Unused Deus Ex conversation: Red Arrow in Wan Chai Market

- Seems like this guy was supposed to greet you somewhere in the market, but was then hidden off to the side. You can see him off to the left of where you start in the T pose. My handy dandy dartstop can knock him out of the T pose and he has this interesting tidbit to tell you. Do note that he is armed, unlike the tea house idiot, and could have been intended to attack you at some point.
Make of it what you like. It's unused content.
My theory:
There was likely a storyline where you actually go to Hong Kong because UNATCO tells you to and this guy would be your welcoming committee for the beginning of the "assassinate Tracer Tong" mission. That having been removed, this guy is forever damned to be off to the side.
And I'm not sure what's up with the the glitchy video stuff. I had to record this several times at various settings to get one this good. I guess the mild Missouri winter is just too hot for Mr. HD4670. - Hry

Actually I've heard there's another variant of this conversation if Paul is alive, in which JC knows Paul is married to Chow before coming to Hong Kong.

The part about Maggie Chow and Paul Denton being married was part of early versions of the story.

I wish. But it would be, understandably, mighty difficult. A lot of the props and characters still exist, but producing the maps and storylines for the UNATCO path would be an epic amount of work. And reproducing the voice acting...wowzers.
This guy does appear in the PS2 version.

The maps for the Whitehouse segment, a lot of conversations, and who knows what else would have to be created for it to work. Otherwise, what's the use? Shifter mod restores a lot of the unused content, but other things (like this conversation) don't really make sense unless you properly have the option to join UNATCO.
That's too bad. But I can assure you that introducing the unused content in Deus Ex is not sufficient for reproducing the unfinished storylines.

If only somebody would make a mod by introducing unused material (conversations and characters); the "uncut, uncensored, director's cut" edition, y'know.
Yes, I read about that mod but there some things that I don't want to be implemented or changed: unique weapons, deadlier npcs and new augmentations; for instance.
My only bet is to wait. for someone with enough skills and patience to do that mod for my taste.

Huh. He's like the Red Arrow equivalent of the Luminous path guy on Tonnochi road that tries to run up to you and you shoot in the face.
I'm torn on whether or not this deserves to be restored in case of an Enhanced Edition.
In the meantime, sucks that the devs never thought of just making the necessary voiced lines, assets, and more new doodads and tidbits in the expectant hopes that other capable folk would create the UNATCO Loyalty route their own way... the modding community would have become godlike heroes by doing such work.
Come on. You know you want the White House and Moon Base missions where you join MJ12.
@StarFleetCommand3 Yeah, I wanted to kill him for points without scaring everyone. Stunned+Fire+Dead seems to work well for that.

Paul isn't your regular old 007-style secret agent. He has morals. Of course he married the villainous bird before sneaking around her not-so-secret MJ12 apartment base.
Of course! That's why he married her! I don't think he married her for her compassion though. Are there any hints in game that indicate that they're married? I remember reading an email sent to her, or a data cube or something like that in her apartment.
And I also remember reading an email on Pauls computer where he was talking to a women, being compassionate to her.
I can't remember off the top of my head if there's any in-game proof of such a thing. Maggie does mention that she knows Paul "intimately", but it might all be a lie to convince JC to work against the Luminous Path.
they two definitely had an affair, but who was the one outsmarting the other is anyone's guess. at least that's what I gather from the game.
Apparently theres a bit more dialogue to this if Paul was killed in the raid (Paul is dead flag has been set to true)
JC: "He got killed in New York."
Red Arrow: "I am sorry to hear that."
JC: "I want to find out what made him risk his life."
Red Arrow: "Well, Mrs Chow welcomes you to visit her at 1313 Tonnochi Road."

In Shifter, if you play in Unrealistic mode, your player model will be your selected MP character. I like the scuba guy because he's clearly the most prepared.

I use Shifter with some custom weapons that I made, but you can do this with vanilla and console commands.
