  • This video shows a glimpse into what it's like to be a Supply Corps Officer on the USS Bataan. It features CDR Mark Bowmer, SC, USN. Bowmer was selected for promotion to the rank of Captain in May 2020.
This video was produced by Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP)
NAVSUP's mission is to deliver sustained global logistics and quality-of-life support to the Navy and Joint warfighter. We manage supply chains that provide material for Navy aircraft, surface ships, submarines and their associated weapons systems. We provide centralized inventory management for Navy's non-nuclear ordnance stockpile. We provide a wide range of base operating and waterfront logistics support services, coordinating material deliveries, contracting for supplies and services, and providing material management and warehousing services.
We are responsible for many of the Quality of Life programs that touch the lives of Sailors and their families every day, including Navy Exchanges, Navy Lodges, the Navy Personal Property Program, and the Navy Postal System. We administer the Navy Food Service Program, with responsibility for the policies and procedures that govern the day to day operations of general messes afloat and ashore.

24 year enlisted Submarine sailor. My advice, If you join the Navy, do so as an officer. Supply Officer is a good choice.

I’m ganna join the navy, do officers work at computers? If so I’ll join as enlisted I hate desk jobs

@@sunderhaufad2964 SMH!! I understand your mentality. I thought like that too. I wanted to be a part of the Have Nots, who just keep their heads down and grind. Then I was an E-5 stationed in VA and I realized that retirement pay a 30 year Master Chief is close to prior enlisted Lieutenant at 20 years. Don't worry, it all sucks Enlisted and Officer. As an officer you get to decide if you want to sit in the desk or get out there and grind. As an enlisted your job is to grind and at the end of a career you get skittles for pension, some disability and information on how to get another job. Go ahead and enlist, but don't lose sight of the fact that one day you'll be a civilian again. It's better to leave with a large pension, because pride can't buy your groceries.

I’m ex-Navy enlisted. My son just graduated from Navy OCS last weekend and is going into supply. I couldn’t be happier or prouder. He’s making far better choices than I ever did. If you go Navy, go officer.

Great video! I remember watching the older video that came out almost a decade ago prior to going to OCS and it was very helpful. This video is a nice update and gives an accurate view of what a big deck Suppo goes through
