- Arma II Operation Arrowhead won IGN's most challenging PC game for 2010.
I was a big fan of the very first Flashpoint, and after the split, ArmA, Arma II And this.
This game is very satisfying if you do it right and its very challenging and fun!

I like how in ArmA games most of the time you only get a glimpse of the people you're shooting at, and likewise oftentimes you don't know from where you're getting shot at. The way it is in real life, apparently.
Its true, close quaters is very rare in combat.

Watching my uncle play this game was so interesting... he was in one of the world's best special forces team, if not the best, and endured the most arduous training you can imagine. He fought in the Kosovo war. He was like a ninja in this game :D

I found it interesting that this game was rated 2010's hardest game by IGN..when realistically all you need is patience, a little practice and boom your good. The AI in OA are horrendous, it proves just how much they've dumbed down most games for Casual gamers.
You have to mod the game; then it's not bad.

@GamerDudester Yeah, they were probably focusing on more important aspects, like the realistic simulation of combat.
In 2020 I'm kinda late to the party but looking forward to playing campaign!

I don't think I ever finished the ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead campaign, I got to the mission where you have to disarm a bomb in a factory, failed that, and then I think it didn't let me continue again, I had to restart. Or maybe it continued onto a bad end that discouraged me from trying again? I don't quite remember. I remember this first mission quite well, though, especially the invasion of the airport since I did it so many times.

This is true, the game lacks originality on many fronts in terms of creative plots.
If its really good then yes. It should run descently on an intel 2.5 ghz and 4 gigs of ram at the least. Graphics cards really boost the game.

Just like Falcon BMS and DCS, this game has something that Arma 3 is missing. Maybe is that strange aim point instead of cross-hair, maby the maps had that lived in feel, with every single house having stuff in it, maybe that realistic 90s era setting instead of that futuristic shit, maybe the location were credible and far better made then A3's, but something in A3 fells off, like it's soul is missing
yeah arma 2 was a better time this is the thing it was a better than with friends etc and not work

I have the demo, I have a low end laptop with windows 8 with a i3, the trick is low settings, high objects detail and 100 percent 3d resolution still looks great.

I cant snipe the dude on the first mission, it does it by itself. and i cant play the second mission because it freezes on the loading screen, do you need ARMA II for arma II operation arrowhead? i have the arma II free

@GamerDudester if you have a family or property to protect owning a gun is a pretty good idea, just so long as your properly trained. Pro-Gun Rights does not automatically = Pro-Military.

In a sense, yes.
The maps are large, and you're unrestricted. Using mods such as MCC, or familiarizing yourself with the mission editor, you can turn Arma into a pretty open game.

Dude what are you saying?? Of course ArmA games are full open world. You couldnt pilot a helicopter or fly a jet figther if the world wasnt big enough. its basically a 20km long map and when you reach the boundary you can still fly on and on and on (unlimited terrain with no invisible walls).
You dont need mods to turn ArmA into an open world, just go to editor pick CHernarus or Takistan spawn a jet fighter, pilot it and have fun exploring.

@odin422 Maybe if you're a really naive soldier, (most tend to be until they leave the army). But for someone like me, who is never going to join an army, nor own a gun I really don't see the problem with it. Seems paranoid to say that its brainwashing me. Hell, me getting McDonald's and buying games in general is a more conditioning factor than this game.
arma 2 and arma 2 operation arrowhead are two different games.
@odin422 The argument of do games make people more violent is a very controversial ones. I think the problem with soldiers in Iraq attacking civilians is the fact that the type of idiot that joins the army today is the exact type of idiot that will be able to do such things. Its a problem with the military mentality and the fact that the soldiers go unpunished when they do that shit. Happened in Nam, and happens now. Its not this game's fault I assure you lol.
