Most of my metal targets at the parks are very close to the surface. I'll first use my pinpointer to locate the target before digging. Using a small dig tool to acquire the item saves on digging a bigger hole.

Hello PracticalKen ! I primarily water hunt and scuba dive so I lean towards the Deus II because of the bone conduction headphones and its water depth rating. If I could only have 1 I’d go with the Deus II . If I was a beach hunter and on land more it would be close because those minelab tones and the manticore screen are top notch. Both machines being updatable should just improve with time . Exciting time to be a metal detecting.
