I like what they're doing with this, very cool. Crossplay will obviously not happen if they're changing the way certain agents fundamentally work on one version vs the other. I was in Apex during the incessant controller vs Mouse debates and it was the most toxic thing in all of gaming. The key mistake respawn made was giving one input aim assist in the same lobbies as people with no aim assist which is obviously the worst thing you could ever do. The truth is controllers are very usable even in tac shooters. There have been radiant people on controller in valorant and that one guy was winning 1v1s against some of csgos top players. It takes more effort, but controllers arent the massive compromise people think. Controllers highlighted two ways in which PC players handicap themselves in aiming. 1. Controller players do most of the heavylifting with their strafing. This is something really hard to program into a mouse brained player. 2. Controller players at high level make great use of having very very large sensitivity differences between ads and non ads. There were SO MANY moments in apex when a controller player would fry someone on PC with superior tracking and then the PC player would RAGE about how they have no talent and aim assist did everything. But the truth is much more to do with the fact that the controller player set their ADS sens like 35% lower than their normal sens which would be sacrilegious on mouse. Most mouse and keyboard players tend to way over-fling when they track but will refuse to lower their sens so their arm doesnt get exhausted This last point is so implicit in the way this new valorant is designed theyre making it a whole "focus mode." But if they didnt do that you would see a lot of adsing on really low senses with a valorant or phantom Also I guarantee they're doing this for a handheld port.

If anything can be taken from Overwatch it’s that not having crossplay was the best idea. Even the two communities are wary of it and like it cuz they don’t mix, and , imo, console has always been way more toxic of a community than kbm, at least in ovewatch it was when I played.

Turning a flash and turning back has ALWAYS been a skill. On mouse it isn't always that simple, EVERYONE flicks wide and back and HAS to micro adjust. the same exact sequence as you described on the controller

If there are pro duelist mains who are inflexible (or at least inflexible that their other duelist roles are not as good as their most comfortable agent), that pro will be forced to play a different role or will be kicked/benched. We have seen this when Jett and Chamber were top of the meta and when they got nerfed. Pros had to change what they normally play, or their team lost or they were benched or kicked. With as few slots as there are on pro teams, if Neon ends up truly becoming so good that not playing Neon is actively detrimental at the high levels, pros will have to adapt one way or another. There are always upcoming pros who are either more flexible or are simply very good at the agent that has become very good.
