The song, which is first sung in episode 3 of the first season, is presented as in "Asgardian", but the language used is plain and simple Norwegian (though the accent is not the neatest).
Song written by Erlend O. Nødtvedt and Benedicte Maurseth.

When Thor is drunk: Becomes depressed and somewhat useless.
When Loki is drunk: Creates a Billboard hit.
Good one.
Well, he IS the Norse God of Mischief.
I wonder what Loki would think if he were to see Thor that way?
This is one reason why Loki is better than Thor
That's pretty much it
I love the callback to the first Thor when Loki says "another" and smashes the glass on the floor
I guess it's the Asgardian things

That was improvised by Tom Hiddleston too!
That so made me laugh that Loki is acting like his older brother when he’s drunk!
@@margarethmichelina5146 its a viking thing.

I think that was the joke.
Him and Thor are so alike despite the differences. Him saying that he is full instead of drunk reminds me when Thor went to grab his axe and the dwarf says this may kill you, to which Thor says "Only if i die" lol
Pretty sure that was the joke

Jokes apart, Tom got a phenomenol voice.
He does.
yeah
He played USA country singer Hank Williams in a movie called I Saw the Light, and did his own singing in that one. An added bonus: Elizabeth Olsen played his wife. The movie came out in 2016, one year before Infinity War.
His singing in I saw the light is great you should check it out.
Yes, his voice is nice 👍🥰
I love how in the show that NO ONE asked for: Loki gets humiliated, goes through an entire story arc in one episode, comes to the realization that he hurts people because he sees himself as weak and seeks attention, learns self-love, and gets drunk and sings in Norwegian. I am so glad that this show exists.
I've watched each episode at least twice to pick up on the more subtle nuances and this is pretty much what I thought.
This is the redemption arc ive been wanting for like a decade
@@rattoota Yes yes yes 😊
Truly is wonderful. It's a different type of development than OG Loki got, but still development. OG Loki loved his family, and this Loki learns to love someone as a friend and to fall in love. And though Sylvie is a different person than him, not related and only the same in role assigned, she's still like him enough that she helps him come to terms with who he used to be. To accept his past and to accept and love himself. It's unfortunate that there are people who misinterpret it. It's such a wonderful show.
@@time-a-wasted ^ This!!! 100% this!! I'd like to think in my head that Loki via reading through his file from the TVA was able to piece together everything else. He might not have been there himself, but knowing it happened? He was able to immediately put himself into what he saw. Hearing Odin say "my sons" - this Loki knew it meant him too. (as an example)

At first I thought "fair maiden" was reffering to sylvie until I realised, he was never reffering to her. He was sinnging about his mother, he just found out days ago HE caused his mothers death. That's also why we see him getting drunk, we've seen him drink before but he's never gotten drunk like most asgardians. He's grieving. I hppe we see more of it in the series
**Proceeds to have a heart attack at the realization**
yeah plus his mother was called fair maiden
And he never come home.
I did not need this realization.... 😥
Also Mobius was wrong about Loki. He is tad-bit narcissist, sure. But that's not his reason to fall for Sylvie. She is like his mother in many ways. Or atleast you can see similar admiration for both.
As a Norwegian, I want to point out the joke at the end. "Full" is the word Norwgians use for both "being full" and " being drunk".
Also, for an englishman with a heavy accent, his Norwegian is pretty good.

Insightful!
The translation: "In stormy black mountains

Great observation
Now I just want a Disney plus series that shows us Thor and Loki's adventures around the 9 realms.
Me too💚❤
I would give up my first born child for this
Or maybe them traveling incognito around Midgard....complete with flashbacks about their childhood shenanigans. If Thor's story about Loki transforming into a snake and tricking him is anything to go by, these 2 bros would be chaotic travel buddies.
I'm pretty sure there is some comics about their adventures as teenagers, but the only one I actually founds was "Thor & Loki: Double Trouble ". I am yet to read them, but seems interesting nonetheless.....
English's not my mother language, so I apologize for any grammatical mistakes.
I love how Loki is not pretending here, feels so.. Free? Coz he far away from home, far away from known people, he confused, but relaxed at the same time, and have no need to pretend someone else anymore. And I like how he behave really asgardian coz I doubt that he would doing stuff like that if Thor was there :)
just remember, how Thor broke mugs all the time, apparently this is something Asgardian😂
I truly believe that the part he sings in a slow pace he is referring to what he believes his mother must be thinking whenever he is not home, always continuously waiting and wondering when he will return. this makes sense since before he got drunk he was talking about his mother which made him feel very emotional considering how much he loves her
Right? Everyone seems to think it's about Sylvie, but I see the line about the apple orchard as a clear reference to Frigga. Some modern versions of Norse mythology show Freya (who is basically the same as Frigga) as the keeper of the golden apples of immortality.

0:48.
Loki's voice, the way he looks at Sylvie, the vilolin, and the lyrics:"The fair maiden is in the apple orchard.", all of this *SCREAMS* love. He didn't fell for her because she is a female version of him, but because like him, she is a person without home, family, friends, who never had a real connection in her life. They are both lost souls, with only each other to hold on to. Beautiful and sad.
I agree, I think Mobius was well off base when he said it was pure narcissism. She has been shaped by a completely different existence to him and he doesn't see her as a varient of him- more a soul mate.
Now that I know the lyric translation it makes my shipping heart even happier. I sensed that he was singing something about Sylvie the way he looked at her and this confirms it 😻
:''''')))
@@squidge125 I think Mobius was just trolling him.
They very clearly aren't the same person. Because they were born two different genders, their DNA is not the same, and on top of that they have two separate consciousness and somewhat different personalities. I would argue that even Infinity War Loki is technically a different person from this Loki because of the separate consciousness thing. It's almost like identical twins; they may be genetically identical, but they are two different people with two different souls. Loki and Sylvie would be more like fraternal twins, who are no different than regular siblings born at the same time. Unlike most siblings though, they were born in different universes, but got named the same thing and filled almost the same role in their respective histories.
However, unless Sylvie's birth parents are somehow different than Loki's I still don't ship it, because that would make them still genetically the same as siblings, even if they aren't the same person. I get the feeling they will probably address this and say that her biological parents really were different than his so they aren't related, because if they don't, it will get really weird really fast.
The part where it turns into a ballad, the way Loki sees Sylvie and she lift the eyebrow like she doesnt know the song, and the look on lokis face, for me it meant that he knows sylvie its not a variant of him, its just a feeling

As the series progresses, and the more I watch this clip, the more I realise the depth of Loki's character. The series very successfully captures the essence of Loki's character, better than any of the movies, obviously. Moments like these show that Loki is not very different from normal people: he likes to have fun and make friends, while valuing his personal space. He is lovable and in search of love. The limited vocabulary of human languages makes it difficult to elaborate on the matter but I will say this: Loki is one of the greatest characters to have ever been created, made all the better by the marvellous Tom Hiddleston.
