I was born and rared in Dublin. It was a brilliant city. Full of character and charm. Sadly it's all been lost. Nowadays it's like spot the Irish person. Stabbings on a daily basis. I wouldn't step foot in the place again.
Dublin charm was stripped by the powers. The charm was the people , the street traders, the laugh the fun. Historic buildings torn down because of our history. All planned regress of our once lovely city to suit others !!! I wouldn't step foot in the city if I was paid to !
My dad was Irish and he'd take me on the boat from Holyhead to Dublin when I was a kid. Even though I'm not really Irish, I used to feel really proud to visit and see a real Irish city, it felt more like my own culture than England did because of my background. I would never go again now, it would upset me to see a new culture taking over, I've seen it in so many cities in England and it's never been a positive, it's ruined so many places
Imagine dublin in 20 years time or even 5 to 10!! A foreign kip. Vote real Nationalists on 7th June to save what remains of IRL. Lots of choices... NP, IFP, Independent IRL, Ireland 1st etc.
Had my first proper session in the plough aswell about 16😉 Many great times there in the early to mid 90s with the Asylum just up the road, Best party days of my life me and so many more had great times back then🤯 So sad to see whats happening now, Place is a powerder keg waiting to go off dam shame☘☘☘
We could go to the cinema at 8 years of age on our own , hop on a bus to the city, into the savoy or adelphia or carlton , get a bag of chips or an i e cream in fortes restaurant or the one on abbey street opposite wynns hotel, imagine trying to do that now ? Would you let your child go to town now at age 10 ? And why wouldn’t you ?
Irish ex-pat. I haven't been back in 5 years. I didn't realize the Woollen Mills store is now a restaurant. I wonder if the Winding Stair still has its bookshop, or is it just a restaurant too? It's certainly not the same country I left in 1985. TBH, I wouldn't feel that safe in Dublin now with the new arrivals.
A STORY from a fellow DUB you might appreciate... It's the EARLY 1980s... MYSELF and the then GIRLFRIEND are to see a play at The Abbey. We arrange to meet at THE FLOWING TIDE... (A bit of a reach as I was 17 at the time, Helen was 18...) WE THINK, or I THOUGHT that we were pretty bohemian... We go in and HELEN walks to the bar to get the drinks in... (Glass of draught Guinness for her, COLD PINT BOTTLE of Guinness for me...) The BARMAN says, "Lookit love, I've no problem wit yourself but I can't serve the young fella..." True Story. (I was mortified...) xx SF
Hello Keith, ye legend loving your vidoes, you got recommend from a friend when i was going to tenerife 😎 you should think about doing tour guiding course, im a taxi driver in Dublin and just near the end of the 3 month course for the level 6 national tour guide badge 😎 and can use it all over Europe. You would be deadly ✌️😀
Ah class Keith 🙏 only all new to me, driving the taxi nearly 2 years now. such an amazing country we have so blessed. Probley see you around town or something one of the days 😎
@@allthingskeith By the way, did you ever come across a man called Hedley O' Connell, from Dublin who had a bar in Tenerife ? This is some years ago now and I doubt you ever met him. He had a son who played in Pete Doherty's band 🇪🇦
The thing about the Irish is that they never could say a good word about their own country. I'm near 66 years old and all I've heard all my life is how useless Ireland is. It's engrained in the Irish people to continually put their country down. Always comparing it to Britain and USA which is not like for like. Why doesn't this guy go to the fantastic museums and restaurants and much more that Dublin has. There is a whole lot more to Dublin than what is shown here. Go to to New York and pay 10 dollars for a small bootle of Coke and 35 dollars for a basic pizza. If Dublin has 'lost it's charm', then why do 100s of 1000s of tourists flock to it annually? I could go on.
I never said a word against my city or country. I do talk about our museums and art galleries if you look at my other vlogs. In this video I show a tiny part of Dublin and ask for your opinion.if you watch until the end you will hear mine.thank you for the comment 👍.
You must have missed the numerous vlogs he's done on great places to Eat, Stay and Visit around Dublin then not to mention The fabulous places that a lot of tourists don't often think of going to see!
Irish eyes not smiling no more our beautiful country has been ruined by the government needs to get out out ❤❤❤
True 👍
Fact
Dublin did not lose its charm it was taken

Stumbled in to the gigs place near Kelly's corner many a morning.
Yeah Dublin is a kip, it was never all that great looking but it was pleasant back in the day, not so much anymore and we all know why.
Thanks mehole and varadkar
It's a kip.
robbed of its charm.
I was also robbed last time I was in Ireland. 6 black guys jumped me and got everything. ruined my entire vacation.

Dublin was a great city for decades after the 90’s it has declined into a complete cesspit hopless and finished.Call it out as it is….SOULESS
That glass building box over the church looks stunning, mate.
It's a very clever piece of architecture.

Still worth fighting for, my city for better or worse.
I absolutely agree.
I used to go to the winding stair in 1992 and get a soup and a sandwich for £5. Times have changed

Funny that, I always say Dublin is getting Like NYC..
@@allthingskeith that is not a good thing. last days of the roman empire.
When I was a kid and pretended to be sick to get off school, my da would say, "Stop Abbey acting." it was years later I found out what it meant

What British city is Dublin comparable to in size?
Manchester
Glasgow.
Population of Dublin 1.284 million
Glasgow 1.7 million
Population of Manchester 2.8 million
Yes, I'd say Edinburgh or Glasgow are about the same size.

I never understood the Irish concept of converting churches into pubs, restaurants, offices... etc.
It's not just an irish concept. Catholicism has dropped off so much in the past number of years, and a lot of them are listed buildings
