    Did you pick up the whole Evergreen rebuild kit off of eBay/Amazon? I’m looking at getting the Evergreen or DNJ to rebuild a b18 soon and can’t find much good about them. Most complaints were about the timing belt and like the one below, bearings not lasting.
    I have a feeling piecing together and full kit would be pretty cost prohibitive. I’m only doing the rebuild for hobby purposes and I don’t know the engine history at all.

    • @MooreProjects
      @MooreProjects  Před 2 lety +1

      I used the entire kit from eBay. Minus the rear main seal and the head gasket. I used a felpro head gasket and rear main. Everything has been doing great for us. I’ll do an update video for you. We’ve had it running for over a year and 10,000 miles so far

    Do any parts need to be swapped out for JDM vs USDM motors? I ready something somewhere about needing to swap the fuel pumps/oil pans.

    • @MooreProjects
      @MooreProjects  Před 2 lety +1

      If you bought a JDM engine then you need to swap oil pumps with a USDM one so that you can use the Crankshaft Position Sensor. Or you can use it like it is and do a Crank Sensor bypass at the ECU. There is two wires you have to jump. Doesn’t effect how it runs either

    • @masonday__
      @masonday__ Před 2 lety

      @@MooreProjects I have to change the oil pan anyways and have the USDM car i’m swapping this engine into with a good pan so I’ll just change the pump to USDM. Are there any other parts to swap or look out for?

    • @MooreProjects
      @MooreProjects  Před 2 lety +1

    Good video but weren’t you suppose to gap the rings.. like push the rings down the cylinder and check the gap and file the rings if necessary?

    • @MooreProjects
      @MooreProjects  Před 2 lety +1

      You are correct. I didn’t check the gap of the rings. I wish I would have. But I have put 10,000 miles on the engine and just did a dry compression test on it last week and it has 130psi on all cylinders. So they are still doing good. But if I were to do another rebuild I would definitely check the gap on the rings

    • @MooreProjects
      @MooreProjects  Před 2 lety

      Plastigage is more of a reference. All I used it for was to make sure it compressed and had a slight amount of clearance and not too tight. Since they were aftermarket bearing I was using instead of Honda bearing. So far no issues whatsoever. Very satisfied.

    • @MooreProjects
      @MooreProjects  Před 3 lety +1

      Christopher Martin I believe you only need to add sealant at 4 spots. On both sides of the crankshaft portions of the oil pan. I’ve noticed that most of the oil pans get over torqued very easily and that’s why they always leak.
