      There was a face mask with a lot of bad reviews saying "I only left it on for 10 or 15 minutes and it burned my face" The instructions were to leave it on for 3-5 minutes. This was many years back and it was my Favorite of all time but I haven't seen it in years and I blame those people.

      Sephora makes these great moisturizing foot masks (they’re essentially just lotion in disposable socks). There are so many reviewers that say that they’re disappointed the foot masks didn’t exfoliate… It feels like it’s getting harder and harder to find honest reviews from knowledge people!

      People also leave negative reviews when something is discontinued, even when they love the product. One of the hardest things to sift through is when a product goes through a formula change, and there are older glowing reviews, then newer negative reviews, or the other way around-like the average amount of stars is low, but all the new reviews are 5 star because the product changed for the better.

  • @swesttttt
    @swesttttt Před rokem +117

    I think you need to do this experiment with Ulta. Because they’ve got drugstore items, I guarantee you that you can build a whole face with items that are 2 stars and below.
    But I also bet you could find at least one product in there that’s actually decent. I think people are more critical with cheaper makeup that doesn’t have the sort of brand loyalty attached. And when you spend 45 bucks on something, it can be harder to admit it’s hot garbage. 😂

    • @guitargirl9714
      @guitargirl9714 Před rokem +4

      I totally agree. I think the only way to really have an unbiased review would be a “blind” test, for people to not know what brand they’re using. Of course the logistics of making that happen are a bit unrealistic. But yes, folks will be way more loyal to their ridiculously overpriced CT eyeshadow quad than a less expensive product. God forbid they admit that they way overpaid just because of brand name and fancy packaging. Charlotte thanks y’all for her new house in Tuscany!!! 😂

    That Tarte creaseless concealer gets a lot of hate. I actually really love it as a person with very dry skin. I don’t use it for everything, but it’s great under the eyes or anywhere I’m experiencing dryness. It does crease around my crows feet - which normally I do not crease there at all…. So I use a thinner more brightening concealer for areas like that. There is no single concealer that works for everything on everyone. Different formulas have different applications.

    I've been using the Glamnetic lashes and liner for a bit now. My biggest gripe with the liner is that the product flow is inconsistent. Some days, the pen is working, and others are a fight because it's kind of dry difficult to get a good line. Maybe it's the magnetic formula since I have had this with nearly every pen. I have tried other magnetic pens and didn't have as much of the problem.

Especially for liquid foundation/base/sunscreens and liquid blushes, bronzers and lipcolors. I buy cheap; the men's shirt section at Goodwill usually has at least one that fits and will work. Perfect test for fallout from powder products, too! Also it's a good test for laundry detergents and stain removers. Never wear a favorite on camera if you're going to be applying makeup. Dark Heather Gray works well for those makeup days! PS That concealer did nothing for the darkness under your eyes. Maybe you should try a color corrector before the concealer -? The Tarte concealer is my absolute favorite and has been since I was 22 years old (10+ year title). I feel like the majority of the poor reviews are due to user error. The trick is to put it where you want it, and LET IT SIT on your skin for 1-3 minutes (I normally put on lash primer & mascara in the interim). After a few minutes, pounce it into your skin with a sponge. Then complete the rest of your makeup and come back to the concealer at the end, pat away the creases, and set. It will initially crease (as all concealers do on women 30+) but if you tap it out and immediately set it, it will remain creaseless all day. Sometimes I don't even set it (after initially patting it out) and it still doesn't crease on me throughout the day (I have very dry skin).

      or as other people are saying, tap it in with your fingers. the warmth of your fingers helps blend out the product beautfully. Definitely wouldn't recommend a brush though.

    I actually LIKE the tarte creaseless concealer. I wear minimal makeup daily and save the glam stuff for speacial occasions
    What i like about it is if you use a MINIMAL amount - and a small amount goes a long way! - it is the glowiest, beautifuly smooth, creaseless undereye concealer i own
    Just brightens my face amd makes my undereyes look so fresg

    A lot of times people aren't using the products correctly either. Like you can't pack powder on a foundation and expect it to not crease or look not powdery. Make it make sense.

    The mlm I believe you’re talking about is Lipsense by Senegence. I personally like it and still wear it. I’ve tried other long lasting and I’ve noticed the differences so I tend to go back to my lipsense. I’m not exclusive to it, I wear lots of different lip brands and products. I’ve noticed as I’ve gotten older (I’m 41 soon to be 42) my face needs and likes have changed. I’ve never trusted the reviews because I feel like people don’t always read the instructions and post complaints that make no sense. Also I’ve been on the hunt for a new mascara, apparently at 40 my eyes just started to tear more and I have major mascara running issues, including waterproof. I’m a desperate person looking for a good mascara!

    Cheap alternative to dampening or mixing medium...a very tiny amount of most regular eye drops - not a full drop, just dampen the brush. High impact, and a bottle lasts forever...

    I had some of the Lipsecse products - with that one you did three thin layers of the lip colour (letting it dry for about 5 seconds between each layer) and then you topped it with one of their glosses. It was quite drying on it's own (without the gloss) but wasn't bad overall for me. I did like mixing colours - two layers this, one layer that etc. as it helped me work out what tones worked for my colouring.

    I love the Benifit California Kissing colourbalm. Doesn't get good reviews either because of the word balm. They say it gives to much colour payoff to be a balm... But if you judge it for what it does, I think it's a lovely product.
    So for reviews I think it's important to use different sources: online reviews on different platforms, content creators, your own experience...

    I loved the Benefit powder years ago. It fell off when Benefit changed the formula. I used it as my foundation, and under my eyes w/ out concealer. It looked amazing and was easy to apply. I used the enclosed sponge and brush. It suited my skin extremely well. With the new formula, I can’t achieve the same look. It doesn’t give me the same coverage, and looks cakey. Now I use it as a light powder over my liquid foundation. My disappointment is real.

    I don’t really trust Sephora reviews because there are so many where people obviously don’t understand what the product is supposed to do or how to use it. Or people will review things they haven’t actually tried. I used to use that Tarte BB cream, I have super oily skin so it worked well for me. My only complaint and the reason I stopped buying it is because the shade selection is not great and I had to buy two shades and mix them together to get a decent shade match.

    I’ve got the KVD eyeshadow primer. I got it when it first came out. It’s more for natural looks. It’s super sticky and I suspect all reviewers didn’t follow directions. A little goes a very long way. It creases because they used far too much. It’s not really one I grab because I don’t generally do natural eyeshadow looks.
