Jaw Dropping Dresser Makeover!! Putting BURLAP on Furniture!?

- This dresser makeover was a tricky one for me, sometimes what you see in your head doesn’t pan out the first go around, but you get as many tries as you want so no worries!😅
I added some textures with paint washed burlap fabric, add some furntite legs, do a paint dip technique and even do a bit of detailing Pottery Barn faux wood style (tenique credit over at @blacksheephouse)
Hope you guys like the end result! Thanks for watching and your support!

Great video! I just stripped a mid-century hallway bench and posted a video. Love giving old furniture new lifw 🙏🏻
That’s awesome! That style has really come back around for sure!!
It turned out great! Beautiful work!
Thank you so much!! 💛😊
Great work, fun to watch all steps to refurbish this dresser and make it so nice!
Thank you so much!! 😃 I really appreciate that!! 💛
This turned out so nice! Seriously..!
Thank you so much!! 😊
I think it's very pretty and you did a great job. (More patience than I could ever have!) But I question the longevity of the burlap and the difficulty in cleaning it.
Very high end. Clear shower curtains from the Dollar Tree work nice for covering stripper
Thank you!! I appreciate that!😊
That's a good tip for using stripper!💡👍🏻
It’s gorgeous!
Thank you so much!! 😊💛
Love it !!
Thank you so much!! 💛😊
Love it!
Thank you!! 💛💛
I love the burlap and the finished product. So beautiful! What kind of brush are you using to create the pottery barn finish? I can't tell.
💛Thank you so much!! For the streaks you can use any kind of thick bristle broom handle like a small corn whisk broom handle or masonry brush type bristles. But first you want to get an even coverage and brush back any excess with a regular thick deck brush or another large paintbrush with soft bristles, and then go in with the really thick bristles of a broom handle or something of that nature for the final streaks 😊
This is so pretty!!
I would try oxalic acid to lighten the wood. It does a wonderful job.
Thank you!:) I had just purchased a bag full on Amazon, I’ll have to try that next time!! 👍🏻
@@therefurbishedlife It's a game changer!
The cream really did go better with the fabric! I think it even brought out the color of the fabric a little bit.
How much extra time did you need to take to re-do all the painting? Seems like a lot of effort!
Thank you!! I think it did too!:)
It took probably took an extra 3-4 hours between priming and painting, clear coating adds time as well. Sometimes it’s hard for me to gauge, because filming the different shots adds time. It a bummer when you start over but, I think the extra paint time is worth it to make it some thing that you really like in the end, or especially if you’re doing furniture to sell, you can be confident with your asking price 😊
Nice style
Thank you!! 😊
Wow❤❤❤🎉
☺️thank you!! 💛
What type of glue did you use on the front of the drawers for the burlap? I saw you used wood glue on the edges but not sure on the front .
I used wood glue on the fronts as well, but you could use any strong glue you'd like 👍🏻 😊
It looks beautiful
Thank you:) I appreciate that!!💛
Can’t lie to you mamas, your work is unreal. Your attention to detail is phenomenal. Truly. Is there a way I could maybe send you a table that I make and you do your magic to it? Been making a lotttt of requested farmhouse type entry tables and coffee tables. I want a higher end piece tho.
Thank you, that's really kind of you to say!!:)
That's awesome that you're making all your own furniture, sounds like you've got a great business going 👏🏻👌🏻 I really appreciate you wanting me to do a custom for you, I've been slowing down on some custom orders lately and I haven't gotten to doing shipped projects yet, I'm sorry. That's kind of you to consider me working on a piece though, thank you!!
@@therefurbishedlife No that’s okay!! I have seen plenty of folks do refurbishing and you are definitely one of the better ones!
@@jdthnt 💛That means a lot thank you!!😊
@@therefurbishedlife No problem mamas ❤️🙏🏽
@jdthnt Hey! Did you happen to send a message via Facebook business page? It won't let me reply, sorry if that was you!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you!!! 🥰💛
On top you applied primer then white paint, and then grey paint for that brushed look, right? Any suggestions for paint so that both layers dont get mixed together.
Yep, so you would typically do primer and let that totally dry, then your base color of paint which will be the one peeking through a bit when you do the brushing technique on the last layer (and let that totally dry) and then for the last layer-the glazed brush look you can get any color you like, for this one
I mixed valspar mixing glaze with some paint and some stain. But you could also just use antique glaze or gel stain, it just needs to be something that won't dry up too quickly and has a good flow for making that brushed layer. If you're using a gel stain, one of my favorites to use is Varathane "Briarsmoke" Gel stain (which is thicker than regular stain) or many people like Rustoleum "Java brown" decorative glaze. The briar smoke is on the gray side and the Java brown is on the warmer brown side.
@@therefurbishedlife Thanks a lot for the detailed explaination. ❤️
@@orionRuse Sure!!😊
Hi, I messed up my table.
I spray painted with matt black and now I see glossy spots everywhere(I'm guessing I spared more paint there)

Any idea how to fix it? Reallt dont want my 3 days worth work to look ugly.
Hi, I messed up my table top.
So, I spray painted matt black and the end result was some glossy spots, I guess I over painted those spots. Any idea how to fix it?

You are very kreative
That’s kind, thank you! 😊
You are welcome, friend
You had me, until you glued stuff on the drawers. Yuk.
