Worked like a charm. Thank you. Just got rx3 today
Nice! Love to hear it!
Thank you , My hero! Big Hug from Brazil!
I’ll try it right now
Thank you for watching glad I could help! Hope to catch you on the next episode!
Super helpful, thanks!
thx a ton. appreciate this walk-through. stem-ing a bunch in serato. really rely on it these days
No problem it’s definitely a feature we’ll be seeing more of in the future.
thanks for the tutorial bro, massive help
Thank you for watching glad I could help! Hope to catch you on the next episode!
Legend±! Thank you
Glad I could help! Thanks for watching 🙏🏽 check out the latest episode and keep in touch
What a legend that worked like a charm for my XR3, Please tell me I can do this with using the sample now with my pads?
Awesome glad to hear it! The Midi Mappings should be pretty universal just about finding out what channels it will replace.
Will those stems work in stand alone mode on rx3?
how do u change the color of the pad to light up
Hiya, thanks for the video!
I’ve got a brand new RX3 and I’m trying to add track separation to it by diy midi mapping. However, once I get to the press ‘Learn’ stage, I hit the desired pad on my controller and nothing happens at all! So of course the pads can’t be assigned?!
What am I not doing, or doing incorrectly as it’s driving me nuts!!!
Please help! 🙏🏻
same...
does this also work with the RX2
When I click learn and try to press the pad the pad doesn't turn on nor is there a pop up?
After mapping it if I disconnect the computer it still works?
Can I do this without a computer, from the buil-in Rekordbox software that's on the XDJ?
It's not a stand-alone feature yet, but hopefully, we see some updates from Pioneer that will make it possible soon.
Hi, does this work with XDJ-XZ?
Have you figured out a way to colour code the pads to match the stems, blue green red? Instead of just a white colour when active.
That’s a good question I’ll have to look into that. It would be nice to have the colors coordinated with the effects.
When your mapping has been installed for stems functionality can the RX3 be run as a standalone or does it need the laptop / RB to process the music file for separation?
Not available in stand-alone mode only while using the rekordbox software. It would be awesome to see that feature in future stand alone.
@@MusicGearMondays ahhh booo….ok. Thanks for the reply.
What about with the new Rekordbox app?
@@Harmanjt good question at the time of this video the app didn’t work but they might have had an update since then I’ll have to try it out for one of the next episodes thanks!
@@MusicGearMondaysany news about this?
Is it possible to load the mapping on the controller to use it without computer ?
I want to know that too!
Hey! Would this work on an RX2?
It should it's just a midi map in the software. I would assume on the latest RX2 firmware. Try it out and let us know.
Fully utilizing stems adds a level of complexity I'm not looking to add to my sets. Nevertheless, I'm coming back to open-format mixing after 15 years in the house world. Being able to quickly mute a vocal would be helpful, especially with short pop songs.
Yeah, I hear you definitely have its strengths and weaknesses as a feature as it evolves. It will get more intuitive and also have more uses definitely nice to get those isolations on the fly blending. Have you seen the new denon prime players? They now have stand-alone stem capabilities. I'm interested to see where that all goes as well. But I'm in the same boat with cool features that I don't use as much.
@@MusicGearMondays The prime stuff is cool for mobile DJs if you're playing solo. Litterally everyone I play with uses Pioneer so anything other than that isn't even a consideration. Denon has cool features but they don't outweigh the convenience of everyone being comfortable on the same (rekordbox) system.
@@LeftCat I hear that Pioneer definitely has the market on lock
Can you use it directly on the RX or you need a laptop for them?
You need a laptop 💻 to use this feature
@@MusicGearMondays thanks. I’m thinking lately to buy the RX3 I like the design very much but I’m concerned if it will become obsolete with features soon…
@@nikolakatanic depending on what you looking to do rx3 is a great way to utilize rekordbox, Serato and stand alone sets makes it easy to play a set anywhere but does come with limitations. If your looking for more features and not portability you may want to check out the opus or incest in a mixer and decks that are interchangeable
@@MusicGearMondays exactly on point. The RX3 is a perfect balance for what I need. Opus is too much features that I don’t need, so I don’t see other alternative for portable AIO on Pioneer platform. Honestly the key shift is the only downgrade I see for my needs. Yes the cloud sync would be awesome too but that’s not a dealbreaker right now as it’s not developed so much still. Though they could also release the RX4 soon who knows…
Do it works without the computer plugged in?
Currently need to be junking rekordbox dj software on the computer for this feature
i can't find the link for the rx3
sorry it's been a while sho the video description on the site is a little bit of a scroll but I cut and pasted it Here you go: www.crlcrrll.com/s/XDJ-RX3-STEMSBEATJUMP.csv
How can I stop it from only playing through the laptop speakers?
If you go into your preferences and look for the audio tab, you can select laptop speaker, headphones, or other audio output sources.
