    Looks like a great bit of kit. I've got a Triton spindle sander and a Triton thicknesser, and I'm very impressed.

    I wanted to check if you can use this on railway sleepers. have you tried it and would you recommend using it for an outdoor garden project

    Do you think this could do the job of a machine planer? I don't have the space for a proper planer so wondered if something handheld like this would be good enough for planing a variety of wood to accuracy. Thanks

    @johnfithian-franks8276 Před 4 lety +1

    Even when the camera was not on your face I could feel the grin?. I have had one of these for some time now and although it does the same as a planer/thicknesser you just can't take some of the timbers to the machine and you have to take the machine to the timber when that is the case one of these is fantastic.

    I just bought one to replace my old mikita 3 1/4. Can you do decent rabbet cuts? There was a limited depth with the mikita. Thanks.
    Ps, that is a 6x6 you were planing,right? It is a 7 inch. But, like a 2x4, we know measurements aren't always on target.

    How do you set your planer up? I've seen instructions saying that the blades need to stand slightly proud of the rear outfeed plate and this makes no sense to me.

  • @SharpEdgeWoodworking-UK

    Certainly an interesting tool if you need it. How square did the posts come out (if this was a critical factor for you).... We're you able to manipulate the faces square is kinda what I'm getting at??

    • @TheRestorationCouple
      @TheRestorationCouple  Před 4 lety

      They were very close to square to start which helped. Not so critical with oak framing but tbh they’re pretty much square all round.

  • @markhep
    @markhep Před 4 lety +1

    I like it mate you could even turn it upside down on a bench and slide the wood though it the plain is that wide👍👍👍👍

    • @TheRestorationCouple
      @TheRestorationCouple  Před 4 lety +1

      It’s as large and powerful as a 6” planer but would take some ‘rigging’ to make safe and steady with a fence. I’m sure it would work but not sure I’d do it.

    If you were buying your FIRST planner would this be a good tool to start the addiction of woodworking? The only project i am trying to tackle at the moment is making a kitchen table. I currently have no tools for Planing/jointing and will obviously need to create flat surfaces. Please feel free let me know if this is over kill too and if you suggest something else. Thanks in advance!

    • @TheRestorationCouple
      @TheRestorationCouple  Před 4 lety +1

      This would most likely be overkill for anything like that. A good hand plane will get your far, otherwise you could look at a small table top planer thicknesser. Or just source planed square edged timber to start you off perhaps.

    I’d love to see a video covering off all the tools you use - a kit video if you like.
    I’ve just spent 30’mins looking at SDS+ drills and decided on the Erbauer one. I used to have a Dewalt but I have that away when I didn’t need it (wish I didn’t now).
    I’d love to see what you use

  • @paulthewitt

    That was like an advert for triton! 😂
    I hate my current cheap electric plane to the point I stole my in-laws Stanley hand plane (after mocking the old School) and I haven’t yet given it back.
    This video makes me want one of these though... I have no uses for it, but I still want one now ! 🙄😬

    • @TheRestorationCouple
      @TheRestorationCouple  Před 4 lety

      Unfortunately not, spent my own pocket money. I do have a cheap small one but like you prefer a sharp hand plane for small stuff.
