and the engine is strong, just rear leg rooms a bit tight, other than that it's a Lexus product alright 👍
What does clean window shield and Texas have to do with
Thanks again for another entertaining and sarcastic video Scott 👍🏻🏴
Re rust comments: discovered a few months ago that the '22 Sienna has non magnetic, presumably aluminum rear hatch, hood and both sliding doors. The driver/passenger doors are magnetic.
I have known that a totalled vehicle can have a clear title but I don't know how it is determined. I've seen cars with less damage as salvaged title. Perhaps you can discuss the why or why not in a future episode?
I've bought cars with a 'no accident reported' car fax but some one decided to replace doors and body panels with ones that were a different color but repainted = amazing
Amazing the exhaust pipes get didn't even get touched I wonder if the guy backed into something
14:07..... Nifty trick kneeling on the upper rear body panel.........
👍👌👏 Very well done again and as always (video and work). I guess that this will become your daily winter driver? Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing.
Best regards luck and health to all of you.
your overwelhming enthusiasm...lol
great 25 min eating sandwich vid...
great stuff
N x
Car looks well cared for except for the small dent in back. I'm sure once you're done this IS will be a keeper that someone will grab up. Hey, why not keep it for the Pizza Girl as her winter driver. AWD and 3" of clearance should allow her to at least get out of the garage in comfort.
"Rubber baby buggy bumpers" lmao - Arnold Schwarzenegger as Jack Slater in Last Action Hero.
It will be a nice car when repaired. Thanks for the video.
My hat is off to you for undertaking a rebuild like this and hope it is profitable for you...
You're lucky, here in the people's republic of NY even if it's a clean title as soon as the insurance company "owns" it it's considered salvage and has to go through a salvage inspection and have the title branded as such
Your channel is the best.
Thank you.
I still sometimes see a turkey feather floating around in my truck... I hit a turkey about 8 years ago, I've taken 90% of the interior out, and still...
they are breeding in your cowl that is where I found a rodent nest when trouble shooting a wiper problem.
Looking forward to this one!
Lol. Love it when you scream. Driving off the trailer !! Keep it up !! Brings me a chuckle everytime 🤣 😂
Nice! Looking forward to this series... Oh, I think you can save those reverse light bulbs...
welcome back to boring build fridays! hahaha the only thing worse than a silver grey lexus is a beige one hahahahah
Looking forward to this project.
Can't keep haters in the trunk. (Priceless) love the sarcasm
Yeah, sure, we can call it sarcasm. 😂
I love watching the first video of all builds because of the mocking scream
I'm a heavy man by trade and I have not seen a machine like this one since I moved into management and that was 30 plus years ago, heavy lifting.
I rarely get chills but that spare tyre squeaking... Good god
(laughs in Texan) Can confirm windshield replacements. If the gravel trucks haven't gotten you yet, the hail will.
😂
Since they don’t require perfect windshields at the annual inspection I don’t bother until it looks like it’s about to fall out all by itself.
Impressive scott i would never think that could be repairable
Usually i vacuum the glass out first, as much as the vacuum can get anyway..
Good stuff though!👌
Scott CZcams is going insane or something. I usually watch the ads just to help the channel but this video had 4 ads that were 5 minutes or longer, and one that was 45 minutes, the ads were twice as long at the actual video so I skipped the ads, sorry but a Lexus? I would never have guessed that Scotts emporium had Lexus parts, a real variety store
You can tell it's a Lexus - it's had a good wallop but the reversing lights still work....
The vehicle was likely parked when it was hit ... the bags didn't go off ... thats and indicator as well as minor damage to the front
5:00 Lisle tool needed for removing Exhaust hangers
That car took that hit well.... Well built Toyota product
Scott good to now that all vehicles are not a total loss like my Yukon xl that state farm totaled i saw you rebuild one with the exact same damage im still pissed because state farm would not fix mine with no rust only had 3 payments left 😎
You never lose with a Toyota product. Even in it's condition, it's worth a lot
