I work at starbucks. I had a customer named Frank who would always misgender me whenever i had to talk to him. one day after ordering from me at the register and calling me "sir" all throughout, he went over to the opposite side of the store and started chatting with the other baristas saying things like "oh so this is where the *real* women are." That kinda crap (Basically talking shit about me to my coworkers) all of them got uncomfortable. My friend Brittany told him thats really offensive and he needs to stop. To which the Frabk replied:
"ya well i dont believe in that transgender bs. Back in my country, we execute people like that.
    .
Brittany is a fiery woman with a heart of gold. She started chewing his ass out. Yelling at him about what a horrible asshole he is for acting like that okay.
So old man Frank, absolutely stunned that hes being yelled at by a 25 year old barista demands to talk to the manager. And Brittanys like, "ya. Let me get him. Im sure hed love to hear this"
My manager comes out and asks whats going on. Frank tells him. And my manager listens very politely. And then says
"Thank you for sharing that with me. Let me get some of your information so i can write a report about this incident. (Gets his full name and phone number) okay and now Im gonna need you to get out of my store."
"But why? She yelled at me. Im a custome-..."
"I dont care Frank. get out. Youre banned. I have your information and if i see you in here again im calling the police for trespassing."

Jepp. These are the kind of people who will euthanise their pup when it snaps at the kid after it has tried to walk away or sleep x-amounts of time without being left alone. Because of course it is "aggressive" if it does so. I've actually heard about a couple who did so with 3 labradors (again; for "aggression") because if the kid wanted to play with it, the pup had to do so.

I think in Germany that is already normalized since as far as I can remember back there was always the word "Erziehungsberechtigter" which is kind of hard to translate, but "Caregiver" would probably the best one. Word for word it would be something like "authorized for upbringing" so it is very generalized. And that was already on about all the forms I had to bring to my parents when I was a child and that was back in the 80s.

    • @hannajung7512
      @hannajung7512 Před rokem +24

@@Valfara770 exactly, this is because in Germany all thos paperwork is highly formalized, and a person that is not legally authorized as "Erziehungsberechtigter" is not even allowed to sign these.
This is because in many cases the "Erziehungsberechtigter" is not a parent, but some other relative, or just one parent is, but the other is not.
And this has been the case for quite some time, especcially after WW2 a lot of children were not in custody of their parents, but of a relative that happened to survive, and children of underage mothers are often given into the legal custody of the parents of the minor until they are old enough to take on the duty themselves.

When I worked in a call center for tech support, we had an irate, misogynistic customer call in. He got a female agent, and demanded her supervisor because "girls don't know computers". So, she escalated to her supervisor...another woman. Again he demanded her manager, he refused to talk to women. So again he was escalated...to the manager, who was another woman. The man was full ranting mad, and demanded "the man in charge." So I, walking back from the break room, was flagged over. (At the time I was one of the "supervisors" who took escalations.)
He was happy he could finally talk to The Man of the call center. So I, being the nice person that I am not, decided to troll the heck out of him. Every time we did a step of trouble shooting, I would put him on hold for 30 seconds to a minute, and then come back and we'd do the next step. This continued for a few minutes until he exploded in anger again and demanded to know why I kept putting him on hold.
I told him, "Sir, you have talked to the tech, and refused their help. You talked to their supervisors and managers, and refused their help, demanding me. I manage this site, I'm not one of the people trained in this. I'm putting you on hold to ask her what to do next." (This was, of course, me talking out of my arse.) He was furious about this, but we resumed troubleshooting. As memory serves, all told, it was an over 1 hour long call, for a problem that would have taken 5-10 minutes for the original agent to fix.

I once worked as a tech support in a big game company for a few months. There was this one time my female coworker expressed how one of her clients kept refusing to let her assist him because “a girl wouldn’t be able to fix a man’s problem” Since we have certain requirements to follow in order to be able to escalate a case to agents in higher tiers, she was stuck trying to convince him to accept her help. She said she was gonna leave the ticket opened and let the system kick it back to other male agents in the team once she got off. But I had an idea and told her, “Y’know what? Send it to my queue, pretend that the system did that on its own. I gotcha” (A little bit of context though, I have an Asian name that’s totally unisex, even people who know my language still wouldn’t have guessed my gender.) So, I got the ticket and introduced myself, telling him how I will be assisting him instead of my colleague since her shift had already ended. I managed to fix his simple problem with one try and when he came back to confirm that the issue was resolved, he ended with “Thanks! This is why a girl shouldn’t do a man’s job.” I saw my opportunity and replied with “You are more than welcome! Thank you for letting this girl helping you out. Have a great day!” Then I closed his ticket, anticipating my team lead to pull me aside the next day but apparently the client never reopened that ticket so I was good. lmao

Sadly, there are Karens in hospital as well. There are people who will screech about wanting a cup of coffee or tea despite knowing you are helping someone to the bathroom or attend to their personal care. We've had people demanding we feed them even though they are fully capable of eating and drinking, again, knowing that it would take assistance away from someone that needs it. Nurses and nursing assistants are there to help people, but, there are some who will try to take advantage of that fact.

