- His skating has never disappointed, but this part made it a written-in-stone, fact of life: Koston's an all-time best. And this was years before Yeah, Right! and Fully Flared. Daryl Angel describes a classic.

There's just something so nostalgic about watching koston skate in baggy jeans/cargo pants and basketball shoes. Oh and the occasional Lakers jersey haha. Man it brings back memories. Golden Era of skateboarding. The 2000s
Late 90’s early 00’s were golden years of skating
Treeezplz they were just the horrible over sized Es lol. They made awesome shoes but they also made horrible ones
Basketball shoes....?? Hes wearing the koston 3's....
No basketball shoes my dude those were the koston 1.0s
@@TheDangerousKid those were dope. Are you blind? LoL
Watching this dawned a realization that TIME is real. Tangible. In every way, shape and form, life is so different. Every emotion evoked watching this and thinking back and never thinking then that we all would age and our teenage or early 20s self would cease to exist. There are some emotions and feelings I felt then and never again. Unreal and no words to express.
Life is one of those journeys that can only be traversed forwards but understood backwards
Right on
This was the best time in skateboarding. Literally some of the most important videos came out around this era. And in general things were much more interesting. You had to physically wait to buy a VHS to get the latest content. The excitement of getting the latest skating video was immense.
The local skate shop would play the new videos and it was always an epic time.
I'm glad you can just watch them on youtube now. They were fucking expensive!
@@hmstrong6694 Yeah, I remember when a new video would come in to the skate shop and me and my buddies would pester the employees there to play the video and we would just stand there for like a whole hour watching the videos until it was over. Great times.
Kyle Elsmore I try to explain it to young kids. It’s hard
@@hmstrong6694 yes wow, and crews of kids would be around the skate shop skating outside
In my teens this guy was a beast man I miss the 90's
"menikmati" is Indonesian language, which means "enjoy it" 😉
Watercooled Performance 19 now

So glad to have been a skater in this era.
Can't count how many times I watched this video in the basement with my homies to hype us up for a day of skating.
This was the first skate video I purchased. I filled the Tony Hawk pro skater wave in the early 2000s. 2023 and I’m still freakin here boys!
I acctually had this video back in the day It's amazing
Same
That Nollie-heel Noseslide down the Wilshire 10 changed skateboarding... my VHS tape is worn out because I rewound it so many times!!!
Henry Feenie can u pls provide a time stamp, for those of us less literate in skating?
Cassidy Preston 5:38
Facts and his 3 flip noseblunt in yeah right
Erica koston is the most over rated skater 😢. Sit down 😅
@@User_92020troll. Must've not been around then
First skate movie i ever saw. I remember when i bought my first board the skateshop gave me this movie as a gift. Then koston became one of my hero. The first board i chose was a girl koston and i can't remember how many times i watch this movie.
menikmati had one of the most original soundtracks
When Nike was far away
viehlee Nike sux go adidas
viehlee I had the kosten 2s awesome shoe
rayson raypay Nike and Adidas both suck
Back when skaters were like a lil secret society. Floating around relatively unnoticed and in smaller tight knit groups going to office complex and school yards after hours. Now I can't even go to a spot without the "hey they have skateparks speech" or skate fast in a SKATEpark without soccer moms telling me how skateboards should behave, while their kid sits on the box. Thanks. Old man back in the good ol days rant.
Yeah, i cannot stop thinking about that
How the world has fucked itself. 18 year veteran myself....I feel your pain.-
Glad I'm not the only one who's noticed this
+MIKE KILROY SO MUCH TRUTH!!!
+MIKE KILROY yeah.... skateboarding isn't what it was 10 yrs ago.... :( i skate for 14 years now... and miss the good old days... it makes me sad
There's a reason the statement "Koston is the best to ever do it" is held so high in the skateboarding community, still to this day I can't think of one skater with such unique insane style with a bag of tricks like Koston had back then
Tom Penny
@@eatassonthefirstdate You got me there can't argue with that 🤣
@@recession81 lol Penny n Koston was IT from like 95 thru 98. Then Penny fell off the face of the earth til Menikmati dropped but Koston kept going n going n going and to this day nobody has put out as many ill video parts spanning 20 sum years as he has. Not even Nyjah has skated at the top echelon level as long as Koston did. He's on his way but he hasn't hit that 20 yr mark of basically being on top yet.
