Sadly the US only react 100% when a war hurts Americans. There is no war besides of Iraq and Afghanistan where USA has reacted quickly. The norm is 2 years at least. European NATO members came to help USA under the first use of article 5 but today Europe see its largest ally pulling away. As a Norwegian I know how dependent we have been of USA's military bases stationed in our country but now we have to plan for a different and uncertain future where The Nordic countries and Europe has to become militarily independent from USA and start ramping up our own military inventions and production. Conservative estimate: In addition to many hundreds of FABs, Ruscia spent 20K combatants and 400 vehicles taking 29 km². Let's say Ruscia already holds 20% of Ukraine's 603,700 km², then 480,000 km² remains. Assuming that Ukraine would "fold" if 290,000 km² were seized, then at *Avdiivka's rate* that would cost Ruscia 20K x 10,000 combatants = 200M combatants plus 400 x 10,000 vehicles = 4M vehicles. Obviously, it's easier to seize fields, but Ukraine cannot be taken if Russian losses are even a tenth of those in Avdiivka.
Except that not every position is as strongly fortified as Avdiivka was. Avdiivka was actually the most fortified position on the entire front line. And that is why it is such a significant victory for the Russians. From now on, things can go downhill very quickly for Ukraine.

Here's some more perspective. With Russian casualties now over 400,000 they incurred around a quarter of that just in taking Avdiivka and Bakhmut. The next fortress city is Chasiv Yar that's been prepared even better than Avdiivka, and you can bet that there's more cities that are being prepared as fall-back positions. With estimates ranging up to 20:1 casualty ratios in Ukraine's favour fighting on the defense, at least for now, is probably the best way for Ukraine to grind down Russia until the UA has the advantage in equipment to flip this around and put Russia on the backfoot. When Russian milbloggers start reporting more and more stories like this hopefully the attitude within Russia will change as well.

And in all of this timeframe which has been around 6 months now we have not passed the aid to Ukraine and Ukrainians are dying. There's only one side playing political games here. The withdrawal was a good move . Ukraine bled them out and got out and saved a lot of Ukrainian lives . Now they can regroup and deploy those troops to other areas
People keep on saying that Avdiivka was some major defeat for Ukraine, but the entire war aside from their first counterattack has pretty much been Ukraine slowly giving ground while making Russia disproportionately pay for it. Taking territory isn’t holding territory, the more they take is more ground that their supply lines need to stretch across (which they weren’t doing well with at the start) and at the rate that troops keep being poured into this meat grinder there won’t be enough left to hold onto those gains, much less conquer the remaining majority of the country.
Ukraine falling back on defense is not a defeat , it’s a pause to regroup many militaries have done this throughout history, f16s can make a huge difference in Ukrainian troops protection

Concerning the enemy losses in Avdiivka I did read a report that stated the enemy were losing 650 KIA/WIA per day also more than 200tanks more than 400 troop carriers in 4 months , insane as this sounds that’s 78thousand casualties! Conservative estimate: In addition to many hundreds of FABs, Ruscia spent 20K combatants and 400 vehicles taking 29 km². Let's say Ruscia already holds 20% of Ukraine's 603,700 km², then 480,000 km² remains. Assuming that Ukraine would "fold" if 290,000 km² were seized, then at *Avdiivka's rate* that would cost Ruscia 20K x 10,000 combatants = 200M combatants plus 400 x 10,000 vehicles = 4M vehicles. Obviously, it's easier to seize fields, but Ukraine cannot be taken if Russian losses are even a tenth of those in Avdiivka.
Except that not every position is as strongly fortified as Avdiivka was. Avdiivka was actually the most fortified position on the entire front line. And that is why it is such a significant victory for the Russians. From now on, things can go downhill very quickly for Ukraine.

Here's some more perspective. With Russian casualties now over 400,000 they incurred around a quarter of that just in taking Avdiivka and Bakhmut. The next fortress city is Chasiv Yar that's been prepared even better than Avdiivka, and you can bet that there's more cities that are being prepared as fall-back positions. With estimates ranging up to 20:1 casualty ratios in Ukraine's favour fighting on the defense, at least for now, is probably the best way for Ukraine to grind down Russia until the UA has the advantage in equipment to flip this around and put Russia on the backfoot. When Russian milbloggers start reporting more and more stories like this hopefully the attitude within Russia will change as well.

Then within a matter of weeks he said actually border funding has to be tied to it. Then the senate took him seriously and got to work on a bill while he sat on his hands. Once that bill arrived he said it's dead on arrival and additionally republican congressman said they didn't actually want a border bill at all so Trump could campaign on the issue. And in all of this timeframe which has been around 6 months now we have not passed the aid to Ukraine and Ukrainians are dying. There's only one side playing political games here. Why do Ukrainians have to die while the GOP figures out what it actually wants in return for doing the right thing and aiding our allies?

I think this withdrawal could be seen as an answer to concerns over Sirski's appointment and fears that he would expend Ukrainian lives unnecessarily. I still hope the change in command is a net positive overall.
The withdrawal was a good move . Ukraine bled them out and got out and saved a lot of Ukrainian lives . Now they can regroup and deploy those troops to other areas
People keep on saying that Avdiivka was some major defeat for Ukraine, but the entire war aside from their first counterattack has pretty much been Ukraine slowly giving ground while making Russia disproportionately pay for it. Taking territory isn’t holding territory, the more they take is more ground that their supply lines need to stretch across (which they weren’t doing well with at the start) and at the rate that troops keep being poured into this meat grinder there won’t be enough left to hold onto those gains, much less conquer the remaining majority of the country.
The population in Avdiivka is (was) 1/10th of that of Kherson and 1/100th of Kyiv.
Ukraine falling back on defense is not a defeat , it’s a pause to regroup many militaries have done this throughout history, f16s can make a huge difference in Ukrainian troops protection
The British evacuated 330,000 from Dunkirk. These troops were vital in defeating hitler.

Concerning the enemy losses in Avdiivka I did read a report that stated the enemy were losing 650 KIA/WIA per day also more than 200tanks more than 400 troop carriers in 4 months , insane as this sounds that’s 78thousand casualties! Incredible yes but break it down 18500 losses per month now that seems low whatever the number is , its staggering Ukraine have administered total devastation on the enemy 🇺🇦🇬🇧✌️

The west thought that they could supply ukraine with enough so ukraine wouod not lose but not enough to win, not realizing that ukraine had to win or it would lose. The main battle tanks should have been sent over one year ago and at much higher number. ukraine does not have the number needed to win. F16 planes were also needed one year ago. Himmers was a game changer until russia relocated depots and command places. The long range himmars were and are needed. Ukraine has done a fantastic job inspite of the reluctance of the west to let Ukraine win.
Swedish politicians are now saying straight out that UA needs to win, and Z lose. We'll see if other countries start doing the same.
