I’m confused on how to use the cleaning mode ? Dust sits in mine after awhile. I would like to run the clean cycle first but not sure how to know if it’s on.

I'm having issues with black and white particles in mine, even after several cleaning cycles with vinegar as well as bleach. Afraid it's a bust. Trying to run ice 3 times after cleaning to remove particles for clean ice. Looks like I have to clean it every other day.