Muska had that potential, so did Kareem but they both fell off due to personal issues and too much partying.
Reynolds and Stevie Williams is up there tho.
Sick how the beat goes in sync with his skating in this clip
as Daryl would say, it's pretty memorable (x10).
In 23 years I haven't seen anybody mention how many nollie and switch tricks are in this video. Homie made at least 85% of his part skating switch. Insane. And the fact that skateboarding is getting better and gnarlier is even crazier!
20 years ago. Kill me now. I remember every second of this burned into my brain. All of menekmati and dying to live lol
Photosynthesis
Fulfill the Dream too.
Transworld was putting out disgusting vids in that time frame too, from like 97-98 til 01-02 Every TWS video was insanity. Man I'd even watch their trick tip videos! Lol
now this is what i call a legend in his prime. this guy is still one of the greatest skaters that ever lived and this video part is still amazing today
My dad use to blast this song at his BBQs and partys back in it day. He loved kostons track,
First part that made me truly understand the art of skateboarding! Koston is legend!
this was the first skate video that i ever watched. feels like im goin back down memory lane.
Thnx Eric for inventing the K-Grind , you're the best inspiration a skateboarder could have.
His skating is timed perfectly with the music.
Love how he lands the tricks on beat every time
Nice
I noticed that too
my first nickname ever on the Internet was menikmati because of this Video 😂 we watched that video a million times back then. golden days
this part would still be amazing if it came out now
I was so amazed by Menikmati the first time i saw it. To this day It still holds up as one of my favorites..
one of the best skate vids of all time
The music is fantastic! That part set a threshold in the skateboarding Era!
This is a Legendary video. Kids, he is not just fun guy doing only slappy grind. He is on the top of my favourite skater list and probably most balanced skater.
#1 favorite skate movie. All bangers!!
this video made want to learn nollie noseslide back in the day
this whole video is just timeless!
The music... the snare hits everytime the board does as well. Dope work
Every part in this video is gold! Arto, TX, McCrank, Koston, Burnquist even Penny and Creager had good parts. And this is one of the first videos where it felt crafted by a director. French Fred forever!
Koston has to be one of the all-time greats. Legend status for sure.
Best Era by far!! Kareem Campbell,Koston,Chet Thomas,Guy Mariano were heros for me!!! Skate or Die!!
This was suchhh a good video. I remember i was 10 years old when this dropped i was like mesmerized. It was the first of the real cinematic skate videos. I always loved how kostons tricks lined up with the beat.
Man I remember watching this for the first of about a thousand times back when it was first released. I was prob 16 or 17 at the time and skateboarding was life for my friends and I. This part is so well put together and koston doing what he does best. Awesome to rewatch many years later. Still gives me chills lol
Yeah, I remember watching this for the first time too with my friends after waiting for the vid to release for months. Was looking for a new Tom Penny part but the whole vid blew me a way. Good times!
wow, even back then koston was killin it as hard as some of our modern pros
Where has this part been all my life its unbelievable
1:56 and onwards, I like how some of his grinds/landings are timed to the music, lol. Sick video.
yeah! So dope!
This yeah right, falling down, mouse , goldfish, fully flared? Do we really need another koston video to show godly this guy is
Everything about this part is perfect. It's been my favorite easily since Menikmati came out.
props to whoever edited this part
I had the eS koston 1s and 2s. Koston is the greatest of all time.
I always loved this part cuz they did a great job of paring the landing sound of the sk8board with the song. Koston was a huge inspiration to me when I was growing up, too bad I dropped skateboarding 17 years ago, I should have kept going.
I miss my K1's
Those were my favorite shoes.
damn, i think it's one of the best filmed parts too.. so nice to watch
I was in highschool when this video came out. I've always thought it was one of the best skate videos to ever come out. I still do to this day. If that video were to come out today it would still be considered an amazing video. And Eric's part would still be considered jaw dropping good. Stuff that comes out nowadays just don't seem to have as many hammers as this video did...and this was from 12, 13 years ago!
Bro, look how good every frame is timed with the beat
What a great video and awesome editing. Koston kills it
Now, THATS a classic.. And he is still going strong today after 24 years of skating..
not so now lol.
