“How do two brothers get into the nail care business?” This is the single most common question people ask us. There’s a long and rocky version but we’ll give you the short one. We have our fearless and unconventional mother, Young Salo, to thank. With a single-minded entrepreneurial spirit, she decided to start her own business at the age of 49. She had a passion for the nail industry and we did everything in our power to support her. In the end, this is a family business.
Greg, the older brother, became a licensed nail technician after switching gears from fire fighter’s training. He is energy personified and has a true passion for developing the best professional nail care products and education. Habib is the younger brother. He jumped in a few years later; taking a detour from medical school and a life in music. He brings his own creative mind for business, marketing and strategy. Unexpectedly, we are a perfect team.
Today, more than 20 years later, Young Nails Inc., is a professional nail care manufacturing company exporting to over 40 countries worldwide and distributing domestically to over 3000 stores. We’re respected for our next-level product innovation and education. Our mission is to bring you the best quality products and we’ll show you how to use them with incredible results. It’s really that simple.
Welcome to the Young Nails family!

Little tip for anyone looking into getting their first e-file: Don’t waste your time and money on getting a cheap “starter” e-file! Especially if u plan on upgrading eventually. Just get a high quality one right out of the gate. It will make learning and practicing soooo much easier and potentially less scary😅!! I’ve heard great things about Erica’s ATA (and also Young Nails of course!), I personally have the Medicool Pro Power 35k portable and I really love how smooth it is! Ok that was a lot, props to anyone who actually reads all this😂❤️❤️❤️

My first file was a $20 one from Amazon and while it was a tiny bit better than hand filing, it was AWFUL. I am now using a $60 one and recently got a chance to use a $300 one, all I can say is WOW. While I have goals of someday becoming a nail tech I am currently just buying products for my own use, and having spent what I have on cheap items, if I were a licensed nail tech looking for my first file I HIGHLY recommend getting the absolute best you can afford. You will end up doing so anyway, as I have just as a consumer/DIY person. This advice is spot on.

I had the opposite experience. As I just posted TO GET one from Amazon because it helped me learn how to NOT hurt myself. Once I figured that out on my crappy one - I felt better about investing in a higher quality one. But that was my experience so🤷‍♀️

Jelly polishes are a must. They can make a collection of 20 polishes turn into a arsenal of about 80 colours !

Funny thing- I was just saying to my coworker that I hate the dust collector sound! I refuse to have one because the noise ..uugghh...Even my e-file will sometimes get on my nerves! Lol.
As far as affordable e-files- I started out with ones on Amazon because they are fairly reasonable and just like my acrylic brush - I didn't want an expensive one until I became confident that I wouldn't ruin it. Amazing nail supplies aren't cheap. I started with lower quality products because I knew I would waste a lot from practicing all day everyday or in between clients. Now that I am getting more confident I am investing in higher quality and BOY what a difference! There's my speech for the day!😆

What should we look for in a lamp? Wattage and things like that. I got a £120 lamp from my local nail supply store and then a £18 one from amazon and they‘re both LED and both cure every gel polish brand I use. Generally speaking, this will cure most products, but since we don't test our light with other brands, we can't guarantee that. Every product line is different and may require a different lamp, so the right wattage may depend on the product you use.

    • @youngnailsinc

It could be the efile or you might just need more practice to get comfortable using it. We recommend practicing on a trainer hand until you at least feel comfortable holding and maneuvering the hand piece. Once you are comfortable, start practicing on yourself. This way you can feel the right amount of pressure and speed. When you feel comfortable working on yourself, just transfer these techniques to other people.