@@MusicGearMondays Yeah I tried doing that as well but the only option that its giving me it’s laptop speakers
The RX3 should show up as an option as long as the drivers are properly installed. You can also check your security and firewall settings to see if it's blocking the connection to your hardware. @@SandyDreads
@@MusicGearMondays thanks a lot for the response and the help 🙏🏼
No problem hopefully that helps @@SandyDreads
Can I use the STEMS without the computer?
currently not on the RX3 but there is stem availability on Denon Prime 4. Hopefully we see some updates in stand alone mode by my guess is they will introduce it in future hardware.
Thanks brother!! Let's wait for some updates...@@MusicGearMondays
Hi, any crashing isseus?
There hasen't been any crashing issues, but my MacBook M1 did bog down a little a few weeks back while DJing. I was also running a ton of apps in the background. It hasn't fully crashed yet, but I'm sure the more you put into stems, the more it will eventually overload the GPU. Althoughthe new Rekordbox Update is supposed to help optimize for performance. (New video coming soon) haha
does ist also work in stand alone mode?
Does not work in stand alone at the moment but hopping for future tech implementation 🤞🏾
@@CRLCRRLLTVany news about this?
@@olacta no stems stand alone news yet but Denon’s Prime 4 introduced there’s a few weeks back hopefully pioneer fallows suit sometime in the near future.
Pioneer DJ went for the cheapest and worst iteration of stems they could find on the Market. For a company as big as Pioneer that was pretty late to the game, they had so many options to choose from with better quality stems than what they have. Maybe they are planning to improve the quality and shove it under a subscription? From a rekordbox user point of view, its really frustrating looking at what the other companies are offering. I dont want to make that switch because i feel really in sync with rekordbox but i may end up jumping ship if this is the way its gonna go..lol
I hear you on the quality and I feel like it’s something they will improve. Most pioneer/rekordbox customers play on CDJs or all in one units and they haven’t built that tech into there players yet. Pioneer is like Apple in a sense that they don’t put allot out at once and they slowly update and roll out product to maximize on their profits. Kind of a bummer from a consumer stand point but there are plenty companies to scratch that itch in the mean while like Denon doing some amazing things with their players at a fraction of the cost. I’m a big fan of pioneer but I try to learn and use every piece of gear I can. Why don’t you do both? Serato is free you just need something like Lexicon to sync your library. By the way thanks for watching and opening up some good discussion ✊🏽
I take it this can only be used if using the RX3 in software control mode? If so, that’s a shame. The whole point of the RX3 for me was to get away from using crappy software based internal mixers
Honestly I find stem separation pretty wack anyway. I have industry standard tools for this such as iZotope RX Advanced & Steinberg Spectralayers and even their separation algorithms are far from perfect.
Yeah for now it’s only available in pioneers software. There version of stems isn’t that great anyway they bought Serato recently who has stems separation and sounds light years better but again it’s not stand alone. I’ve seen some really dope routines and sets with stems so there’s definitely a space for it but yeah like you said we need it to be updated and integrated to stand alone. Hopefully we see a firmware update in the future or something that allows this similar to denons prime 4. Until then we just have to keep making our own acapellas and instrumentals for the rx3 and CDJs lol 😆
It is a shame for sure as I also own a RX3, guess a FLX 10 is also on the cards along side the RX3 🙄🤣
Why it's so "complicate"... If it works... why don't put up a better shortcut to set this... My mind is blowing 😂😂😂😂, anyway tnx for this 👊🏻
Lol I agree man you would think since they own the controller they would just make it automatic. Hopefully a firmware update will fix that in the future.
@@CRLCRRLLTV holy truth 🙌🏻
this tutorial is amazing but the track speration in rekordbox is so mediocre compared to serato
It’s all mediocre. I have better tools for this I use in my DAW, than serato, like iZotope RX Advanced & Steinberg Spectralayers Pro, and even those are far from perfect. But both give me better results than I get with Serato Ssmple.
Long story short true stem separation without a lot of cleanup work is not yet possible.
The best tool for it in the production domain is spectralayers imo. The workflow is better for editing the results, as it separates the stems into layers non destructively. As in, as long as you don’t edit anything and save the layers as separate audio files yet, it’s still playing back the raw audio. You can then move any bleed from one layer to another by highlighting them in one layer’s spectrogram and choosing to move it to the layer where it should be (eg moving hi hat bleed artifacts from the vocal layer to the drum layer). This is still non destructive editing until soloing any given layer or saving the stems as their own audio files.
But even with this method it takes A LOT of editing to achieve near perfect results on acapella isolation. I think we are years away from having algorithms so advanced they can produce clean spectral stem separation with one click.
Spectralayers & RX are about as good as it gets. Spectralayers just has better workflow for perfecting the results of what the separation algorithm gives you as a starting point. RX is a bit more clunky to move bleed artifacts between stems
awful
Not a fan of STEMS I see...
