Great to see you again! I’m with you in that I often have my head in the clouds about the world’s divisiveness, but that’s partly by choice. When things got pretty political and polarizing on Flosstube back in 2020, I unfollowed those folks who were strong voices with that stuff. For me, Flosstube is a space to enjoy this hobby. I don’t need politics to enter that space. The people I choose to follow are generally kind, inclusive and stick to mainly stitching. That way I can just have a happy place to go to enjoy this hobby with those who are like-minded. 🥰

I LOVE your castle conversion in Cinderella, I would stitch it by itself. By tracking my stitching I've found that i don't stitch very much in March and April so I decided to go to a spring retreat this year to encourage me to keep stutching and I think it worked! I know its hard to out yourself out there in videos so thank you for coming back. Happy stitching 💜

Hi Kathryn! I'm loving your Cinderella conversion. Glad to see you stitching a stocking for yourself! Aida is the best for stockings because it will hang better and hold its shape better than linen, which just collapses on itself unless you use interfacing to give it some stability. Don't let the trolls win. They must have pretty miserable lives to want to tear others down to feel better about themselves. --Deb
Hi Deb, thanks for the stocking tips - I’ll continue with aida for sure! Just wish I’d chosen Zweigart aida instead of Loops & Threads aida… I think it must be woven with glue! Zweigart is so much nicer. I might restart on Zweigart Aida. ☺️☀️
Your Cinderella piece is gorgeous! I would love to see all of your Dimensions kits if you end up making that video! I’m not as far as you on Strawberry Fields, but I love working on it when I pull it out. Saturdays in the summer are tough for making a midday Zoom. Maybe those of us who haven’t finished by fall/winter can pick up on the Zooms again then. Happy stitching!

Your white/light colored stitches look really neat. I struggle with making light colored stitches look neat. For grabbing your needles, check an office supply. I used to use little rubber fingertips that were handy for flipping thru papers. They gripped really well. Hopefully they still make them. Thank you for making videos. I appreciate you. I would love to see a WIP parade.

I saw one YTer wearing a wonderful shirt a while back that said something like, "I don't care that you're offended." It was so perfect for today's environment. 😀 People are people, and the human condition has been the same since creation, which means it's part of every community including flosstube. Don't feed the trolls has been good advice since the internet. With that said, a kit and/or wip parade would be wonderful ❤
Loved your video...1st time viewer! I too had started something on Aida with DMC and it was so stiff but I wanted to continue working on it. Since DMC is colorfast, I gambled and rinsed the piece in cold water till it softened up. I then played it between two fluffy bath towels to absorb the water. Then let it air dry. And sure enough, the Aida softened up and it is now an enjoyable stitch.

Thank you!! I used to track stitch counts but it starts to eat into my stitching time 😂. The only metric I capture lately is percent complete on my full coverage pieces where I use pattern keeper. Otherwise I just stitch. ☺️
Firstly, Cinderella is stunning! Secondly, don’t let them win. You even saying that people should be kind won’t help. People will just be who they are. You can’t change them, you can only change how you respond to them. For all your subscribers it is a loss if you give in. Our country is so divided that it was just a matter of time that it would hit flosstube. These people are hurting. It’s why they do it. Hurting people hurt. Try to remember that. I remember years ago I taught a class and someone came up to me and said that one thing you said was amazing and profound. Right after another woman came up and criticized me for the same exact thing. In a bad way. I learned a lot from that. I love your flosstube. Stand strong.

So great to see your video pop up in my feed! I agree with @StitchinMommy's comment 2020 got pretty nasty there for a while, but there are always going to be those channels that are very polarizing. I know there are a few I just recently unsubscribed from that were just not the vibe I was wanting to have in my watchlist. I know that there is stuff going on in the world, I just don't need it 24/7. I use this hobby & my Flosstubes to escape the world. Loved seeing your progress & Cinderella is just amazing! Your Cinderella castle is gorgeous! And I appreciate the contrast gray of the stairs. They are an element of the story, not just an architectural detail, and you have given them their own moment. For the stiffness of the stocking fabric, I think, even though you have started, you can soak it in warm/hot water to remove the sizing. Then apply spray starch on the back when you are done to restiffen it. Just my thought of how I might handle it, because I personally can't stand fighting fabric that is hard. The shell fabric would be scary good for Boomerang Stitches I'm Dreaming of a Great White Christmas.
I'm here for any videos featuring the word "parade" in them! I'd love to see all the WIPs, I'd love to see all the kits lol. Social Media is always, always a hostile and toxic environment to try and exist in. No matter how docile the topic, like cross stitch for example, there will always be individuals out there ready to crush someone else. Just remember that in this community, the good outweighs the bad tenfold.

