    My son had a seizure and he lost his license for 12 months. If she was having seizures, she had absolutely no business driving.

      I could be wrong, but it didn't sound like those kinds of seizures. It sounded like her legs suddenly spasms, and she has a hard time moving them. Either way, she should NOT have been driving!! Also, she shouldn't have been drinking!

    My dad gave up his drivers license when his health started failing. His reason “I don’t want to kill someone”. I’m am so proud of him, he was a wonderful dad!

      I have a medical condition, and occasionally have problems with MY legs. Guess what- I voluntarily stopped driving, I went out step further and got rid of my car. Maybe it's cuz I worked in healthcare, maybe it's cuz I have common sense, or maybe it's cuz I'm not a selfish drunk, I realized I should probably stop driving.

      My Dad did the same thing. He said he had gotten too old to keep up with the new drivers and had no desire to be killed or cause anyone else their life. I respected his decision and admire him even today while missing him dearly!

      My nephew was killed in a car accident at the age of 28 DAYS. Yes, days. A kid headed to school one morning dropped an 8 track tape in his floorboard. He reached to get it and veered into my brothers car, head on. He wasnt drunk at all, he was just 18 yrs old.
      My brother and his wife were taking the baby for his first checkup. He never made it.
      Be careful out there. There's precious cargo out there.

    As a former EMT, I have seen people who are post seizure. They are called postictal. If she got up right after the accident, it proves that she did not have a seizure at all.

      To be honest my dad had this happen in his driveway and he ran into his house he couldn’t walk away he was taken away by ambulance later we found out he had a tumor on his brain. He never drove again. If she was having them she should’ve never drove

    My Aunt and Uncle were killed by a drunk driver, they were newlyweds and just in their mid-20’s. The guy got 1 year in prison. 1 year for 2 young lives. What’s worse, a few years later the judge was caught drunk driving. Absolutely despicable. I have no tolerance for people who drive drunk, especially in this day and age where Uber and Lyft are a click away.

I remember having to stay upstairs in my bedroom for hours while my mom and her other sister were downstairs crying. I could see people coming and going all day long from my bedroom window. I had no idea what was going on at the time.

      The judge did his job. It's a process that needs to be followed. By no means did he give her a slap on the wrist.

    There was a drunk driver when I was a little kid swerving on the street while me and my sister rode our bikes. I was 6 and my sister was 8 years old. I quickly jerked my bike out of the way of her swerving and fell off my bike while she hit my bike's tire and swerved at my sister and my sister drove into a park car with her bike to get out of the way and my sister's handle bar of her bike went right through her stomach. She was rushed to the hospital and we both survived the drunk driver. My mother said she fainted when she saw the hole in my sister's stomach at the hospital...She said you could see inside of her. I remember our dad was the only one home my mom was working and my sister said "go get dad" and I was hysterical and I remember him rushing out the door to my sister.

      Sadly, her going to prison doesn't affect only her. Imagine the pain her husband will go through too spending his last years alone in what should have been a happy retirement. I couldn't imagine what she is feeling knowing what she did. At almost 70 years old, living with that is punishment enough, IMO. Just because she isn't crying in court doesn't mean she isn't feeling emotion. People have different ways of handling things that are absolutely devastating. She could still be in shock and if she's medicated, that will also affect her mood and reactions. If that was on purpose as someone claimed, then that's a different story!

    I am NOT taking her side, but this blew my mind. I can't believe the judge allowed people to keep interrupting when the defense attorney was speaking. I've never seen that or saw it be allowed. It was very, very, very, unprofessional. They have every right to be angry and hurt and everything else they feel, but constantly interrupting the defense attorney is just crazy to me.

      He is simply doing his job. She is not guilty until proven guilty. That's the law in America. She does look highly medicated though. That's one of the first things they do to people in jail. Medicate everyone so they are controllable. If she had seizures her doctor had a duty to report that to the DMV. They would have taken her license away.
      Incredibly sad for all of the victims and their families. I never drank and hopefully never will. To much sadness comes from drinking. I've lived a life with many alcoholics. It's a destructive addiction that hurts all.😢🙏

But he was handicaped because he would not drive when he drink and drinked as soon as he got home from work. But that wasn't not problem for her. LOCK HER UP!!     I've never had a ticket. I've never driven drunk.
    I have been a Firefighter and first responder, and I absolutely believe everyone should have to ride rescue for 20 hours, before getting a license.
    And ANYONE convicted of DUI should have to have a breathalyzer in their car for 2 years ON EVERY COUNT.
    No matter what.

      My stepdad would get off work at 2-2:30 and stop by the bar and have a beer on his way home. He worked later hours too, but always stopped by the bar for a beer on his way home. I am not saying that it was okay, just saying people stop for a drink on their way home. I personally don't drink but every few years, and I sure don't drive after drinking.

