- Watch me build a Coffin for Dracula. This is a halloween prop but it is certainly strong enough to carry a person if necessary. There are no plans, i made a small model from card board as a guide, this build was mostly free styled. The trim is from Home Depot. This is an Alternate edit to the same video published on the Make channel, there is a few slight differences in the camera angles chosen. Thank you to www.longevity-i.... Thank you a for the love and respect!! This build was about 2/3 days all in waiting for glue / paint etc..
Great video as always. Could you tell me how you did the circling camera at around 10:40. Is it motorised on a track of some sort??? . Thanks
oBri550o probably a piece of wood or steel etc., on a pivot point. Maybe a 3 inch screw, they have .75" of flat shank at the head.
oBri550o I think he just had someone hold it up and walk around...
grkpmpn69 That's what i first thought , but its far to smooth to be hand held.
grkpmpn69 Actually you're probably right with a lot of image stabilization in post
I kept thinking you were finished, but it just continued getting better! Great project!
Great method on those compound angles jimmy. Impressed.
Mr. Swan! So glad to see you over here. I still remember when I found your channel a while back. I tried to show Matthias Wandel your stuff but I think he thoughtI was a spam account or something because he responded with "sure I was just about to go do that"
Master praising another Master...
Master Praising another Master
I lost it when you lay inside the coffin for the first time. This looks great. Could easily be someone´s final resting place.
Awesome video as well.
I'm only halfway through and this is my favorite videos yours. Love it!
You know Jimmy's gravestone won't have his full name on it- just a huge etching of his logo
im creasing
It will just be a bit of wood cut out of his bench propped up with the spray painted logo on it ahaha
ولو الشخص المعني لن برا هذا
Masterpiece! Perfect. Best of CZcams.
If I can find the time, I want to build one as a prank, out of marine grade plywood, wrapped in fiberglass, expanding waterproof glue, with paddles or 40hp motor. Scare some people on a pond, then start and take off, in full coutume.
Both macabre and fascinating.
Lots of your videos, since you don't talk, has these "a-ha" moments when I figure out what it is you're doing. This time for me, it was about half way through the making of the metal handles. I couldn't figure out WHY you were going off on making these diamond shaped things. Then, the lightbulb went off.
Great job, Jimmy. Love how you ran off at the end.
I think one of my favorite parts of Diresta videos are the ones where I spend the whole first half thinking "What the hell is he DOING?"
You feeling alright Jimmy? Your stapler didn't have Diresta on it
Thanks for uploading! I've been looking for a tutorial that isn't just for tiny jewlery boxes. This is fantastic!
It is absolutely fascinating watching a craftsman at work. Came here directly after an Adam Savage video.
WOW!!! This is probably one of the hardest builds you've done that I've seen; so many precision angle cuts! A real master, thank you for posting.
It must be a strange feeling building a coffin... and to lie inside too :D
he laid inside it to see if it would close with a body inside
piran to ty ogladasz direste :D wat
***** Feels like closure... No pun intended actually.
Angle work on this build is amazing. Jimmy makes it look effortless.
Gotta respect a man that builds his own coffin.
You can always tell by watching someone who is skilled and experienced in what they do; very nice work.
Hmm. Now I know what to make for the mother-in-law for Christmas. Great video.
Jimmy, I remember a TV show you used to be on. In the opening monologue you said "I'm Jimmy Diresta, I can build anything". I said to myself "That's what every man says", now i Know....You were not blowing smoke!
this coffin is absolutely beautiful, evan the colour black suits it down to the ground. i'd love to own one of these no messin…. great video.
This dude has got it figured out. thanks for showing some of your process.
Now you can go fishing.. Nice boat... 🎣😀
Now this is what you call a master craftsman really nice build .
Damn that's nice work. I spent most of the video muttering "who even THINKS like th...why is...Ooooohhh."
i know that feel
I get it a lot when I watch his stuff.
can you please fill in the blanks? I'm not sure what you mean, thanks)
Needless to say WOW what an artist! And you do it all from the planning, building, constructing the hardware and even the upholstering of the inside! WoW!
DiResta came back to life , you can tell that what he doing is taking a long time . He used to have a long beard , he shaved it , and it grow again
Who doesn’t love Dracula?! And morbid stuff. My favorite Transylvanian tale is The Historian.
Very cool. Love your work, you are very talented. I like your speed and your instinct, that you don't do a full 3D CAD with the angles but figure it out as you go. I wish I had your shop!! Seems to be really fun working in this setup. Keep on!
Totally mesmorizing. This makes me want more power tools. Excellent work
That’s an awesome shop. Nice work
OLÁ JIMMY, MAIS UM BELO TRABALHO,,,UM ABRAÇÃO, SHOW DO MIRO COMUNICAÇÃO VISUAL,,,BRAZIL,,VALEUUUUUU
Halloween prop? Man you could probably sell these!! Not much you can't build I'd wager! Nicely done!
Awesome craftsmanship. Would love one for the house. Great video..
Just on the lighter side my 4 yr old watches some of these with me and recognized what you were making " a vampire bed" and bet you were making a vampire trap. Thought I'd share the humor. On a serious note awesome build
Oh wow the way you built the frame of the coffin was really cleaver!
So much talent wrapped up in just a few people. You just envision it and then build it and it's very awesome to watch it
Just incredible +jimmydiresta A real privilege to watch.
7:50 - OH NO! It's DiRacula!!! :-) What sort of rig did you use for those "orbiting" shots?
DiRacula!!!!! hahahahahaha
Its a quick rig made with plywood scraps and a counter weight on one screw, I hot glue my camera to things....
