This figure is a must-get IMO! A lot of people see this as a very minor upgrade (and it is tbh), but Hasbro's Wolverine figures were already great and this just takes it to the next level. It basically adds pinless joints and new sculpting to the old Wolverine figures, and that's good enough for me. Call me crazy, but I actually prefer Hasbro's Wolverine figures over the Mafex Wolverine figures. The Mafex Wolverine figures always looked a little lanky and too tall to me, whereas the Hasbro Wolverine figures are shorter and have more accurate stocky proportions
💯 Love this Wolverine! That unmasked head is the best one yet. Also love the shade of blue. I completely agree with your thoughts on the Mafex, he looks quite skinny compared to the Hasbro. When it comes to Wolverine I haven't seen any company top Hasbro yet! Can't wait for Gambit!
i also think the mafex wolverine looks a bit... waxy? if that makes any sense? like the plastic they use reminds me of gundam model kits this new '97 wolverine looks like a must have for sure. i just started collecting this year so im lookin forward to grabbing this for my collection

Actually, it appears that all the 97 wave is reissues with new head sculpts and pinless limbs. Also noticed that Rogues boots this time are actually sculpted as part of her leg instead of having the different pieces slid on top. The torsos all appear to still be the same as their previous figures. Don’t misunderstand, I’m EXTREMELY excited about this wave as I wasn’t collecting when the original versions released and all are MUST OWNS for me. Hoping I’ll be able to find all of them. Wolverine took a 30 minute road trip to another town to find in stock, but got him nonetheless..
I feel like im constantly looking for my ideal animated and MvC Logan. I appreciate all the new sculpting, but really its the new heads and the animated claws that I prefer, otherwise, Im fairly happy with what Ive got already. I prefer the legs and boots on older versions, sharper and more details, though the sculpted trunks are nice. If these were all the same colors I'd just swap parts around.
If we’re being picky, I also like the old boots more than these new boots. As far as comic designs go, I usually prefer exaggerated looks, and that’s how I feel about the boots. I preferred the way the old boots flared out more
That's probably same for me. The marvel vs Capcom sprite has left such an influence of my impression of that design, and the boot cuffs are heavily emphasized.
The unpainted arm hair doesn't bother me. I can fix that. The "stubble" bothers me. I can't remove that without taking off his flesh paint. Everything else is fine though. I still prefer the love triangle one with the comic accurate darker blue and smaller mask ears, but no denying this version is just as crucial.
Very solid wave, I like Bishop and Wolverine, hope you review Rogue. If they do Morph again, won't be with that body mold, he is shorter and slimer on this series.
I like the upgrades the delivered on this wolvi figure but I hope they bring a better figure for next 50th wolverine comic anniversary since his first appearance.

Great review..I love it. I'm new to collecting marvel legends and don't own any of the figures that are in this wave. I have the full wave on pre order and can't wait to get them.
One aspect about this new Wolverine I noticed IMMEDIATELY is that his butterfly joints were MUCH easier to move and were able to take advantage of the FULL range of motion vs my older Wolverines which couldn’t quite take advantage of the whole butterfly joint. Now just need some “bone” claw hands that match this new one!! This new Wolverine is easily my 2nd favorite Legend’s Wolverine. My number one is the recent retro “team uniform” wolvie because of nostalgia bias as the old toy biz Wolverine “3” was my favorite toy as a kid. (Sad I couldn’t get the SDCC Mezco, but hoping that a Mafex version gets made at some point..)
Magneto next please. I am surprised they did the training suit pinless arms, which may or may not be reused again since they seem specific to Wolverine. And now he has new bare arms that are pinless
I have had a ton of trouble trying to get Wolverine. I was at a book store the other day and since I don’t have a Tiger Stripe Wolverine, so I wanted that figure. Out of the whole wave he was the one they didn’t have. I have Magneto and plan on getting Bishop. I would’ve gotten Bishop there, but he was $30, and I can buy him cheaper on other places. Wolverine, though I would pay $30 for, since he’s sold out everywhere.
awesome figure bub, my wish list is for Sabretooth and Cable. I think the previous "97 inspired" marvel legends like Apocalypse, Spiral, Mojo, Silver Samurai etc.. should go really well with this line
I prefer mine unmasked with no claws to switch thangs up. The unmasked head is pretty nice considering how Hasbro struggles with Wolverine head sculpts. Great figure just wish they painted the arm hair
Haha, I was most hyped for Bishop! Wish this Wolverine had the gritting teeth masked head from the VHS pack. Neutral head doesn’t seem as needed since the unmasked head is neutral. Thanks for the review

Seeing the new parts for the legs and ankles is surprising! That forward hinge on the foot is gonna be super helpful for crouching poses, definitely improving one of the weaker aspects of the older Wolverine mold.
Nice figure, I’m glad i didn’t buy the Mafex one. The only thing I don’t like is the hair they painted on his chin! Doesn’t look good. At first I thought it was bad paint application. Other than that, it’s cool..

I'm definitely interested in getting Wolverine and Bishop for sure. Wolverine because he's my favorite xmen character, and I only have his black and light blue wendigo wave version, and I really have wanted a tiger striped wolverine figure, and this one will be my definitive tiger striped wolverine in my collection. And bishop because he is a very interesting character and I'm excited for them and the new show. I'm gonna watch the original before the new one so I can understand what it's about.

Wolverine is an ipgrade, but Im not sure its a needed upgrade for thise that already have a previous version. Of course if you sell off your previous version it will likely pay for this one.
My only issue with wolverine is the lack of an angry head sculpt, like come on, it's wolverine, you gave him TWO plain emotionless faces? Makes no sense

The shade of hair overlapped and looked like he got really hairy arms XD. I would consider him, if he is special and 2 of my favorite super heroes in marvel. He could be on different display. And even if it's solid upgrade I'm still happy I decided to get VHS, the blue is much better, shading does not bother me and angry head, that's all I need. Next I would like to see review of Magneto, cause again I'm considering buying him, but don't know how to feel about red gloves instead of purple, and no Erik head, and no magnetic effects.

One of the reasons I liked the first appearance wolvie was the color scheme (bright yellow, cyan). Stands out on the shelf. This one looks similar
I wish they would have also included the vhs head with new paint work. It just seems odd to have a wolverine that can’t look enraged
