How can there be 9 people that dislike this wonderful model railway? I am left speechless by the quality of the modelling of the locomotives, rolling stock and the buildings, including the Viaduct. I have never seen a wooden one. I bet I could walk around there all day and yet still miss some of the details in the splendid sciency. Martin. (Thailand) I have just seen the thumbnails for a revisit made in 2018.

I must confess that when visiting various MR exhibitions, that mentally I use Pendon as a bench mark, when viewing the exhibits, a few come up to speck, sadly many more do not, and i don't expect this, for were it so, then attending fairs would become tedious. Of course, these are mental notes, and i don't offer my opinion, to the exhibitors, they need encouragement, not criticism, however well-intended. i admire all the work that has gone in to the creation of the museum, and thank you immensely for all that you have done, now and in the future, for it will never be finished.

One of the best British Railway Modelling videos so far. And the commentator is so charming. I nearly cheered when he said "inveigled" -- I'm so tired of people who dumb things down. And thank you, BRM, for showing this site. I've seen so many photographs of this layout in books but never seen it in motion.

This is so understated as to be utterly magnificent. A wonderful achievement.

I visited this railroad during a business type to England; actually my friends took me there on my birthday. Fascinating place.

Besides this being a fantastic video for any would be railway modeller, I specifically wanted to comment on the laying of the track and track bed. As any one who has spent hours working out and getting the track down to a good running state will notice how smooth the trains run on this handmade layout. What a credit to the builder.

PENDONS TRACK: This is all handmade using real wooden sleepers, whitemetal rail chairs and Nickel Silver Bullhead rail to the exact dimensions of real track. So the gauge used by Pendon is 18.83mm, (often referred too as "P4" track). Commercial model train manufacturers are obliged to use a single common gauge in this scale ("OO/HO"), set pre-WW2 of 16.5mm between the rails. If commercial manufacturers made the track as fine as Pendon's, the average user would damage the product before getting it laid on their home layout. Pendon have specialist tools to cope with such refined and precise handbuilt trackwork.
Just one reason why many good modellers regard Pendon as the most refined and finest public exhibition model railway in the World !
The video it should be noted only shows a small part of the various layouts, which are spread over two floors.

An absolute work of art...long may it continue. Will there be a similar need to re-create the late 20th Century which is nostalgia for many folk nowadays?
