I'm new to Snowrunner and this type of game, and I can't put my finger on why I like it! I shouldn't, there is a lot of doing nothing but there is something relaxing about it. Was getting really frustrated with the first map but knew there was a way to learn the game and your video really helped me get a start. Thank you.
I'm done with the first map, and I've moved on to Smithville Dam. After exploring the area, I'm getting ready to start doing the jobs. First, I bought two more of the International Scout II trucks. I left them stock, except I put the full roof rack on them. It has the repair kit and a lot of fuel, so I drove them to where I wish there was a gas station. Trailer store on the other side of the dam, the logging camp, things like that. I left them there. I can refuel and repair my rigs as I'm going through the jobs without going all the way back to the shop. I'll recover them when they're all used up or when I'm done and ready to move on to the next map.
This video helps me to give the game a second chance, it was so frustrating the first time I play not because of the pace and the slow ungraded vehicles but the fact that I wasted hours trying to do quests only to realized that I need better vehicles and part and no fund to do so.
I bought this game when it came out. Threw the remote down in frustration a few times and didnt touch the game for months. Everytime i went to Alaska i seemed stuck and couldn't get back to michigan with my truck. Finally asked for help on reddit and didn't understand the whole "retain" truck thing. Now ....still on michigan but having a blast!! Scouting,doing time challenges,completing tasks. And ive only completed like 8% of michigan🤣🤣🤣. But FINALLY understanding the game better. This video would have been a life saver a couple years ago!! Still on the dence about mods(not even sure if u can get a mod on ps4)

I thought it was too long for the value it provided to viewers and wanted to make denser content. It just shows how much crucial knowledge is still not out there despite the game being out for years. Maybe I should get back to making more Snowrunner content lol.

Stock GMC has higher lift kit than fleetstar which is handy for the large 8 slot trailer since the trailer has legs that quite often hit the road causing loss of momentum.
Neither GMC nor Fleetstar is a remotely good idea for the 8-slot trailer. I guess since there's no "Game Over!" in Snowrunner, you can make anything work - But almost any other truck would be better if the job is a high-saddle trailer. "You can make anything work" also applies to using the stock GMC in general - Yes, you can make it work, but unless you want to challenge yourself specifically in that way for some reason, there isn't much point in doing so.
Love the video , followed it all the way through and I feel comfortable with the game now and feel ready to hit the road , I love what you did with the upgrades bc I would have been much more likely to give up from boredom if forced to use those poop trucks for that long
Thank you for the heads up about the spoilers but the way I see it is the game has been out for a couple years already so anything I saw that got me into the game has already showed me spoilers and just more excited to get into the game
Great vid and thank you for posting. Day one player here and was struggling a bit to get started so this was REALLY helpful. I got most of the stuff you showed expect for the upgrade at the Dam area which was very helpful. I also have all the DLC and JUST realized I could use the trucks right of the bat. I figured I had to unlock them haha! So now I will try them out. I also like the Scout 800 and the GMC MH9500 but will look to sell after I try the others ;)
Just a friendly reminder that you can get your trailer with wood for the bridge repair at the lumber yard. Just winch to truck and hook, allows you to bring both medal and lumber at the same time

finally a video talking about what i was mastering for past 2 months so lets talk a little > first watchtower is totally optional for completing tutorial(because first truck contract is activated from the start, you can get a detour earlier and go for truck first) >tutorial in theory is already completed after going to alaska from smithvile dam garage(any% speedrun for now is that route and its 2-3 minutes faster than doing normal tutorial route), but it blocks most contracts outside logs to complete(its only because the "go to garage" requierment is on most contracts and few tasks in black river, maprunner states wnich one of them are) >5:50 No first contract isnt making bridge, from game standpoint "find watchotower is a contraact you have to complete, same with first truck etc, in theory you can do logs on drummond island as first contract >14:30 in the city where the metal is on black river map there are little walls on roads to prevent players from going wrong way, but you can skip them between buildings if you really want >16:10, i think you can upload it as any% tutorial and it would be fine, but its not even close to my times, just put the time as the moment you went to alaska, first frame of loading screen >17:50 from stock cars the scout 800 is way better than chevy, due to having diff lock it can allow you to reach some mods easier if you dont plan to go garageless run and get diff lock on chevy >19:00 game doesnt allow you to switch maps for example you cannot acces black river map when you are in smithville dam (before going to alaska), i reported this as a bug already but not sure snowrunner email people noted it, they just tried to help me fix it >23:10 >:c scout better >most tasks are unlocked after alaska and you can maybe sell the scout and chevy for a truck, and already maybe fix a rocks between tunel and city in black river to make getting back to tutorial route easier, also anniversary dlc is still free on steam and epic, not sure consoles etc, so from selling those two you get 200k for start >i haave somewhere on my channel speedruns of first going to smithville and then back to normal tutorial and its around 15 minutes long, that 1:20 hour vid seems a little overextending XD > you could take a trailer that is next to lumber place with planks and go with that to get metal and complete bridge in one tour, commonly used in 100% tutorial speedruns >52:30, if you really have to cross it for some reason you can go around on left, theres enough space but hitbox is wreid so you have to do it slowly >55:30 why not get the higher suspenion for gmc mod, its almost on a way to garage and its extra 100 xp for start and maybe to sell it for some extra 1k or so >56:00 you can go close to garage and not enter it and it allows you to use it by recover button without completing go to garage contract fun video but it could be optimised way more, i can try if youw ant speedrun of just doing what you did but faster
The GMC is actually really good once you get a few upgrades on it. The problem is that the upgrades you need aren't available until more difficult maps. But overall, it is one of the fastest trucks in the game, it can equip larger tires without a lift, it has great ground clearance, and once you get the AWD upgrade, it is extremely capable for the low price point. Also, just because a truck doesn't have an available diff lock doesn't mean it can't perform well offroad. Some trucks, such as the Royal BM17, have limited slip differentials (or at least act like they do) which help a lot with traction.

I hope you appreciate some constructive criticism: Just for the upcoming vids, perhaps give an outline what to expect and even jumpmarks to relevant progress or sth. Or for the impatient audience, fast forward the driving sequences a bit and make your talking points at the intermediate goals. I know it takes a lot of time to record and you want to show it, but you know how the economy of attention is these days ^^.

I've considered time-lapsing some of the driving too, instead of trying to fill the blanks with random words - which is your other criticism, seems like a timelapse would kill two birds with one stone. I think TruscoreGaming does a much better job in that regard. I already have the footage for episode 2 recorded but haven't had the time to edit it yet - I will certainly do so with your feedback in mind. As with talking points and timestamps- the difficulty is in actually remembering the talking points (and timestamps would ofc make no sense if I don't lol - which was kind of the case with this video...) This bit is much harder done than said, I need a better way to plan & record that requires less memory capacity for me to remember to same information. I'll get there tho, stay tuned :)

I'm sure a lot of other people felt the same way and that this video helped them. When the end of the video was coming around, I was getting excited about a part 2 and I just couldn't find it.

This is great early game knowledge, but I don't really see any benefit to doing all this before finishing the tutorial versus just finishing the tutorial then doing this.