Love a good kit parade…and a wip parade but do whatever works. I guess I’m in the dark about the unfavorable nonsense but am in my 8th year of making videos and have seen it before. Mean girls are part of everything! When this kind of stuff happens we break apart into new groups…unfollow people and align with makers that speak to us. Things will settle down. Just ignore what doesn’t feel right and hang with the folks you enjoy interacting with. Pam
I love your castle in Cinderella. I can't wait to see more of her! I've amassed a collection of things related to stitching and stitching supplies, too. I'm trying to minimize my collecting this year and I'm thoroughly enjoying stitching from my collection. I used to say that I was collecting for retirement; even though I'm not at a point where I can retire quite yet, I think it's an ok time to use it (smile). I love Amy's fabrics. I've been getting 32 count linen and 20 count aida and it's been interesting to see how the fabrics take the dye differently. I'm thinking I'm going to do Andromeda on that first fabric. I'm not sure exactly when it happened, but it seems that people just can't scroll past something they don't agree with without leaving a negative and even nasty comment. I hate that. For me, what I love about FlossTube is that I get to see pieces that I wouldn't know about otherwise. And while I have my own reasons for saying that you won't find me stitching a HAED, I certainly appreciate the work that goes into them and enjoy seeing people working on them and applaud progress and finishes. Have fun at Stitch North - it sounds like it will be great fun! Thanks for keeping me company while I slog through some tedious work on a Friday afternoon.. have a good weekend! 🪡👠

The material that you looking for grabbing your needle is called Needle Grabbers and as I know is made by two companies. In the package is two small round silicon? disks and it’s great. I’ve ordered couple of them because II’m always loosing my things and Ioved them. You have to try them. Be positive and happy. ❤

I'm so sorry to hear about the insensitive comments. The rest of us look forward to seeing what you do and hearing what you have to say. I think it is so brave and selfless to take the time to make these videos instead of stitching. A couple of other floss tube creators are saying the same thing about the hurtful comments. Those types who do that have to live with themselves - that's punishment enough.... . You are terrific Kathryn! ♥ Just to add, the online knitting community became very divisive around 2016. Some of my favorite knitting podcasters had to leave because of the terrible comments they were getting. Some of the pattern creators were also getting harassed. I left that community and found the cross stitch community far more pleasant and gentle spirited. I pray it doesn't go the way the knitting community went.

@@NeedleberryStitcher I do hope you are able to find the needle pullers at Michaels… that was the first time I had seen them and it was not at my local Michaels. Thank god for Amazon, right? What don’t they carry… I also needlepoint where at times it is hard to pull your needle through, and in those cases I use a 2 inch piece of wide rubber band to pull my needle (a tip given by a needlepoint guild member years ago). .. works every time!

Yay!!!! Another video!! I was soooo happy to see it pop up this morning! I wouldn't worry about the fabric you stitch your stocking on. I use interfacing and it keeps the stocking's shape. If you really hate the fabric, i would restart it on a zweigart aida. It's much softer and nicer to work on. You can get rubber thimbles. I've seen bank tellers use them when they are counting money. That's the one thing i hate about the newer dimensions kits ..5 strands!! I agree that the flosstube community has become a bit toxic and because of it, we've lost some flosstubers. I'm soooooo excited to hang out with you at stitch north. Im ready to do some all nighters.😂
I might restart the stocking on Zweigart fabric, although I’m sad to lose the progress and start over. But I also dread continuing on fabric so hard to work with! I use medical band on my fingers when stitching gets intense. The name brand is Coban, but there are tons of generics that do the same thing on the cheap. You can even get it as vet wrap, which is even cheaper. You can adjust the thickness, length and width with scissors and it stays put really well. Definitely recommend it!

