I am both shocked and impressed how well that harbor freight tool worked. Thanks for the review. I won’t be getting ripped off by any tire shops anymore!

Yeah it works great! I also used it to change an 18” tire on my f150 it done great there too just have to watch the finish on the wheels as it is easy to scuff them with the supplied tools but I’ve seen some mods used on the same changer to eliminate that

Thank you for this video. I spent an hour fighting a tire until you showed me how to use the tool

I bought one of these after watching one of your tire changing videos. You did it better. I wish someone would have told me they glued the tire to the bead before I started. You didn't cover that in your video. Spoiler I used heat to warm up the rim and release the glue.

They may have used dawn dish detergent to mount the tire, it will cause it to stick like glue

Good demo of the changer....now let the discussions begin about plugs vs. patches vs. stemmed patches...lol. Safety Seal makes a good patch "overcoating" for internal patches, I'm sure others have similar products. I patched a bunch of tires with my Dad back in the day and we never used any overcoating but we were meticulous about surface prep (removed ridges-but I'm sure someone will disagree with that). What I've learned since is that since an internal patch only stops air from getting out the remaining wound that would get sealed with a plug is now a path for moisture ingress into the steel cording which can lead to rusting and eventual ply separation. In our case that wasn't often an issue because he wore out tires quickly enough I guess they didn't have time to degrade but on a low use trailer tire it might be something to keep an eye on...I've got one right now that I'm considering injecting the overcoating into to seal from the outside and backing up with an internal patch (for use as a spare only) but not sure how successful that process will be. I carry a quality plug kit for just in case, some people swear by them as a permanent fix others decry them as downright dangerous. An extra full size spare is the best solution, but a plugged tire that will roll beats waiting on help any day..one thing I'm pretty certain of, "mushroom" plugs are NOT the answer, good old gooey bacon strips for me..

Yeah so far my patch is holding air but I have used the good old gooey plugs for years with great luck and never had a problem with one coming out

I had one and a really stubborn tire. Pushed with all my might tire wouldn’t break but the two side pieces of medal broke. It’s junk unless you’re a welder.

HF gave me a 25% off coupon to use up the next several days, I think I'm gonna pick one of these up and a bubble balancer. The tire prices at tires shops have just gotten to be a bit too much for me.

@@WilliamsonRidge I picked it up today, got it for a whopping $45.99 with the coupon I had. I used it to change some riding mower tires, wasn't able to use it to mount and dismount but I was able to use the bead breaker at least since the bearing holes were so small. The bead breaker seems to be stouter than the red ones I saw in other videos.