Nice effect! Thanks!
jimmydiresta "I hot glue my camera to things..."
That there just made my day!
+jimmydiresta man you are creative
Wow! Never knew so much work went into making a casket. Thanks toe the perspective.
Dang it, Jimmy. Now I'm gonna have to build one of these! Great project. I enjoyed watching. Thanks for posting.
I have watched a bunch of your videos. Amazing talent. Disney, MGM, and Universal should all be fighting over you. Wow Jimmy,, just Wow!
i wonder can u draw a circle free hand? cause its amazing seeing how you draw a straight line without using a ruler haha
+Ridwan Sunandar He has a tips vid which explains the line thing and other stuff.
Beautiful. Blew me away 👍👌👏👏👏

Eternity Just A Breath Away
i consider myself a master craftsmen. Great work.. some interesting techniques..
Love the rotating shot..genius
Awesome Build! When you did the trim work I was ROFL and then the handless kept me there. Beautiful work! A few drops of red paint for blood here and there might help! Thanks soooo much for sharing.
I somehow managed to leave my youtube running all night, then get to work this morning and this is playing. I'm not at all disappointed. You have a new subscriber. Very cool
I don't care if I sound crazy but that coffin is stunning! 😍
Awesome! Dracula would love to try this!
Jimmy I am always amazed at your skills. Master Maker for sure. The Count can now come sleep in your basement.
Nice build Jimmy
Wow you are skilled. You have a great collection of tools 👍🏼
I think I´m gonna make a coffin like this and give it to my mother-in-law...hahaha . Master´s job, Mr. Diresta.
I am dependent on its videos are taking too long to send, dont know what to do, give up trembling.
KKKKKKK
Congratulations Jimmy, YOUR TALENT AND MOTIVATIONAL.
HUGS.
that's SICK came out awesome jimmy! i love coffins and hearses
This is what James DiResta shall be buried in, after his thousand-year reign of craftsmanship has passed.
классная работа, как всегда! как-то и не подумал, что можно направляющую для пилы не крепить))
Wow, this olde video came up on my playlist and took the time to watch it. It's 15 min and contains a billion tips and techniques. !!l
Awesome build love all of the complex angles
That's awesome! I love the look of the old style casket, even when just a plain "pine box". You know what it is by its shape. Modern caskets look like glorified shoe boxes, and are mostly made of steel with 10 locks and water tight gaskets. You're dead, its not if you're going to go any where or drown. You're only job is to rot. If I had/could pick my casket I like this one, classic and a little Gothic. Made of solid wood, black walnut or red oak, with a navy blue liner. Again great job.
Awesome! Loved the hand cut miters and the handles especially. Good stuff Jimmy
!!
i have never been so inspired to build my own coffin, until now
I gotta' tell you Jimmy... I watched this video last year and I became an instant fan.

Another great video, watching you work always finds myself saying "No he didn't just do that"...lol....you've got skills! Thanks for sharing!!
That was super cool , Great Job !
Mike
That is bad ass, Jimmy
Strangely enough, I want one....
Nice work Sir
How can somebody unlike this video ? Great job. Very Cool.
Dude, that isn't just a great prop. It's good enough for the real thing!. Great Job.
This had great tricks and treats... I'm always inspired by your work. Thanks Jimmy for sharing.
The sound of silence and machinery is music. I always loved toe pincher coffins.
Jimmy, show us your vampire teeth!
Nice work. There's a book that Rockler sells on making coffins if you're interested (not that you need such a book.) Thanks for letting us tag along with your build.
Love it, making your own coffin !
Now that’s being prepared for the future
Man, your skill set is very impressive. So many good tips here.
Nice build, loved the look of the metal work, it finished it off just perfectly.
Fantastic. Watching you build things is always fascinating.
I gotta have one. Outstanding job.
Yup, just viewed this. You can make me my coffen if you want any day! Good project, good job.
So awesome. Great job as usual Jimmy.
Wow great detail , love the build
Watching you Jimmy in these videos is like watching a fish to water fantastic so natural and effortless. This coffin build is no exception, just awesome so cool.
seeing photos on istagram and waiting for a new DiResta video...this is my week.Great ideas and great works!
Making it into a Drinks Cooler, when you're done being dead and all, would be so cool :D Imagine a Halloween party, where the beers are kept in that :D
Beautiful, quite instructive video-clip!!! I really liked that you included a raised lid in this case - too many people associate a flat lid with such coffins.
How do you determine the thickness of the wooden components relative to a person's weight? This could be important were I to consider the idea of making - or ordering - such a coffin for a very heavy person (150 kg.) almost 2 metres tall, of medium build and not all that fat. Thanks in advance!!!
Man, you guy are just amazing !!!!!
Lot of your work is certainly inspirational... Thanks for sharing....
este cara foi o melhor que já vi ate hoje.
That's gorgeous.
Incredible... As always
Thanks!
NICE!!! I think a little color contrast one the inside of the panels would make those handle look even better. Spent a lot of time on those diamonds, why not accent them with a dark red, similar to the fabric. Also, the spiral edging, paint that a metallic color to match the handles.
Thanks for the videos. I enjoy them all.
I had not known why I have looking this, now I know fascinated with this video.
Master Jimmy!... you freaking rock!... Can I be your apprentice?
Mr. Jimmy Diresta, always exceeding our expectations!!... Cheers from Brasil bro... I'm a big fan of you!!!
Spooktacular video as always Jimmy.
I had thoughts of the internal mechanism where vampires in movies float to standing, but this is great as always.
That's the kind of shop I would love. Still, all those tools and such a great shop and he doesn't have an electric stapler? Hunh.
Yeah. I dream of that shop sometimes.