That backside nose slide down the 18 stair was rad
damn. this takes me back. koston back then was my inspiration to skate. shame i've given it up now :( my biggest regret.
Did you ever start skating again? Been 10 years now lol
song named Theme for the Outcaste by Pressure Drop
Koston was so legendary. And those es K3s are immaculate!! Bring those back. Wtf are you guys doing!
this editing is gold
everything is so clean
Great editing!
What I find so fascinating about the music being synced up to the skating is that it makes me aware of the 'music' of skateboarding. There's definitely some kind of rhythmic component to it, a flow of emotion brought about by meticulous repetition and mastery which can then be felt by the spectator.
Music is synced up with some of his landings. noicee
I have seen this shit so many times but im also just blown away by his style and finesse
holy shit i totally forgot about this video but i remember being so blown away. koston has always been one my my favorite skaters too so this is a nice dose of nostalgia.
That frontside 180 boardslide tap over the stairs at 2:39 is majestic
I remember my best skate-buddy’s older brother hand me over a copied vhs cassette that said “Menikmati” on the home made sticker. “You should definitely watch this”. And I did, to many times to count. Legendary. Tom penny, Arto Saari and ofc Koston.
man i love the 2000s style with those basketball shoes xD
Menikmati will always be top 3 best videos of all time
Menikmati was the first video i ever watched. fucken sweet.
Legend
No tempo que o Eric koston tava no auge! ✌😎
Damn i miss this video... i miss arto saari....i have been meet them at hongkong and i've got foto both of them....helll yeahhhh!!!
Fantastic editing with him landing in time with the drums. Who ever did the editing. Well done👏🏼. Oh and Erick koston was a beast!!
Its amazing to me how much skateboarding has evolved in ten years. This is amazing
10 years later?
I have Menikmati sitting in my DVD player now. Haha the nostalgia... ROCKET!
Oh and I almost forgot, had a pair of the Scheme's as well. Those were awesome to skate in.
Finally I found the song.!!!! YESSSS
Is this song available anywhere else?
Yesss sir, I got the link
czcams.com/video/96Fwts0Tc44/video.html
the line at le dome was amazing!
3:19 is on vanowen in north Hollywood. I used to live across the street.
epic video, epic part. does anyone else agree: EVERY SINGLE TRICK IS AN ENDER.
MENIKMATI
Esse é um dos melhores com certeza!
That switch frontside heelflip varial 04:35 was one of the dopest tricks I think he ever put down.
Maybe that Nollie to Nosebluntslide at 02:08 was his dopest trick. Something about how he rode away after that looked so clean.
Skater of the years
Him and Chad muska were my two Idols back then. I started skate boarding in 1999. Those two were doing big and new things back then. And Eric was doing incredible stuff in switch position. By 2005 i got pretty good but injuries are often and tough on the body when boarding. And two broken ankles and a broken arm, made me stop. I wish I could of been half as good as muska and kostin. My favorite skate video was fulfill the dream.
17 years of this Clasic .Damn im old
5:54 that was the best Bs Nose Blunt I ever seen in my life.
always remember his nollie nose grinds from this part. perfection..
damn homie this shits already a classic, i was in middle school, got this banger on vhs
My lady is your name right now as i type! Hahahahaha B=D (I)
Koston! The hollow 139 kostons are the first pair of trucks I grinded through. Ah the memories.
forgot how well the music worked in this part
Ah man the k3's. Best shoes I ever skated. Who would dislike this video. Probly koston for a laugh.
First skate video I ever bought! on VHS!
if you think koston is one of the most underrated yet gnarliest skaters ever like this!
Nearly 20 years later and there's a few tricks in here that would hold up today....
for a vid thats almost 11 years old it well edited!
I remember many of these video parts from THPS2 and ir's funny because most of all these spots K hit was also spots that appeared in the baker2G video in 2001!
Classic part, no argument, but you couldn't tell from the borderline catatonic commentary. "Ehr...that [names trick]...that was...pretty memorable...". FFS, if the commentary doesn't add anything in the way of either information or enthusiasm, why bother mixing it in at all?
quiet you
Yes that voiceover was fucking shit.
Yeah man totally ruined it. The soundtrack to the entire vid makes it that much more iconic.
@@manutdtreble7 Wait, iconic? The soundtrack in this video was the skateboard equivalent to muzak.
