  • Lava pouring over the Pali at the boundary of Hawaii Volcanos National Park - VNP - and Royal Gardens Subdivision burning the old fence that cuts the two in half. This video was shot in early March 2017 about 2 and 1/2 miles from the Kamokuna Ocean Entry area of the 61g lava flow. The 61g flow is coming out of a vent from Puʻu ʻŌʻō on its East Rift Zone just east of Kīlauea Volcano which continues to erupt at the summit. As of the posting of this video the only surface activity is above the pali a couple of miles southeast of Puʻu ʻŌʻō .

The Big Island of Hawaii, right now the lava is on the coastal plain near Pahoa Hawaii. You just drive to the end of hwy 130 and park any time of day or night then hike or bike out about 3 miles west on the emergency access road. You will see others out at the Pahoehoe Breakouts or early in the morning or after dark you can easily see the red hot lava flows. At this time there are no active flows poring down the pali like this video I shot in early March 2017 but they happen all the time as you will see in my other youtube videos over the last 10 years. This USGS websight will keep you up to date on current lava flows on Hawaii. volcanoes.usgs.gov/volcanoes/kilauea/multimedia_chronology.html?newSearch=true&display=custom&volcano=1&resultsPerPage=20