    Why was she described as driving like "an old lady" & that people had to go around her? Because people who drive blind drunk do either of two things: speed & don't stay in their lane, OR, crawl long, often with one eye closed so they're not seeing double, hoping they're less conspicuous because they're NOT speeding.
    The sh*t that came out of that defence attorney's mouth was disgraceful, shame on him. I get that alcohol has the power to remove some people's morals, ethics & capacity for good decision making (it did that to me for 12 years), BUT, problem drinking/alcoholism is NEVER a justifiable excuse/reason/defence. I would also gamble that the alcohol precipitated the seizures, not the other way around. Not just bitchin' & judgin' cause that's what you do on YT - speaking from first-hand, familial & other experience.

    My sister began seizures after a car accident. She could not drive until she was seizure free for 1 year. My sister didn't drink or have to take medication but she still couldn't drive. How was this lady able to drive? This was something her doctor had to report to DMV!! I don't believe this was a seizure. She was very drunk!!! Period!🤬🤬

We pulled up to this party minutes after she hit the building. We were running late thank God but many we love were in that building. Zero excuse for her to have been driving. In my case 30 years ago after seizure free and on meds 5 yrs my license was returned. It would help the family to realize to concentrate on her BAC that night when driving. Some of their statements sound discriminatory and with a large potential jury pool taking some med it may taint future outcomes. I am sorry they lost their family they need to be strategic and the prosecutor is doing a disservice to allow them making inaccurate comments.

I drove that same gravel road she did and I’m not even convinced that this wasn’t intentional. It was not easy to get to that point and hit that building. Too much to explain but at the end of it all she should not have been being there wheel

    There are too many other options available nowadays, so there is no valid reason to get behind the wheel impaired.
    Can't say you can't afford an Uber/Lyft/etc, if you've spent all your money on alcohol and/or drugs.

      I worked with an epileptic- she seized all the time, but never accepted medical assistance. And we knew she lied to her neurologist. She collapsed in the office and turned away an ambulance - because any hospital report of a seizure would automatically suspend her driving privileges. We had no idea what to do, but felt complicit in keeping her secret. She finally wound up totaling her car in a single car accident. This forced the permanent suspension and surrender of her license.

    Heartbreaking for the family of the two children who were killed. The grandmother in the background - my heart breaks for her. The mother is in bad shape at the hospital too. There is no excuse for drinking and driving and NO excuse for driving if you have a medical condition AND TAKING MEDICATIONS! No excuse!

      Prison sentences should never be based on emotion. Anyone one of us can make a mistake and have an accident that kills someone, even a child. Life sentences should be saved for violent murderers, which she doesn't appear to be. Yes, she did something incredibly stupid, but I'm sure her intent was not to kill two children.

      I have NEVER in my life watched such a biased case and basically a conviction just in the arraignment. Those people should have never been allowed to speak until the trial was over. Her lawyer if he’s smart can say unfair trial & have it throwed out on this alone.

    Although I live elsewhere, I'm from Michigan and my friend's sister was one who was injured. The sadness of this case starts way before the incident. Chidester is a grown woman who knew better. She's a broken, unhappy mess of an alcoholic and (prescription or otherwise) drug abuser. She was already dead inside to have been living this kind of life and her discontent and chronic addictions led directly to this terrible day on which she ended or ruined so many lives. Heartbreaking.

    I didn’t know a person could get seizures just in their legs. And just because she only had one drink in the bar, doesn’t necessarily mean she only had one drink. She didn’t get a BAC of .026 with one drink.

      She’s being tried at her arraignment. Witnesses and others are clearly testifying without having been sworn in nor has her counsel been allowed to question anyone. This isn’t the way our Legal System is supposed to work for Everyone!

      To Make such a judgement on her looks is small minded and judge mental. Who are you to find guilt or innocence by someone’s age? Hopefully, no one will Judge you like this but remember, karma calls collects. Stress & Extreme Emotions can make anyone of us appear completely different. I know. I was told by dozens of people how I looked during my 19 year old son’s funeral. I looked old beyond my years and my skin was ashen and gray. That’s devastation.

    You can't compare having a heart attack and killing someone with having a KNOWN SEIZURE disorder AND choosing to drive drunk. Just because she's never been caught driving drunk, doesn't mean she's never done it. When I was young and stupid I drove drunk so many times and never got pulled over even once - in fact, I have never gotten a single ticket in MY almost 50 years of driving.

      @@scotsquine7870 As I said, I was "young AND STUPID". I'm 62 years old now and haven't driven drunk since I was 22 years old. Forty years ago there wasn't the same "awareness" about driving drunk as there is now. I was never so drunk that I didn't know what I was doing, and the roads I drove on were literally in the middle of nowhere. But I still consider myself extremely lucky for how stupid it was. I admitted it to make the point that just because SHE has never been pulled over, doesn't mean she hasn't driven drunk many times before. Judge me if you wish, but I'm NOT that same person anymore and haven't been for pretty much my entire adult life. How wonderful it must be to be you, who has never made bad decisions when you were young.
