      That was 1943..he had 701 plate appearances..Very impressive. As impressive as it is, HOF'er Joe Sewell was the toughest out in baseball history striking out only 114 times in 8333 PA.

    think it was '68 and attended a cards-dodgers game at chavez ravine ... game was called because of rain, one of the very few dodgers have had (and may have been the first) ... somehow we made it down to the clubhouse and i saw some of the players; standing among them was the retired stan musial -- well, i had to do it: i walked up to him and said, "hi, stan", and he said, "how ya doin', pal" -- one of my life's highlights

    Its totally awesome that Stan played high school baseball with Buddy Griffey and not only that but he played on an integrated team about a decade before Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier.

    I have only recently seen a few of Stan Musial's games. But from what I've been told, and from all the places I have looked him up on, he seems to be one of, if not THE, greatest Cardinal to have ever lived

    • @yoniburack3
      @yoniburack3 Před 8 lety +6

      obviously hes the greatest cardinal ever, the question is where does he rank among his contemporaries? well he is 4th on the all time hit list, 3rd in doubles, and 6th in rbis while having a 330 career BA... 7 batting titles... 24 time all star, 3 mvps and 3 world series titles..... it depends how you rank players but he is a top 10 or 15 player of all time.

    • @wimbledon5353
      @wimbledon5353 Před 2 lety

      He IS the greatest to have ever played as a Cardinal. Who else would be greater? Gibson? Maybe, but I don't like comparing position players with Pitchers...

    • @yoniburack3
      @yoniburack3 Před 2 lety

      @@jacob45415 I'm def not mad at that, I'd say realistically between 5-10 with 5th being the highest I can possibly put him. The Mount Rushmore top 4 in my opinion is Ruth, Bonds, Mays, Aaron, and I'd prob put Cobb 5th honestly. What do you say?

    Such a good and decent man. "Stan the Man". I saw him play his last game, and it was in Cincinnati, and wouldn't you know it, the last time at bat he it's a single past Pete Rose at second base.They then took Stan out of the game to a standing ovation. Emotional? Damn right. Rest in peace Stan.
