Though I love pretty much all Faun songs (even if this one isn't technically by them) I feel this one is very special. It sounds like I believe music would have sounded in the days of old. Maybe because of the lack of instruments, but it feels like this song had been preserved through the centuries. It's really beautiful.

    Viljið tær nú lýða á
    meðan eg man kvøða
    Um teir ríku konungarnar
sum eg vil nú um røða
    Grani bar gullið av heiði
Brá hann sínum brandi av reiði
    Sjúrður vá á orminum
    Grani bar gullið av heiði
    Fávnir eitur ormurin
    á Glitrarheiði liggur
    Regin er ein góður smiður
    fáum er hann dyggur
    Will you now listen
    whilst I will sing
    about the rich kings
that I will now speak of.
Grani brought gold from the heath,
    hewing his sword in rage,
    Sigurd slew the serpent,
Grani brought gold from the heath.
Fafnir is the name of the dragon
that lies on the Glittering Heath
    Regin is a good blacksmith
    to few is he faithfull

It’s actually 623 verses long ballad. This is ‘Regin smiður’, which is 131 verses long, then comes ‘Brynhildar táttur’, which is 238 verses long, and then comes ‘Høgna táttur’, which is 254 verses long. 131+238+254=623.

This version is great, but I rather miss the epic guitar solo.
