    There's a romanian pickpocket gang operating on the bridge and within temple bar. One has a dark, short to medium beard.
    They all wear dark clothes, and are medium build, medium height.
    Usually three of them, but never all together unless they're on their break - one grabs, and passes it to another.
    When spooked, they disappear like silver-fish in a kitchen with no floor at 2am when the kitchen light is turned on.

    From what I’ve been hearing, Dublin’s boardwalk is no longer safe - it would need armed Gardai and armed military (in fact all of Dublin would) to make it safe, especially late at night - in general terms, when I do come home to Ireland from Manchester, even in daytime, I feel far less safe in Dublin than I do in Piccadilly Gardens “crackie gardens” in Manchester

      Just stayed right by the Hapenny Bridge last week. It’s perfectly safe.

      Armed Gardaí and Armed Military? I think you are being a bit over the top with that

      I was threatened there 10 years ago.

      @@allthingskeithgod almighty please don’t. We need you alive! On my way to work this morning the fire brigade passed me. Turned the corner, burnt out car and the guards speeding to the car. Last few years don’t feel safe where I live anymore. And it used to be ok. This was at about 9am. Forgot to say I’ve lived and worked in Dublin City for over 30 years!

    Not just the boardwalk. The city as a whole.. brought my children to a show at Christmas.. as we’ve done for years. But after what my children witnessed, we won’t be going this coming Christmas.
    The place is an absolute dump. No longer the town I loved so well

      Dublin was always dangerous as gardai are negligent. Simple as that.

    • @almon799
      @almon799 Před 2 měsíci +5

      @@Prodrive1 it’s not as simple as that, I grew up in stonybatter, and I remember walking into town by myself, picking up groceries for my grandmother, stopping off at the butcher’s in Moore st. The city was safe. I’ve moved out to clonee now, and I would not let my children walk to the local shop, which is 15 min walk. So no! Dublin hasn’t always been dangerous

    • @allthingskeith
      @allthingskeith  Před 2 měsíci

      It's no more dangerous than any other city.

    Reasonable commentary - small drug deals regularly take place on - or in the vicinity - of the boardwalk - they lend “a less than salubrious air” to the place - it’s been a problem in Dublin for years now - that said, your footage shows a pleasant experience is possible - think of the swans and their elegant passage along the Liffey - rather than the poor souls who’ve unfortunately succumbed to the “dead end street” of addiction ……..

    • @allthingskeith

      Thank you for the eloquent comment, I love the use of salubrious in a sentence. You are right about the poor souls.

    I adore Dublin. It was my favourite city in the world - it didn't have any real architectural redeeming features for a capital city, it had something more important - it's people. That was the undeniable attraction - the Dubs.
    Dublin today is like a battered auld bird, with too much slap on. From the shoddy murals and graffiti, to the Mediterraneans putting locks on bridges, the destruction of Moore St and the third world shanty shops of Dublin 1, to the honky tonk monosodium glutamate fast food joints - it's a mess. It's so sad.
    It's lost it's charm - it can be found in some of the auld pubs though, what's wrong with a cup of coffee and an auld toastie I tell ya.

    Worse time of the day to do a real boardwalk video.
    Start at oconnel street and walk up towards hapennybridge between 6pm-3am
    Thats when you see what it's really like.
