I grew up in pretty main stream Evangelical churches and I really wish people understood how prevalent Zionism is. My grandparents gave thousands of dollars to Israel and resettlement programs because they believed that all the Jews needed to return to Israel so that Jesus could return. I remember seeing presentations about how they needed to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque so that the Temple could be rebuilt. I remember an Orthodox Jewish lady coming to my Bible College to tell us to support resettlement programs. It's so disturbing.
Yet these so call Jewish people are poot eastern European Jewish people.
I definitely want more people to understand what Christian Zionism is- and also what it isn't.
I have seen too much discourse that assumes that anyone who is both Christian and Zionist is a Christian Zionist. The problem is that making this assumption ignores the specific theology involved.
Plus, of course, it's simply an inaccurate application of the term.
See the thing is. Jews don't even like Christians. They deem them as idol worshippers since Jews don't believe in Jesus whatsoever. Find it baffling that Christians can support people who despise the most significant person in their faith. But Christians will hate Muslims despite Muslims holding jesus in a high regard.

Sounds like animal sacrifice, something Americans associate with brutal primitive tribal societies, not modern religions. So I find it odd that anyone sees this as a sort of acceptable practice by what is seen as 'the most moral society' or 'only democracy in the middle east'. Seems pretty odd that anybody thinks it's a good idea to restore the tradition of animal sacrifice in modern society. i mean, perhaps you could argue it never ended, since we now sacrifice animals daily at the altar of Science. One could argue that human savagery never ended just got better at covering up the nasty parts
It actually makes sense that it's technically not a sacrifice: It's a purification ritual. The idea seems to be that the area is unclean and must be cleaned through this procedure. Presumably, the animals themselves become tainted (unclean) in the process and therefore unfit for godly consumption. This contrasts with the sacrifices they used to do in the Temple. In their case, the idea was that God is somehow offered the animals, as something like spiritual food. (Of course what really happened was that the Temple had the monopoly on slaughtering animals, and the priests got their parts of the animals for the service. This was a replacement for tax at the time when the Jews had been granted religious freedom but not political freedom. It is also the likely reason why pork was forbidden: Pigs were widespread among poor people, but the privileged didn't want to eat pork. So the priests had no interest in slaughtering pigs, but they also didn't want to make an exception for pigs, which would have created a tax loophole.)

Correction for Bassem & Mehdi: Al-Aqsa Mosque refers to the entire complex within the walls, including the Dome of the Rock, Al-Qibali Mosque, and other structures. It's not just one specific building, but the entire sacred area.

Having been raised as a practicing evangelical Christian, all the things being expressed by Hagee and the like are completely normalized and representative of the doctrinal beliefs I was taught and how they should affect my worldview.

Here's something I'm really happy to see discussed. I studied religion in college that was my under grad degree. There were lots of discussions about how religion impacted politics, but very few about how politics impacted religion. This is politics elevating fringe religious ideologies and making them mainstream. Then mainstream religions adopt them as THE ideology. I know neither of these gentlemen are religious scholars but I do appreciate them highlighting how religion is hijacked by politicians.
