I have read many dharmashastras and there are lots of discriminatory passages against women and lower castes......however good thing is that dharmashatras were hardly followed by any hindu king.
True, there are discriminatory shlokas.
Not true that kings didn't follow. History back then was only written by people in power. And how do we know who had power? The same books the power handling people wrote.
Every civilization, every kingdom needs a penal code or a constitution to perform the daily affairs. After independence we have our constitution to tell us who we should be, and out IPC tells us what will happen of you break the rules
What do you think the kings followed before the constitution? We know what Christian kings followed, and we know what Kingdoms in middle East followed. What do you think our Hindu kings followed as penal code or constitution?

@@SatyaAnveshijust like science in history we can only make statements based on evidence. From a point of neutral observation by foreign travellers most of them described indian kings as peaceful and liberal in their approach.

Mourya kings have stone inscriptions to prove what their thought process was and in some places even bits of their penal code is also found.
For Hindu kings, there is always a Brahmin who "advises" the king about what the shastras say. What shastras did they follow?
This is not an extraordinary claim that I am making. You probably didn't understand this video but i show from many smruthis and Mahabharata also. In fact most of the screenshots are in Sanskrit and Hindi. Watch them and see for yourself.

Only after the modern science and medicine advanced to great heights, our sanatanavaadis understood they are losing ground. Even in my childhood, I read about a swamiji who would not travel in a car. One approach to maintain the old state is to undermine science and place spiritualism above. That didn't work. So gobble up science and say it was already there in our scriptures. About the verses from Bhagavadgita quoted by you regarding dharma, the context might be important. Krishna was trying to convince Arjuna to keep fighting and killing when he was reluctant to do so. Krishna might not mean what he said literally.
But these bhakts quote those same verses as a lesson for all other contexts in life? Why are they allowed to do that? 😊

Then they should have given that reason somewhere. Atleast in one place, they should have mentioned the reason. Not one place they gave the reason.
