  • Children, gather round! No retreat, no surrender; that is Spartan law. And by Spartan law we will stand and fight... and die. A new age has begun. An age of freedom, and all will know, that 300 Spartans gave their last breath to defend it! The clip is from "300".

The entire 300 legend is just that. The real battle had more than just 300 Spartans on that side. Maybe _a_ speech occurred, but not this one. Nothing like this one.

After Ephialtes led the Persians to the mountain path, Leonidas ordered the bulk of the Greek forces to retreat, likely to preserve them for the battles to come, leaving himself, his 300 Spartans, 900 helots, 400 Thebans and 700 Thespians to make a last stand.

That isnt accurate at all, there are only 4 accounts of this battle in history that was recorded, and everyone always seems to understate the manpower behind it as if they know anything.. The numbers range from 8000 to 23400 to be exact. Never once was "300" spartans ever mentioned. And lets not forget about the 5 different alliances spartan had, So not only was there WAY more than 300 spartans, there was soldiers from 5 other alliances also in this battle. (From all accounts recorded) While the persian armys estimated numbers are all absurdly over-stated, The actual 4 accounts all seem to suggest around 40,000 soldiers, (not 100k or 200k) which people claim for some reason. If you are going to get your information from wikipedia of all places (which any moron can edit) at least fact check it. World of the warriors book probley has the most accurate information. And all accounts suggest, 1200 to 1400 spartan soldiers infact took part with 90% of them dying. As yes even spartan soldiers would run away and or surrender. Which many did. And lets not forget, Your wikipedia information is suggesting only 7000 persian soldiers died, while 4000 spartan & alliance soldiers died, if there was 100k or 200k or 300k like the wiki suggests, how in the fk did only 7000 die.. Yet 4000 died from sparta & friends lmao. @@AidanFarren-Hart
