another thing to mention is that make sure you have enough felt for the mask! when cutting the felt, lay the mask on top of the felt and cut about 2-4 inches away from the mask. since the mask is a curved surface, you'll need more than just the shape of the mask to get a clean glue. great video!!
Glueing it first helps with this, and is altogether a better option. PhenicFox did this in the video. (Just trying to help not criticize)

another thing if your risky w/ hot glue, from my experiences i recommend having a cold glass filled with water beside you (obv away from the mask to prevent water damage) incase you burn yourself -- helped me if i can say the least!
Room temperature water is best for burns, it will prevent more damage. Cold water reduces blood flow, reversing the healing process of the burn.
For the eyes i just use my sciccors to push it down to avoid burns
"dont get burnt" as someone whos been burnt 3 times by making my own mask, i see this as an absolute win
I would recommend saying just a mask, because saying therian mask makes people think you have to be a therian to have a mask, or you have to have a mask to be a therian:

This is like the only tutorials I can watch all the way through with ought actually doing the steps (meaning I can just watch it for fun with ought going insane with the *✨AsmRr✨*
Tips for people: if u have a muzzle or/and ears extension id recommend using separate pieces of felt for the muzzle and ears cause it is impossible to felt without creases otherwise

Idk I usually use crayons and markers and it ends up fine.
You could try using fabric paint meant for fabrics im not an expert but that might help you

It’s honestly the same for me, i believe it depends on how much paint you use and how you blend it in. On my cross fox mask (my main mask) it feels rock hard because of how many layers of paint added

Btw, phenic, you can use parchment paper to protect your desk when using hot glue, the glue simply peels off. I do it every time i make masks! But you gotta press it down with smth first so it stays flat.
I did ears to bottom, but I still watched because it gave me comfort listening to someone who has experience unlike me 😊

AH I WAS JUST THINKING HOW NOSTALGIC THE ANIMAL JAM MUSIC IS!
One time i felted a mask, when i finished it there were tons of big wrinkles so i cut them out and painted them blakc and turned it into a tiger mask, the wrinkles made the stripes more realistic.

great tutorial! here are some questions bc i might order some gear soon.
1. is felting optional?
2. what is felting even for?
3. any recommended stuff for eyes?
4. what do you use for fur?
I’m a newly awakened therian, but of course felting is optional, that’s all I know at the moment about making masks or gear.
Felting is optional, the felt is to make it look more realistic like fur, (so if you want something that’s not having fur i wouldn’t recommend felt), I use buckram mesh for eyes , and faux fur for fur :)

Felting is optional, you can also paint your mask instead of felting

Tip: To prevent lumps in your mask, maybe heat up your hot glue gun prettyyyyyyy hot so it won’t dry lumpy after like two seconds! :3

I'm a new therian, and this helped me a lot! also, I am very good with hot glue, and one tip so you don't get as many glue strings, wipe the tip of the glue gun on something after you glue it, like the mask itself or the felt, something close to the glue you placed and THEN pull it off, if you're glue gun gets really hot, ignore me. :P
What do you do if you wear glasses? Like how do I wear my glasses and the mask at the same time?
It kinda just pushes against your face (the glasses)

I just have a question Phenic - do you paint your eye mesh ? Cause when I paint my eye mesh I couldn’t see through it and yours just looks so pretty and vibrant
You could try using something thin and sturdy to break through the paint so the holes are still there, I don’t have any masks so don’t get ur hopes up if u try what I’ve suggested here
Or maybe use thinner paint or a pen u go over the lines
Or water down you paint and uh or just use permanent markers

dab it with a sponge! Add in details with either markers or tiny bushes, but dabbing it w a sponge prevents the paint from clogging up!

Hi Phenic!! I have a question about fox/wolf mask. How do you glue the longer muzzle from the cardboard? For example, a fox or a wolf?

Nobody knows lol, but I do see a lot of people cut the muzzle off the cat and use cardboard or foam to make the muzzle then stick it on.

I personally cut like a strip of cardboard and glue it onto the mask and then attach the muzzle to that
