Miyamoto Musashi The greatest sword master in history

  • Miyamoto was born in 1584 in Harima province,Japan.
Training from a very young age in the way of the sword, Miyamoto had his first duel at the age of 13 against a Samurai called Arima Kihei, killing him in the process.
Perhaps the most famous of his duels and the one that cemented his legacy came in the form of his greatest rival. A Samurai by the name of Sasaki Kojirō. Considered Miyamoto's equal. A duel was agreed between the two of them.
There are varying accounts but according to historians it is believed that Miyamoto showed up several hours late as a sign of disrespect.
Miyamoto had also decided to use a bokken (wooden sword) for the duel.
Sasaki was angry and charged Miyamoto, swinging his sword almost killing him and actually cutting off Miyamoto’s headband in the process.
However as he attacked, Miyamoto cleaved Sasaki’s head, killing him.
Miyamoto is said to have remained undefeated in some 60 duels.
He would go on to write the book of the five rings based on the practice of martial arts. Eventually he would die with sword in hand sitting upright in 1645.

Musashi also timed the fight so that both the sun and the tides helped him; the sun would be shining in Kojiro's eyes, and the retreating tides allowed Musashi to make a hasty getaway in his boat when Kojiro's multiple students went after him.

Honestly, the manga can go a different route. From what I’ve heard, the winner of the duel is unknown because the island where they fought was called Ganryujima, in the honor of the winner (Ganryu Sasaki Kojiro), but also know for certain that Musashi survived that duel. Maybe manga will have them fight and go different ways afterwards

The last part is wrong. The story is that Miyamoto Musashi carved his weapon from an Oar from his boat into a long and heavy wooden pole which he used to beat Saskatoon Kojiro by bashing him on the Head with it. Why an Oar carved to be a long wooden pole? Well Sasaki Kojiro was the real life Sephiroth and he had a long Katana. His his ultimate sword technique was called the Swallow Cutter. Basically it is said his sword swing was so fast he could slice a Swallow in mid flight. Miyamoto Musashi is famous for his Dual Wielding Katana techniques. But he would use any method to win. The Oar he crafted was longer than Kojiro’s Katana. Musashi’s strategy was to gage the reach of Kojiro’s sword, have him swing and miss, then bash him on the head with the pole he made. According to pop culture that is what happened but there are no real accounts from people who actually witnessed the feat, it all could be Folklore. There is another angle where they never fight and Kojiro dies from an illnesses. Back then I think it would be more honorable to die as a Samurai in battle rather than illness. Makes me wonder what kind of illness as Kojiro left his wife for a prostitute who he freed from a Ho house (She was forced into prostitution to pay off a debt), a whole other drama in itself.. He could have died from an STD.

Wtf does he have to do with anime? I practiced combat martial arts for 30 years, and tried to integrate his teachings with what I learned. Was having a argument with a guy on a fighting technique, I Pointe out Musashi, he called me an anime' weeb, said anybody that brought him up had watched too much anime. I've seen Akira, ninja scroll, and vampire hunter D. Don't know anything else about it. So the question is, what gives? What do they have to do with each other???

There was also rumors that he fought in the battle of sekigahara, which was one of the last most brutal battles of the warring period. He rose from nothing into legend through the years following.
Aside from all the terrible shit he's least known for such as beating women, banditry, and raping boys (which was commonplace for his trade) he is still a warrior of great renown

I heard he was drunk and didn't bring a bokken, he forgot his sword because he was drunk, and used his sidearm to carve his boat's oar into a makeshift bokken. (The duel was on an island.)

Personally I like record of ragnarok's depiction of him best because they weren't afraid to stray from the stereotypical ronin image of being extremely lean, agile and tall. Legends about him always describe as an animalistic fighter with the sword skills and unhinged, erratic movements of a demon who loved training and fighting. It's very likely that he was one of the strongest samurai ever and was much more physically built than other samurais, allowing him to move and strike in ways that were unrecognizable to classically trained samurai.

Sitting in a well, frog saying i am the best......
Just see how strong is Sambhaji Maharaj, who could fight with 2 swords simultaneously while riding a horse
(They had to fight battles like- 400 Soldiers vs enemy 40000 soldiers in a single battle, you can't imagine,
And you all think doing 1v1 dual is very difficult
My king use to do 1v 500 .
