इंसानों ने शुरुआत से ही दुनिया को समझने के लिए नक्शे बनाने शुरू कर दिए थे. नदी, पहाड़ और यहां तक कि ब्रह्मांड की सटीक तस्वीर समझने के लिए वैज्ञानिक नक्शे बनाते रहे हैं. लेकिन बीते कुछ दशकों से वैज्ञानिक मानव ढांचे को सटीक तरह से समझने के लिए नक्शे बना रहे हैं. 1990 में छह देशों के वैज्ञानिकों ने मानव जीन कैसे काम करते हैं, इसे समझनेे के लिए 'ह्यूमन जीनोम प्रोजेक्ट' शुरू किया था. लगभग दस साल में ही उन्होंने कई कामयाबियां हासिल की. उनके प्रोजेक्ट से मिली जानकारियों का इस्तेमाल चिकित्सा क्षेत्र में किया जाने लगा. लेकिन कई अनसुलझे अभी भी मौजूद हैं, सेल कैसे बनते हैं, कैसे काम करते हैं. इस हफ़्ते दुनिया जहान में इसी बात की पड़ताल कि ह्यूमन सेल एटलस क्या है?
