Thanks for the review. The transflective display really helps in bright sunlight when it will be a lot brighter than OLED displays etc. This isn't true when inside a car or building, as shown in this video. It is also great having the display always on, not turning on and off like OLED. I have the original BIP and am happy with its display, with the exception of some text being really small. I hope the new software on the BIP S avoids tiny text!

Been rocking my original Bip for a while now and thinking if the Bip S is a good upgrade? I had my fare share of expensive smart watches in the past and the Bip is by far my favourite, once a month charging and the simplicity is why I like it. Upgrading from the Bip to Bip S will probably only minor update but for the price, cant go wrong.

Love to see if there's any usability improvements over the original Amazfit Bip's like for like functionality.
For example if you start stopwatch and timer on the original, you can't multitask and move to clock / weather.
If I'm on an outdoor run and I want to pause for exactly 30 seconds, I have to count those 30 seconds in my head.
Need details on thet display. Is it good enough for outdoor visibility? How does it compare with GTS for the always on display? Does the watch support raise to wake and instand touch for activating display? Or do I have to always press the button to do that? How strong is the vibrantion?

As for the watchface, I know which one you're talking about but because the display is so small, it is not able to show weekly weather forecast, only daily. Hope this helps!

I'm not fan of rectangular watches and i LOVE amoled display. But the features in Bip S are very tempting.
In your opinion Lim, Bip S or Verge Lite?
Thanks man! If you ask me, I would go with the Verge Lite simply because it has an AMOLED display. I'm not a huge fan of the transflective display because under low to medium brightness, it's visibility is a little challenging. Furthermore, the Verge Lite's display is much larger making it easier to read notifications on the watch itself. Pricing is also a main factor here. The Verge Lite is $20 more than the BIP S from where I'm from. To me that is a not too much and I'm willing to pay the extra. Hope this helps!

They work like the BIP but every time a new notification comes in, it'll still buzz and you get to see a glimpse of it.

I wish he tested bluetooth range. I have the BIP and the bluetooth range is horrible. It must be within 1m of the phone for it to work. My phone can be charging on my table about 1.5-2m away and the watch disconnects (on and off, vibrating non-stop) when I'm sleeping. If I turn and sleep with my back facing the phone, the watch disconnects as well. If my phone is in my right back pocket, watch on left hand, it also disconnects about 20% of the time.

You are right about that. According to Amazfit the other modes will be updated in a future firmware update. For now, yours is same as mine.

Hi Lim, great review as always. I bought BIP S about 5 days ago (thanks to your review) and I found it excellent except one issue: screen readability. Actually, sometimes I need glasses to see/read tiny text, but during running, I simply don't use glasses. The text is small and dim on BIP S and I cant read steps count or distance covered. Now I am thinking that should I go for GTS? a new watch is required anyway. I am a bit skeptical after learning from your review that GPS on GTS is laggy. Any suggestions? Do you think display will be much readable on GTS when compared with BIP S? Many thanks again.
Hey man, guess what, I absolutely agree with you on the screen readability part. It's small and is really dim. Also you can't set the time for the display's backlight to go out (possible on other Amazfit watches) and it goes away in like 2-3 seconds which is kinda annoying. Actually, what do you really need from a smartwatch? If you want the best performing Amazfit watch, I will recommend the T-Rex. It has the best performance out of all. As for the GTS, it's good and not that laggy to be a deal breaker, but GPS might take a little white to get locked on. Also not a big deal for me.

@@LimReviews is the GPS lock on faster on the Bip S than on the GTS? I have the Bip, I just bought the GTS, but I find the orange text in workout mode harder to read than on the Bip. I wonder if I should return it and get the Bip S for swimming in the ocean or just keep the GTS.

Great! Is it suitable for the elders? The word is big enough? Btw, may I know that will the watch snooze or maybe beep when there's a coming call?
I won't really recommend this for elders. For elders, go with the Haylou LS01 smartwatch. The display on the BIP S is a little difficult to see. As for incoming calls, yes, the watch will vibrate when a call is received.