A few days later she handed me back a fresh, unopened copy of the same movie. She said the kids wanted to watch it again but accidentally broke the disk trying to get it out. Her kids broke my movie and instead of informing me about it she bought me a replacement. She did tell me what happened after handing me the new copy tho.

About the animal issue. It was 1991. Moma was working as a care-taker who had a 4 yrs old granddaughter. That woman thought it would be a good idea to get her 4 yr old a kitten. This toddler was constantly squeezing the kitten, hitting the kitten because it was to hissing at her, caring the poor kitten by the tail. She also kept the kitten in a rusty cage & she was just too scared to use the litter box....She just stayed curled up in a corner like a frightened child. Then the kitten starting walking funny & had started vomiting up blood. The old lady told moma that she was going to have to get someone to shoot it because she didn't have the money to take it to the vet to put it down humanely. So, my moma, my sister & me devised a plan to "rescue" this poor kitten. While the granddaughter was in Pre-K & while moma was talking the old lady to Wal-Mart - my sister & I "kidnapped" the poor kitten. She was so weak & frail the she merely whimpered & couldn't even fight us off. I wrapped her in a towel & we floored it to the vet. The vet said we may have been too little to late & pretty much said "She doesn't have much longer, maybe a week if lucky." We wasn't ready to give up. We left the cage open so moma could use the line "The kitty probably broke out to die in peace. Cats do that if they are very sick." The lady believed the story.
We named the little kitty K.C. since we didn't expect it to make a comeback....3 days later, she was sowing AMAZING recovery. We took her to another vet. She had tail fractures, a cracked rib, had a skin infection on her back paws, an eye infection, & was fed food that cats can't normally digest. The new vet said that they would like to keep her for 3 days to get her digestive system on track, take care of all the fractures & infections at a discounted rate. If the cat died, she would not charge one penny, but if she lived, she would help us get evidence of the abuse so we could press charges. By a miracle, the kitty not only surviving, but thriving...Complete 180. We did file chrages, but back then Texas didn't have any decent pet abuse laws in the books. The "law" said see was "too old" to go to jail. ( She was in her 70's) & the granddaughter was too young to face court. The didn't fine either since she was "on fixed income" All she basically had to do is sign over the kitten to us & was not allowed to ever have another pet in the state of Texas. K. C. When we told the vet what the court did, we didn't even have to pay a bill. The vet said her survival was payment enough. We renamed K.C. to Kaci & she lived like a pretty, spoiled kitty cat should - with an abundance of love & affection - & she lived to the ripe old age of 12.

Since it was the 90s and this "they are trying the erase the cishet" BS hadn't really taken over and it was a small school where everyone knew everyone, no one thought much of it. But a few weeks after the school year started we found out that a boy that was new in my class had lost both of his parents in an accident and was being raised by his aunt and uncle and the school had the sensibility to realise that putting "parents", "mom" and "dad" everywhere and not include other caregivers on school things (like mothers day and fathers day) would be really hurtful for that boy that had lost his parents and for the people that were taking care of him and had also lost part of their family over that. And after that, in every other school I went to and didn't have "caregivers" included I would tell them this story and ask them to add that, just in case one of their students needed that.

I get that feeling, my friend. I used to be all kinds of -phobic, though for me it was coming solely from a place of misunderstanding. Then I happened to watch a video about asexuality, had a "Oh sh$1" (pardon my french) moment, and slowly but steadily came to the realization that everybody deserves respect, regardless of whether or not I agreed with them on anything, or whether I could relate to them on some level.
Two years later, I'm in a much better place (mentally and physically), while my family tries their best to be compassionate and mindful of my own identity and the identities/experiences of others. I'm not saying they've got it all down pat- me coming out as transmasc last year is a big adjustment for them, though they're not being cruel about it or anything -but they've changed to become better people, once they realized that being -phobic (even out of ignorance) is extremely hurtful to those it takes a poo on.
All that to say, I don't know your situation, and your relationship with those currently in your life can- honestly most likely *does* -vary from mine. But, if God is nudging you to tell somebody IRL, and you know they wouldn't/can't bring your life crashing down, it's not always a stupid idea to act on it.
Also, It's best to prioritize safety first, and to not spin yourself in mental knots when avoidable, all that good stuff- keeping in mind that stuffing a core part of yourself away where nobody will see it tends to end unpleasantly. When all is said and done, the worst thing to do is to innately assume you're alone in your experiences, no matter what said experiences entail. If anything comes out clearly in this long-winded train wreck of a reply, I hope that part does.
(Also if you would like any strategies for explaining asexuality to Christians, I've got some gold to pass on if you'd like. Also a couple really good books with well-done rep, though that might be harder to hide all things considered. Hope you have/had a good day, may your tomorrows always be better than your yesterdays, and God Bless.)

