It's about clearing common tactical positions. To sova ult effectively, the player need to consider many things and not hurting the teammate wasn't high on his list.
Plus he gets very little duration for the three charges and he's movement is very limited, so it's the teammates fault to come in the way of the Sova ult or more of a communication/timing issue