Go for GTS if you have extra cash, if your budget is tight go for bip s.
Hi, I have already watched some of your videos hoping to choose the right watch but honestly I'm not ready yet. I am especially looking for a watch for Indoor swimming with the possibility to also stream music to a Bluetooth headset. Can you give advice?
Hello Tim, for indoor swimming, most of the watches by Amazfit is able to track that, even the Mi Band 4. However, to stream music to headset, you'll need a smartwatch that has internal memory to store songs in it (eg. Amazfit Stratos) or smartwatches with Android Wear OS :)

Hello! I'll be covering heart rate accuracy in the full review and usually I cross check it against an Omron blood pressure monitor.

@@edderepa9685 hello, i got the bip s for few days now so i'm testing it. I'm from Italy and my version gives (for now) just 6 sports mode. Talking about sport mode is really fake as the mi band I had. Truth is that they make excitement about the biosensor etc but it's good just if you are in a low-mid range (max 120bpm i say). The other day I was training and the maximum i got from the bip was 150bpm (for just 2 mins) when I really was at 170-175bpm (for almost 20 mins), so all the percentage infos about warming up, burning fat etc are unreal (after 30 mins of intense workout you will get a 2% of "warming up heart rate zone for example) so of course is not a sportwatch but when you get all that advertising for the sports mode, for the heart rate sensor etc you expect something better. Naps are the same as the miband as well (it won't calculate naps but just night sleep). Yes it's light, little and nice to see but it remains a bigger mi band and nothing else. Overall i think it's very delusional. Wait mi band 5 where you'll have more sports mode (with the same very low accuracy at high frequency and finally a NFC module). Cheers PS: battery is very good but it will be the band's too.

Not sure about those 2 as I don't use them. I would assume it'd work with most music players.

But they didn't mention that such battery life is calculated using 24/7 heart rate sensor. Hope I can know about it when you have finished full review. Cheers!
Hello Thiha! According to Amazfit, the 40-day battery life is based on: factory default dial, running once a week for half an hour, 100 notifications per day, default brightness 10%. This doesn't include the 24/7 heart rate sensor. I am expecting about 20-30 day battery life on typical use. I think thats good enough because as long as it lasts a couple of weeks, it doesn't really matter anymore :)

Hey man - thanks! Anyway, no idea how you're able to fly in due to the country being in lockdown mode BUT! If you do come over, your best bet is purchasing it online via Lazada/Shopee. It'll take 1-2 days to deliver. It's highly unlikely that you will actually find the latest BIP S in Mi Stores. PS: The price here is RM250, don't let anyone rip you off!

Hi lim. I was wondering if amazefit bip A1608 is the same with the "normal" Amazefit Bip. Trying to look around for more information on Google, but I ended up more confuse. 😅 Secondly, do you know any local stores selling Amazefit Bip S? Or any local online stores that carry it. Hello Simon, I'm not sure what the code stands for. It might be to show if the watch is an International Version or Chinese Version. My BIP S is labeled A1821. As for local stores, this might be sold in Xiaomi Stores. If you can't find them there, your only option is to buy online. I did leave a link in description which you can check out. Cheers!

Hello Pavan, if you're looking at the BIP, you might as well just go with the BIP S as the pricing is much lesser than the outgoing BIP.

Hello! Honestly it's been updated a couple of times now and is not as laggy as some might think. However, if you're talking about smartphone level smoothness, that's pretty much not possible on most Amazfit smartwatches. I personally think it's smooth enough for daily use such as swiping through menus, selecting activity modes, etc. It's not a smartphone after all hehe.

Hey Dave, it's not better than the GTS if you ask me. The only thing it wins the GTS is battery life. Other than that, if budget wasn't an issue, I'd still go with the GTS :)

It depends on your budget. All the models you mentioned are durable. Have been using my GTS especially for 6 months now - no issues whatsoever.

Nope the only difference is the international version dosen't start off in English but it turns to English when you connect your phone.
