    Who would have ever thought that watching a little float disappear under the water would entertain the human race as much as it does😂. Nice video Fray!

    RiverRoe out of the Cleveland area makes beads that are pretty popular locally.

    I was watching an egg cure video for firebrine and one of the colors was blue. The guy said that blue can be crucial because steelies can see that color really well during that time of thier life i.e the run. So it's nice to see some more explanations and usage of the blue. Top notch work Fray keep on slayin

    Nailed it on the bead analogy! No one bead is better then another! It’s customer service for me’ and I used to think I needed 100 different colors’ now I litterly use 3 different basic colors’ I’ll even sharpie red blood dots on them sometimes

    Fray I love your videos, been watching for the past three years and oh man you are still my number #1 steelhead youtuber. You should try swinging the fly when you find a stacked pool to yourself, the aggression the fish have is something else and I’m sure it would make amazing yt footage like you fishing that black leech in clear water for those cohos a few years ago

    Try a piece of toothpick to peg your softies I have done it with soft and quarkies it works just enough tension to keep to current from pulling on the bead but do you let them slide for the hook set or is it still pegged after the bite

    You know the raven super soft the red pack
    The smallest shot in that pack is like .15 g I usually just peg soft beads with that I’m over using bobber stops and the glass 3mm bead bs also been saying the same thing about glass beads themselves for years

    Hi Fray. Great informational video. I just placed an order with Shadow Fly for some of their soft beads. I am curious about their soft beads being tough enough to stay put on the leader above the hook with out a stop. I have been fishing both hard beads and soft beads for summer and winter steelhead here in Oregon with really good success for a number of years now. I have an extensive selection of both hard and soft beads (way more than I really need, but you know how fishermen like to have plenty of tackle on hand) so these new beads will be added to my collection and I am anxious to try them out. Keep up with your great videos. They are awesome!

      Out here in the Pacific Northwest we use B& R soft beads for salmon and steelhead and they come with a clear stopper for the bead to keep it in place.

    • @FishFray
      @FishFray  Před rokem +1

      Hope they work out for you, I have been getting a few fish on them! Still love hard beads though

      @@Cs-dt7eh I fish B&R beads as well as Elevated Fishing and Clear Drift soft beads, but with stops. Not as easy to change out colors when using stops. Being able to slide a soft bead over the hook and having it stay in place with out a stop three fingers above the hook sounds interesting to me.

    Never understood why people think you have to rig a soft bead on the line with a bobber stop. Just hook them and fish them like that. We are fishing for Steelhead with the brain the size of a peanut. I love acrylic beads pegged but soft beads belong on a hook IMO.

    • @FishFray
      @FishFray  Před rokem

      That's a good point, I just don't like how they end up on the bend of the hook. Back when I used to fly fish a lot and when I guided fly anglers I used a ton of soft beads glued onto hooks with great success

    • @shadowflyfishing
      @shadowflyfishing Před rokem

      We will have tiny plastic "egg stops" available on the site in the next few days. The only purpose for these is so that the hook eye isn't smashing against the soft plastic every hook set. You thread the egg, slide the egg stop onto the line below the egg, and then tie on the hook. The egg and the stop can be slid back down and rest against the eye of your hook. It hides the entire hook when it is drifting down the current anyways. I used this method in Erie last week and must have hooked 50-70 lake run bows and only used a few eggs. It was a good run of fish. 12mm was killing. You can also super glue our soft eggs to a hook with thread and they are almost indestructible. Our plastic is extremely hard without being a bead. Great video Fray!
