I was told once that thunder sounds differently in relation to its location and where you are, and that there are different types of thunder sound.
I'm talking of thunder ranging from long and bassy when it's distant, and when it's right on top of you, it can sound like a gun shot or the percieved sound of the atmosphere being ripped apart.
it's fascinating stuff (is now I'm comfortable with storms, but only if I'm at home
🙃) and how lightning squeals on an a.m. radio sound between distant and close by.
