Paddy Considine's directorial debut, Tyrannosaur, is an absolute triumph. Starring Olivia Colman, Eddie Marsan and Peter Mullan, its garnered rave reviews from everyone, and looks set to be the start of a wonderful directorial career. We've already had our man Paddy round for a webchat, but we love him (and Olivia) so much, when there was a chance to speak to him on camera, we couldn't say no. So to learn more about the film, Paddy and Olivia, click play below. Ah, go on. www.empireonline.com/interview...

Olivia Coleman so deserved the BAFTA for this film! One of the best film performances I've seen. How was she not even nominated?!

Her performance in that film is up there with anything Meryl Streep has ever done. A phenomenal directorial debut from Paddy Considine. Absolutely broke me to pieces when I first watched it.

Olivia Coleman made this movie, Peter Mullan did a great job portraying the antihero but one of Olivia’s last scenes where Peter walks into his own house to confront her absolutely made me weep, such a great actress

I really loved this movie, i think it was the first time a movie has ever entered my top ten instantly. I have only been so emotionally effected by one movie more, which would be Lars Von Trier's dancer in the dark. This movie was awesome. I have already watched it twice in 2 days.

Dancer in the Dark seems more overtly manipulative than this, the character machinations in Tyrannosaur feel so raw and elemental but in DitD I can feel Triers twisting the knife and making you feel every ounce of pain possible. Tyrannosaur isn’t afraid to show the value and warmth of human connection without shrouding how bleak life can be, but not in a contrived way

That dog was horribly treated, it was doomed. He was putting it out of its misery and at the same time getting revenge on his scumbag neighbour. It is very bittersweet though don't get me wrong.

Agreed. He's basically two people. Him sober, and him when he's drunk. The dog killing does make it difficult to feel anything other than hate and anger towards him though. That feeling lasted throughout the entire film for me.

There is a common implied value in films that dogs have more value than women. I.e. you can kill a woman but not a dog. This film kicks that idea's ribs in.

Yeah, its an odd story that makes you think. I think its a brilliant film. I still dont known how to feel about Joseph as a character in the film. After killing the dogs it made it difficult for me to feel anything other than hate and anger towards him. When i watched it I basically hated him nearly as much as i hated the wife beater bloke and the pit bull owner. It just seemed odd to me that Hannah said she felt safe when she was with Joseph. How? The guy was an angry, unstable, horrible, alcy bastard. Funny friend to pick for someone in her position.
