    I have a TCU with ECU ID 31020-JK64C.

    So my question is this, I have a 2012 Maxima with UpRev flash. I purchased a newish CVT I need to have the TCM reflashed with oem program, because my mech purchased a blank and went in messing with shift points, and has the car driving crazy shifting oddly and not meeting it's true power because of that. I wanted to get rid of that problem by reflashing with OEM settings; will that work and will my UpRev be ok with this action or does it need to be reflashed as well?

    • @vincejestersmith
      @vincejestersmith Před 4 lety +1

      I think the compatible range for you is 2005-2012 for the Re5r05a (Pathfinder and Xterra -- the trans is used before and beyond this in other applications). I'd try to find a used one in that range and consider a new valve body and TCM from Sonnax pre-flashed to VIN (if you don't get a compatible one with the used trans or can't use the old one due to contamination; I disasembled my VB, cleaned it, and reinstalled to discover TCM may have shorted). I am going through same process now and rebuilt one to swap with a coolant damaged one. When done I had communication trouble between ECU and TCM (U1000 and U1001). So, I think the coolant must have shorted the TCM. I am about to test pins from ECU and if good drop a spare TCM (that I know nothing about) from the spare trans I rebuilt. If all fails -- Sonnax. Some do take a much cheaper Re5r05a from a G35 and change out the rear housing / trans case adapter and swap the linkage over to the other side. I think you might also need to change the output shaft as there are different sizes -- but otherwise exactly same transmission. Wreckers jack the price up on the Pathfinder and Xterra Re5r05as compared to G35.
      If coolant damage, be sure to flush all lines with trans line flush before connecting the replacement trans.

    Is it possible to program an automatic transmission to not try to shift to the highest gear when in low or mid throttle? Unless manually shifting it, the vehicle's torque feels more responsive when the lowest gear used keeps the engine from dropping any lower than 2000 rpm in low throttle driving. But hey often go to the longest gear causing the transmission to takes too long to downshift.

      No, this will only work if the 2 TCMs are the same exact part number and software level. And only for some models as VIN data is stored in some newer TCMs, and CVTs do not work like this at all because of learned shift values.

    Keith thanks for the info. There's not much out there to confirm what I need to do...May I ask your advice, please? I have a 05 Frontier Nismo. Had problems with the transmission recent throwing codes like P1764 Direct Clutch Solenoid Function and 1769 High And Low/Reverse Clutch Solenoid Circuit. So my son and I took the valve body out brought a refurbished set of solenoids fitted them. It was OK for a day or so but now it's acting the same way. Anyway after research I have come to the conclusion that before I owned the truck it may have had coolant contamination due to rust on the TCM metal surround and on the old solenoids. So I've been trying to figure out if I buy a reman/refurb valve body with the TCM and solenoids on it, can I install that, then take it to be programmed, or do I have to somehow download the TCM data from the existing, one remove the existing one, then install the refurb one and upload the data to it
    Thanks a bunch

    • @L1Training
      @L1Training  Před 6 lety

      Both ways can be completed. It is easier for me to just use the parts.nissanusa.com to pull the file name for the blank unit, but if a shop is doing the replacement of the VB, then they may only be familiar with the method of downloading the old calibration information first. You will want to call the shops around you to find out their preferred method.

I manually transfered all files to Application Data but not the other location-i never knew about--i used to flash ECMs with no problem with first location dropping files. You need a scan tool that will do the relearn functions, (Snap-on verus, Autel Maxisys, or Launch x431), you will need access to service information for procedures and specs on each of the steps. (alldat, identifix, mitchell) you will need a programming specific power supply (NOT A BATTERY CHARGER) (Powermax, Iota, Schumacher, Snap-on) you will need a J2534 device (Drewtech, Bosch, Snapon, Launch) you will need a Windows 7 Laptop, you will need a subscription to nissan NERS ($270 a year), you will need the flash file for the specific control you are programming ($20). Then follow step by step with the video.

      This is a loaded question......... you can modify the CSV file to make NERS program any calibration file into any module, or at least attempt to do so. But if the hardware is not compatible with the calibration file, the programming event may fail, or the module may be damaged after the flash completes.

    L1 Automotive Diagnostics and Programming LLC Wassup bro. I have a 2005 Nissan Altima. I replaced the engine and transmission. But for some odd reason it will not switch gears. I can plug the battery in start it up and drive normal. But soon as I let off the gas the car completely stops switching gears. Then I have to get out disconnect the battery And then it’ll drive normal again. I’m getting extremely fed up. I replaced the motor mounts , axles , engine , and transmission. But I can not figure out what the issue is! Nissan can’t even tell me what’s wrong. Can you tell me what’s wrong? I’d really appreciate it.

      A lot more information would be needed, start by looking at scan data, see what looks out of place, it is very difficult to diagnose a problem when we really dont know what the problem is yet, only the symptom.

    Hi Keith, do you know how can I connect Nissan Consult III Plus with my Snap-On Pass thru Pro II?

    • @L1Training
      @L1Training  Před 6 lety

      A standard consult 3+ CF19 toughbook will not connect with anything but the OE passthru. Consult 3+ R2R edition (Right to Repair) will connect to the pass thru pro for diagnostics on 2018 and UP, currently Nissan has complied with the minimum requirements of the Right to Repair Act by doing this. There was a press release some time ago stating that in the 4th quarter of this year, we will receive a 1990-Present Consult 3+ version that uses any J2534 compliant device for diagnostics. It will allow immobilizer functions as well if you are a LSID holder.

      Keith, I have a personal computer running windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit which already has Nissan Consult III Plus installed. I also have the tool kits for the passwords and Pins if I want to use the inmobilizer function. The problem is that right now the program will only look for nissan's Vi2 interface, but I heard there is a way of getting it connected with the PTP2 by modifying the diagnostictools.ini file and also some changes to the registry. That's what I'm looking help with...

    • @L1Training
      @L1Training  Před 6 lety

      I have tried that, it is less than useful, it will work but not read all live data, and will not perform any function. basically its useless.

      hmmm, I have been told the only thing that will not work is the Ignition ON thing... it will not show ON.

    • @L1Training
      @L1Training  Před 6 lety

      it does not show ignition on, and the other items I mentioned are a problem as well. A J2534 device lacks some of the hardware and firmware internally to replace the VI2 with software that is currently available.

      You may need to manually edit the csv to use the displayed part number, if you dont know how to do that, or it doesnt work, the car ecu may be able to be recovered with a consult 3+

    Hey brother is it possible to reprogram an used tcm?

    • @L1Training
      @L1Training  Před 5 lety

      That is a loaded question, depends on the year make and model, on the few that you can, it must have the same exact part number, and most likely has to be a unit that is behind by a calibration so you can flash it and get calibration files in it that match the new vehicle. So the short answer is, just get a new one.

      Keith Perkins I bought used tcm for Nissan Pathfinder (ebay). The car to prog is frontier, so look in Nissan and the number part is 31000 9CA6E, but this parts only appear in blank programming in NERS. So my question is if is possible flash the used TCM Pathfinder to works in Frontier. Sorry I new in this world the programming.

    • @L1Training
      @L1Training  Před 6 lety

      If they are from the same year and have the same original programming calibration yes, if not then no. you have to pull the calibration number from the old pcm and new pcm with the scan tool. Then see if both calibrations that are pulled point to the same new calibration number. If not, then it will not work.