The pups cant be very long with those people so they probably wont even remember by the time theyre grownups. But the kid is effectively taught to view animals as replaceable objects that have to function as she pleases and also this should prevent her from ever wanting to bond with any dog ever again because it gets taken from her anyway. The caregiver thing is more inclusive, a child might be under the care of a family relative or even an older sibling over the age of 18 or a grandparent, which does indeed happen in quite a few circumstances. Caregivers should be given more respect in society (as long as they are giving the child proper care and love) seeing as they take on responsibilities that the parents either can't due to stuff out of their control (which is valid and can't be helped) or won't (AKA: "parents" who do not deserve such a title).

As someone who has owned a Frenchie as well as many other dogs, a few extra special things about that lady's post:
Obedience training really isn't done until after a dog is spayed/neutured, so at least 8 months.
You will not find a Frenchie without allergies. Due to their breeding history, you'd be lucky to find one that could even eat a commercial dog food.
In the US (and c'mon, that lady must be American), it is illegal for a veterinarian to treat a dog who is unvaccinated for rabies. If the woman is that antivax, her dog will never be able to access any form of veterinary care. Most puppies from registered breeders will have already had their rabies vaccines by the time they are given to the new owners.
Puppies will nip and growl as a form of play. Even if this child is being the perfect angel and is completely respectful of the dog's boundaries (and let's be honest, she's TWO, that's unrealistic), her dogs might have been trying to play and bond with her.
Puppies don't come housebroken if they're less than ten weeks old. Not a thing.
Like Clicky said, this pair wants a tamagotchi, not a living breathing animal. People like that shouldn't be pet owners. It's infuriating to me when people act like dogs are just there for the entertainment of people. There's a difference between thinking that your dog is adorable, taking photos, dressing them up, etc., and viewing them as your plaything without a mind of their own.

Isn't it also that puppies aren't given to their new owners until they're at least 12 weeks old? It is definetely done with cats here in Germany (I think dogs too, but I got my last dog 21 years ago, so I'm not exactly up to date), because separating them too soon from their parents and siblings can result in some serious emotional and mental issues.
And I experienced it first hand, my parents in law's cat was separated too early and she can't cope with receiving love. She rubs up to your legs and meows, begging for attention but as soon as you give her attention, she gets confused and aggressive and she will attack you with teeth and claws. And I tried, but no amount of work I put into that animal ever changed anything.

It's a very bad idea to wait that long before starting obedience training. Basic obedience should be started from day 1, its how you establish boundaries with your dog and trust me. Waiting that long will make one hell of a dog to be aroubd. Dogs shouldn't be fixed until at minimum of 2 years old as well, they NEED those hormones until that age as that is when they truly stop growing. Some breeds don't stop growing or maturing until 3+ years old!
A breed I am looking at the breeder I want to work with won't let her puppies be fixed until a minimum of 4 years old. Since their BODIES may stop maturing at 2 their brains don't stop maturing until 3 at the earliest and those hormones are essential for the mental health of the developing dog.

The amount of internalized hatred I had absorbed from the community, school, etc, took years to get over. I grew up never hating those in the LGBTQ, but I did hate myself. The damage is very real, and very toxic. I didn't allow myself to see who I really was for far too long.

    • @lianejaeger8708
      @lianejaeger8708 Před rokem +13

@@thekingwhostitches No worries, I'm happy to explain. ☺️ Demisexual basically means it's a secondary attraction, and there is no sexual attraction until there is an emotional bond or connection. So basically I need to not only get to know the person, but I need to connect to them on a deeper level to feel any intimate connection. I'm sure it can vary a bit for each person, too.
Bisexuality is often defined as being sexually or romantically attracted to both males and females, and can include other genders. Bisexuality is sometimes an umbreIlla term and can include pansexuality. In that case, it's more of a "hearts not parts" attraction, so it includes any gender and attraction to any gender. That being said, it can differ slightly for each person. Being bisexual, I'm attracted to both males and females in both a romantic and sexual way. For me, I find I may have some pansexual leanings because I also include non-binary and transgender people. A lot of times bisexuals will be attracted to cisgender males and females, but that doesn't necessarily mean they would not include other genders.
I'm hoping this explains it better? 😁😁

I played a Karen as a player. Goblin beserker who'd rage in shops and stuff. She lasted two sessions before getting one-shot by Strahd.

I absolutely love both of the stories the two of you have. I definitely need to take note to give some suggestions for the next time we have a family D&D night

That Karen must have nothing else going on in her life that she has to gatekeep being a parent/caregiver

One time I actually went to a fast food place that was conjoined with another one.
I somehow forgot my handbag in the shared bathroom and didn't realise until 40 min later.
I tried calling the store we went to but nobody would pick up, so I ended up calling the conjoined restaurant asking them to check the bathroom. Thankfully they answer, very confused, and my bag was there so I kindly asked them to hold onto it until I had made my way back.
I still appreciate that so incredibly much
