Fry knowing who Ken Penders is makes sense since he's shown to be well-versed in his comics, and Penders' Sonic run started in 1993.
And funnily enough, Penders' run ended in 1999. The same year Fry got sent into the future.
That means he doesn’t know how Ken Penderecki ended up in the modern day.

Yes I am willing to admit the game is shitty in a number of ways. But it was made by god damn BioWare! They had too little time to make it… and tbh. The visuals and sound are a bit rough… but it’s one of the most unique RPGs I’ve ever played and I’ve ran through it numerous times
