- Kaiserreich: Legacy of the Weltkrieg is a mod for the game Hearts of Iron IV. One that crafted an alternate world where the Central Powers won WWI, and set the 20th century down a different path. Yet this victory, was only the start. This video is a brief overview on the complicated alternate history lore that Kaiserreich created. All that occurs before 1936, when tensions finally boil over.

In this game, a fascist leader called Adam himmler remilitarizes Eastern Prussia, annexes his fellow German neighbors the Netherlands, and invades Lithuania before demanding Belgian territory that used to be part of the German empire. They take all of this to prepare for a war with Switzerland to take out the Italian people.

What’s eerie about this timeline is that when he was still a socialist, Benito Mussolini predicted that the end of World War 1 would bring about a birth of socialism in Europe, and in this timeline, he was right. I’m not pro Mussolini, but it’s just a very eerie thing.
I mean he was right in a way, but not socialism. Radical ideologies became much more popular leading up to WW2

You know, if it wasn't for the fact that it sparked 2 sperate world spanning wars that cost the lives of millions of people, the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand is almost Looney Toons level comical.
2 sperate assassination attempts fail (there's wild stories in those failures too, like an expired cyanide capsule and hot potato with a grenade), leaving the 3rd assassin in line to flee. He fears thier entire plot was sold out, but he still loyally returns to thier predesignated regrouping spot. He's extreme disheartened when suddenly a car passes by the coffee shop he's in. He can't believe his eyes, it's the guy he is plotting to kill, but oh no, he's passed by too fast, you missed him again.
UNTIL HE PULLS RIGHT BACK IN FRONT OF YOU AND STOPS 10 FEET FROM WHERE YOURE SITTING AGAIN.
It honestly seems like a story that time traveler's tell to let other time traveler's know that shouldn't try to change history. Ferdinand was just meant to die that day, fate wasn't having it.
That reminds me, Germany pulled some Looney Toons sh!t in WW2. Their Bunkers would have Air vents, which is obviously a risk since all's you would need to do to clear out a bunker is to drop a grenade in the vent.
What Germany did to counter this was making the Air vent slanted, so if a grenade was chucked in, it wouldn't go into the bunker, then they made a secondary hole in the vent that went out the bottom.
So basically, let's say your running up the beaches of Normandy, you've dodged thousands of MG42 rounds and mortar shells, you reach the small air vent on the side of the enemy bunker. You quickly grab a grenade, pull the pin, and chuck it into the vent. After 2 seconds, you happen to glance down at your feet, only to see that same grenade you threw, right at your feet.

China is basically a proxy and potentially not so proxy war. On the one side is the Quing empire (or the military clique controlling it) as a german client state, on the other is Zhang Zuolin's Fengtian Republic, which is a japanese client, though one a lot more independent than OTL Manchukuo. How actually loyal either of them are to their sugar daddies is... questionable. And then there's the whole mess of warlords and the left and right wings of the KMT all over the south and west of the country whom are all kinda doing their own things and can get involved in the rivalry between the two big boys or make their own plays.
It's a giant confusing mess is what I'm trying to say.

@@Lord-Pierre It started as a Hearts of Iron 2 mod, than it became a Darkest Hour mod (basically HOI2 ultimade edition), skipped HOI3 because that game is a pain in the ass to mod, straight into HOI4.
Darkest Hour is the best WW2 strategy game and anyone who likes HOI4 needs to try it out. So much more freedom to do what you want than any other WW2 game I've played. More scenarios, longer time line, better mechanics, etc. You can do shit like start in 1932 and make Germany Communist before the Nazi's ever come to power and it makes for such a great game. Only thing that might turn people off is that the visuals are dated.

I agree. I’d prefer a book that’s adapted into a video game. I just think video games can tell a longer and more complex story. Just my opinion
There’s a novel called “gray tide in the east” that’s about the central powers winning ww1 and there also one called “The Austrian Painter: What if Germany won ww1” which is about a German soldier’s life in the post war timeline. I highly recommend checking out both of them.
Honestly I don't think alternative history timelines like this work well for movies, because either the viewer doesn't know what's exactly going on or there is a crazy amount of exposition needed. The American civil war might be the best setting, all others I see running into some major problems

Austria-hungary did die as a sovereign state, to be replaced with a looser political alliance that served the same purpose and may or may not last, depending on the playthrough.
For me, its Ok,because part of the actual Austrian Royal Family lives in my country, Mexico and they're amazing, just don't involve into politics because masons ruled the Mexican Republic.
But in this world, probably Mexico Will go into a 3rd Civil War to try again monbarchy, afer all, Germany has always lookup to Mexico as an ally.

All of the autonomies are still Austria-Hungary, ruled by the same Emperor and King, and the various autonomies (outside of Hungary) are still ostensibly subservient not simply to the crown, but the Austrian half of the government in particular. It's just things are so touch-and-go that Vienna will need to rebuild its rapport with the other large minorities/regions to ensure that things can be pulled in to a more unified and standardized system without that the various parts of the empire saying "Nope, we're out. Fuck these KuK ministries we're on our own"

Rick Bergolla It kind of does though, since the US reverts to a sort of state parliamentary system whenever there are more than 2 parties (Congress elects the president by majority votes of the states if nobody gets a majority of delegates). If you seriously have multiple partied competing for the presidency (rather than the Democratic-Populist alliance you’re refering to), feelings of legitimacy get hurt pretty fast.

They're constantly having author tract back-and-forths with the popular Union of Britain socialist authors Enid Blyton, CS Lewis (who never leaves his edgy atheist stage or forms his friendship with Tolkien, and becomes the Union's propaganda minister if Mosley becomes the head of state), HG Wells (notably one of the few voices in favor of retaining religion in society), and Eric Blair (who you may know better in our timeline as George Orwell and later, ironically, takes Lewis' job when the latter steps down).

Fun fact: There's actually another Hoi4 mod called "Führerreich: Legacy of the Great War" which is the polar opposite of Kaiserreich. It's basically 'What if the Entente won WW1?' from the perspective of someone in the Kaiserreich world