I have several things to say lol. First I love your idea of finding patterns from kits without the materials! Second, I have the flight of freedom kit that I found on Mercari last year for a good price…we should sal it at some point!! Third, I have some of those rubber thimble thingys that I think are made for office workers when they have a lot of paper stuff to handle. I can feel what I am doing through it and it is as comfortable as it could be I guess…bc bare fingers would be ideal but sometimes that it’s t possible ❤ I know I have more to say but that’s all I can remember 😂 Lovely to see you again Kathryn! I’m new to your channel. To address your question, “has it always been Like this?” Flosstube has exploded across social media, so it has attracted “trolls” the community itself is great! But you will always risk someone being unkind when you put yourself out there, because of the mean kids hiding behind their keyboards. Flosstube has expanded and is reaching so many new people, which is great, except for the ones that want to ruin your day. They aren’t part of the community I am here for. Just my thoughts.
I agree completely. Hard to ignore the negativity sometimes but I’m starting to find ways to filter it out. Unsub, unfollow, block, etc. FlossTube is my happy place! ☀️☺️

My husband calls me Poppy because I am always so happy and refuse to see the bad and evil. I agree with you on your rant. I have not witnessed the comments you were talking about but that is likely as my brain filters it out. I love your Cinderella conversion, it looks amazing. I love cross stitch, especially when I pick my own colors.
I know this sounds crazy, but using a bigger needle, actually seems to make it easier/less painful to pull through. I learned that lesson with stamped kits. It's counter intuitive, but worked for me. It doesn't fix it completely, but makes it less uncomfortable (to be clear). I'm socially awkward too. I'm always worried I'm going to get attacked for offending someone. Being in the clouds is such a pleasant place to be. I'm up there with you.

@@NeedleberryStitcher Spoiler alert: I had a massive finish. No rush to watch, though. I'm super behind as well and I'm about to be even further behind since I'm going to be watching a trial for a couple of months (assuming it's as interesting as it sounds). Good question about the chalkboard. I didn't think about that, but I'll bet they don't have those at all anymore. I have not had that issue with the sound. I use a size 24 needle on the tough aida ones. I imagine if you went much bigger, you might hear it. I use a 26 or a 28 on pretty much everything else. 28 is amazing for beading. I struggled to thread beading needles until I learned the 28 works on beads.

Unfortunately Flosstube has always been like that (on both sides) but it's only becoming more obvious in the last few months as we're reaching a few tipping points; some of which unfortunately is coming to the surface because (in my opinion, and I could be completely wrong) what's going on politically and judicially in the USA, and the two main wars in progress right now. I think I've only ever left one comment about a Flosstuber, without naming them, on someone's rant about that Flosstuber promoting copyright/pirated kits without being aware of what they were doing. In my mind, there are things we should all agree on when it comes to stitching, and that's protecting the hobby and ensuring we don't support products and groups that damage the hobby. BUT, that's my personal opinion, and I know I didn't make that comment in a mean way. But for those that do, it's easy to be negative on the internet unfortunately. ON A MORE POSITIVE NOTE.... YES PLEASE to another Dimensions kit parade :D I'd love to see an updated version of it! Hope your stitchy bug comes back

This is my happy place, and I often have my head in the clouds and not aware of what is going on and that is perfectly fine for me. I LOVE your castle conversion in Cinderella, I would stitch it by itself. By tracking my stitching I've found that i don't stitch very much in March and April so I decided to go to a spring retreat this year to encourage me to keep stutching and I think it worked! I know its hard to out yourself out there in videos so thank you for coming back. Happy stitching 💜

Hi Kathryn! I'm loving your Cinderella conversion. Glad to see you stitching a stocking for yourself! Aida is the best for stockings because it will hang better and hold its shape better than linen, which just collapses on itself unless you use interfacing to give it some stability. I’m not as far as you on Strawberry Fields, but I love working on it when I pull it out. Saturdays in the summer are tough for making a midday Zoom. Your white/light colored stitches look really neat. I struggle with making light colored stitches look neat. For grabbing your needles, check an office supply. I used to use little rubber fingertips that were handy for flipping thru papers. They gripped really well. Hopefully they still make them. Thank you for making videos. I appreciate you. I would love to see a WIP parade.

I kind of know how you feel about the struggle to make videos sometimes. It can be scary putting yourself out there. You just want to show your love of the hobby and what you have been stitching on, and sometimes underhanded comments are made in return.😔

I saw one YTer wearing a wonderful shirt a while back that said something like, "I don't care that you're offended." It was so perfect for today's environment. 😀 People are people, and the human condition has been the same since creation, which means it's part of every community including flosstube. Don't feed the trolls has been good advice since the internet. With that said, a kit and/or wip parade would be wonderful ❤
Loved your video...1st time viewer! I too had started something on Aida with DMC and it was so stiff but I wanted to continue working on it. Since DMC is colorfast, I gambled and rinsed the piece in cold water till it softened up. I then played it between two fluffy bath towels to absorb the water. Then let it air dry. And sure enough, the Aida softened up and it is now an enjoyable stitch.

