She’s from Akron, Ohio as are Devo! She worked as a waitress and was a fan of the British Invasion. So somehow she decides to pursue a career as a singer and songwriter and moves to London! I don’t know where she got the gumption to do it but she had the incredible voice which made it all possible. Plus she wrote good songs that fit her vocals perfectly. The rest is history after she put together the Pretenders and their brilliant debut album riding the Punk New Wave explosion that occurred in the late Seventies. The result was a hit album and headlined tours. Then Two original members died. She carriered on. And wrote more hits and kept going! The rest is history! HOF for sure!
I've had a 20 year crush on Chrissy since I first saw her. Maybe some day I'll tell her. Her magnificent voice hasn't changed a bit. She used to wear this black hat with glitter on it when she really got in the mood. I think I'd ask her to keep it on.
You know, when she says balsam is the best rock drummer, one is inclined to think she was being serious. No one drummer is, but he really is incredibly good. It may be that he is consistently this impressive which makes gigging so much easier for a band. It's just a shame that every band isn't this tight playing live.

One day I found out my ex was vocalist in a Pretenders tribute band. I'm like aw hell no. The lame-ass tribute band epidemic has overtaken every stage that once booked original artists and I can't wait for it to pass. So "tribute" anyone else, but _no one fucks with my Pretenders_ . Some things should be held sacred, right? Then shock set in. Turns out they're dead serious, faithfully crushing _all_ the tricky nuances on every tune, including vocals -with _feeling_ 😳 This from an extremely critical protective Pretenders stan. Meh.. guess it happens occasionally 🤷♂

Her autobiography, "Reckless" is a good read. I recommend it.

Reduces noise on stage. Mainly for the players on the stage.

I think on a small stage you want to limit interference between instruments. The audio engineer can control the mix more precisely.
