It will all depend on the level of education the populace has. Once people became educated and lost the "War on Drugs" mentality, cannabis had no problem not only becoming legal but socially acceptable as well.
I have a 24 year old cat who I share cannabis with. It helps with her arthritis pain and she really seems to enjoy the experience. You can't argue with a happy, healthy, 24 year old she-cat. Nor, should you.
I have a 16 year old dog that I give treats to that have been soaked in cannabis tincture from the local dispensary. Before, he would whine and cry every time he tried to get up, sometimes even peeing himself. However, now, with a few tincture soaked treats, he seems to get around just fine, without any whining or crying. It used to hurt my heart seeing him in such pain. Now I feel better, and so does he with the cannabis treats. He even started playing fetch again, which he hadn't done in two years.🫠
24 years is a long life for a faithful companion. I never thought about it but if cannabis helps humans with arthritic pain then it makes sense that it would likely help cats, dogs and other mammals. He’s lucky to have such a caring human.

Yeah, there is an insane amount of profit to be made with drugs being illegal all the way from cultivation to trafficking. If drugs were legal, the profit margins would be way narrower.