Thank you!! I used to track stitch counts but it starts to eat into my stitching time 😂. The only metric I capture lately is percent complete on my full coverage pieces where I use pattern keeper. Otherwise I just stitch. ☺️
Firstly, Cinderella is stunning! Secondly, don’t let them win. You even saying that people should be kind won’t help. People will just be who they are. You can’t change them, you can only change how you respond to them. For all your subscribers it is a loss if you give in. Our country is so divided that it was just a matter of time that it would hit flosstube. These people are hurting. It’s why they do it. Hurting people hurt. Try to remember that. I remember years ago I taught a class and someone came up to me and said that one thing you said was amazing and profound. Right after another woman came up and criticized me for the same exact thing. In a bad way. I learned a lot from that. I love your flosstube. Stand strong.

Your Cinderella castle is gorgeous! And I appreciate the contrast gray of the stairs. They are an element of the story, not just an architectural detail, and you have given them their own moment.
For the stiffness of the stocking fabric, I think, even though you have started, you can soak it in warm/hot water to remove the sizing. Then apply spray starch on the back when you are done to restiffen it. Just my thought of how I might handle it, because I personally can't stand fighting fabric that is hard.
The shell fabric would be scary good for Boomerang Stitches I'm Dreaming of a Great White Christmas.
I'm here for any videos featuring the word "parade" in them! I'd love to see all the WIPs, I'd love to see all the kits lol. Social Media is always, always a hostile and toxic environment to try and exist in. No matter how docile the topic, like cross stitch for example, there will always be individuals out there ready to crush someone else. Just remember that in this community, the good outweighs the bad tenfold.

Love a good kit parade…and a wip parade but do whatever works. I guess I’m in the dark about the unfavorable nonsense but am in my 8th year of making videos and have seen it before. Mean girls are part of everything! When this kind of stuff happens we break apart into new groups…unfollow people and align with makers that speak to us. Things will settle down. Just ignore what doesn’t feel right and hang with the folks you enjoy interacting with. Pam

I love your castle in Cinderella. I can't wait to see more of her! I've amassed a collection of things related to stitching and stitching supplies, too. I'm trying to minimize my collecting this year and I'm thoroughly enjoying stitching from my collection. I used to say that I was collecting for retirement; even though I'm not at a point where I can retire quite yet, I think it's an ok time to use it (smile). I love Amy's fabrics. I've been getting 32 count linen and 20 count aida and it's been interesting to see how the fabrics take the dye differently. I'm thinking I'm going to do Andromeda on that first fabric.
I'm not sure exactly when it happened, but it seems that people just can't scroll past something they don't agree with without leaving a negative and even nasty comment. I hate that. For me, what I love about FlossTube is that I get to see pieces that I wouldn't know about otherwise. And while I have my own reasons for saying that you won't find me stitching a HAED, I certainly appreciate the work that goes into them and enjoy seeing people working on them and applaud progress and finishes.

The material that you looking for grabbing your needle is called Needle Grabbers and as I know is made by two companies. In the package is two small round silicon? disks and it’s great. I’ve ordered couple of them because II’m always loosing my things and Ioved them. You have to try them.

I'm so sorry to hear about the insensitive comments. The rest of us look forward to seeing what you do and hearing what you have to say. I think it is so brave and selfless to take the time to make these videos instead of stitching. A couple of other floss tube creators are saying the same thing about the hurtful comments. Those types who do that have to live with themselves - that's punishment enough.... . You are terrific Kathryn! ♥ Just to add, the online knitting community became very divisive around 2016. Some of my favorite knitting podcasters had to leave because of the terrible comments they were getting. Some of the pattern creators were also getting harassed. I left that community and found the cross stitch community far more pleasant and gentle spirited. I pray it doesn't go the way the knitting community went.

I also needlepoint where at times it is hard to pull your needle through, and in those cases I use a 2 inch piece of wide rubber band to pull my needle (a tip given by a needlepoint guild member years ago). .. works every time!

Yay!!!! Another video!! I was soooo happy to see it pop up this morning! I wouldn't worry about the fabric you stitch your stocking on. I use interfacing and it keeps the stocking's shape. If you really hate the fabric, i would restart it on a zweigart aida. It's much softer and nicer to work on. You can get rubber thimbles. I've seen bank tellers use them when they are counting money. That's the one thing i hate about the newer dimensions kits ..5 strands!! I agree that the flosstube community has become a bit toxic and because of it, we've lost some flosstubers. I'm soooooo excited to hang out with you at stitch north. Im ready to do some all nighters.😂
I might restart the stocking on Zweigart fabric, although I’m sad to lose the progress and start over. But I also dread continuing on fabric so hard to work with! All-nighters at Stitch North - yes please!! 👍😂. I use medical band on my fingers when stitching gets intense. The name brand is Coban, but there are tons of generics that do the same thing on the cheap. You can even get it as vet wrap, which is even cheaper. You can adjust the thickness, length and width with scissors and it stays put really well. Definitely recommend it!

I have several things to say lol. First I love your idea of finding patterns from kits without the materials! Second, I have the flight of freedom kit that I found on Mercari last year for a good price…we should sal it at some point!! Third, I have some of those rubber thimble thingys that I think are made for office workers when they have a lot of paper stuff to handle. I can feel what I am doing through it and it is as comfortable as it could be I guess…bc bare fingers would be ideal but sometimes that it’s t possible ❤ I know I have more to say but that’s all I can remember 😂 Lovely to see you again Kathryn! I’m new to your channel. To address your question, “has it always been Like this?” Flosstube has exploded across social media, so it has attracted “trolls” the community itself is great! But you will always risk someone being unkind when you put yourself out there, because of the mean kids hiding behind their keyboards. Flosstube has expanded and is reaching so many new people, which is great, except for the ones that want to ruin your day. They aren’t part of the community I am here for. Just my thoughts.
I agree completely. Hard to ignore the negativity sometimes but I’m starting to find ways to filter it out. Unsub, unfollow, block, etc. FlossTube is my happy place! ☀️☺️

I have not witnessed the comments you were talking about but that is likely as my brain filters it out. I love your Cinderella conversion, it looks amazing. I know this sounds crazy, but using a bigger needle, actually seems to make it easier/less painful to pull through. I learned that lesson with stamped kits. It's counter intuitive, but worked for me. It doesn't fix it completely, but makes it less uncomfortable (to be clear). I'm socially awkward too. I'm always worried I'm going to get attacked for offending someone. Being in the clouds is such a pleasant place to be. I'm up there with you.

@@NeedleberryStitcher Spoiler alert: I had a massive finish. No rush to watch, though. I'm super behind as well and I'm about to be even further behind since I'm going to be watching a trial for a couple of months (assuming it's as interesting as it sounds). Good question about the chalkboard. I didn't think about that, but I'll bet they don't have those at all anymore. I have not had that issue with the sound. I use a size 24 needle on the tough aida ones. I imagine if you went much bigger, you might hear it. I use a 26 or a 28 on pretty much everything else. 28 is amazing for beading. I struggled to thread beading needles until I learned the 28 works on beads.

Unfortunately Flosstube has always been like that (on both sides) but it's only becoming more obvious in the last few months as we're reaching a few tipping points; some of which unfortunately is coming to the surface because (in my opinion, and I could be completely wrong) what's going on politically and judicially in the USA, and the two main wars in progress right now. I think I've only ever left one comment about a Flosstuber, without naming them, on someone's rant about that Flosstuber promoting copyright/pirated kits without being aware of what they were doing. In my mind, there are things we should all agree on when it comes to stitching, and that's protecting the hobby and ensuring we don't support products and groups that damage the hobby. BUT, that's my personal opinion, and I know I didn't make that comment in a mean way. But for those that do, it's easy to be negative on the internet unfortunately. ON A MORE POSITIVE NOTE.... YES PLEASE to another Dimensions kit parade :D I'd love to see an updated version of it! Hope your stitchy bug comes back

No plans to go to stitch con, at least not this year. I might consider next year - let’s stay connected on which retreats we’re attending so we can eventually go to the same one again! ☺️💕
Sounds like a plan. When stitch not the moves the dates that took me out but I am planning to change almond so that might be a good thing…..
