Damn he had 3 different impact guns lol. Money man!
Flexing on us all
Ford keeps him
Fat
He does work in a pretty big shop
Doing this for a living probably helps
So you don’t have to change sockets every time.
I think that was the easiest fix I've seen on a Ford. I was expecting the dash to be completely apart.
😆
Nah they were not able to fit those particular parts behind the dash on that model lol
Or the cab off the frame 😂
🤣😂🤣😅😂
Ya had to pull the bed and the cab for quick adjustment on the steering, no big deal.
He is the man of Fords
And that's a good thing?
@@ricos4700 you can't deny that he knows what he's talking about
@garyforestier1118 Yeah, but all that knowledge wasted on a Ford.
@@ricos4700 lol I hear ya.
@ricos4700 did your girl leave you for a guy with a mustang?😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😅😅😅
Up is the right way. That's how I always remember which direction the steering wheel will move when adjustment is made
Upety tightety downdety loosety
Best tip yet because instead of complaining you were a fixing! Stay positive! And yes us OEM engineers don’t really care about service or repair. We design for assembly not disassembly.
Seems like shitty ass backwards engineering to me. But I guess long gone are the days of reliability, durability, and repairability.
@@claytommn006what makes it worse is it’s designed for assembly and the damn factory union feels the assembly workers need more money for their easy robot assisted job yet we get screwed with the design and the damn pay
Yes and it shows.
Pathetic really
@@claytommn006 are you some special kind of stupid? Like one of those old morons that talks about how "they dont make em like they used to" as if he cant remember his old pieces of shit broke down every few months. This is a solid front axle, it is the same as it has been for a very, very long time.
Kimball Midwest penetrating oil smells like cherries and strawberries. So damn good
The old version smelled like pina colada. It was beautiful.
It increases sales, because then you'll use waaaay more than you need. At least that how I was with it.
Unfortunately tastes no better than the cotton candy they put in walls. Don't know why they still make that stuff if it's so nasty and itchy
Their brake clean smells like Inca Cola or bubblegum. It’s like they want you to sniff the brake clean lol
@@kevinm.n.5158 agreed. Super nice to breathe in too. Like aromatherapy
No seat belts were hurt making this video
Man you make all this stuff look easy, you a good mechanic 👌👌👍👍🤓
because this is easy and can literally be done in your yard in 5 minutes.
It's really easier than changing your oil.
he’s not a mechanic he’s a technician
Bro .. I live in Michigan where the potholes will have that steering wheel shaking and rocking back and forth like Micheal J Fox. We don't ever see our steering wheel straight. 🤣
Yup and you always wonder when you see someone all over the road, are they drunk? Or dodging potholes?
If your steering wheel is “shaking and rocking band forth like Michael J Fox” then you need to go to a mechanic, your car is fu*ked up
@@sonylistonsghost you ever been to Michigan? 🤣😅
@@sonylistonsghost the second you cross the boarder it's bounce house Shakey shake time. It ain't the truck. It's these Michigan roads. Come visit sometime. It's a blast... Bring 2 or 3 spare tires with ya though. You'll need'em
@@sonylistonsghost Bro doesnt understand having the worst roads possible lmao, here in Washington they are hella bad too, even my jeep all my electronics get fucked and stops my radio on the freeway the damn road is SO bad
I personally have beef with this as when you now move to the left lane or fast lane your wheel will probably be off due to road crown, as thats what youre compensating for on the right side with this fix.
It definitely depends on how your vehicle sits on its suspension, as some are more affected by it than others. Hell, some are so bad that an uneven road will jerk the steering wheel back and forth.
I thought he was just setting the steering wheel neutral, not messing with the alignment.
@groverw7507 he's just adjusting the steering wheel angle. It was set for a flat level surface. Now it is set for a road which has an angle to it. If he drives on an actually flat surface or not on the right side, the wheel will be crooked like it was before. The slight crookedness was just from road compensation.
Doesn’t bother me. Don’t sweat the petty stuff, and don’t pet the sweaty stuff!
But when it's this easy it's not a sweat.
But I like petting the sweaty stuff

@@Dysan72 or…. Keep driving
Kimble Midwest some of the best sprays and they smell good so customers won’t complain
Bro fit snap on dewalt and Mac all in one video lmao bro loves going on the tool truck
Mac tools are Dewalt, but in red.
Going right back to the last shop that did the alignment.
Every car does this I've ever been in
Yes and the reason for it is so the vehicle will naturally drift toward the ditch and not into oncoming traffic.
This guy's fix is dangerous.
Now you need a front end alignment!!!
Not on that type of steering. The other rod that goes between both front wheels sets the total toe. The arm that he adjusted doesnt change tyre wear.
You know not what you speak of, Robert.
@@cmclaughlan01 What he has adjusted is the tie rod length which will adjust toe and therefore your wheel alignment. The relay rod which connects the tie rods isn’t adjustable. Both tie rods should be of equal length. The correct way to align your steering wheel is to pull the wheel off the steering shaft and reposition it on the the mounting spline in the correct orientation.
@@0nlyinStrayadid you even watched the short? He adjusted the tie rod END no the tie rod in itself that connects both wheels, pulling the steering wheel it's a shade tree mechanic move, and won't work here because now the steering is correct but the Steering Wheel Angle sensor is a few degrees off
@@juanmanuelgil3436 What he adjusted was the adjustment sleeve which connects the inner tie rod to the tie rod end. It’s the way to adjust toe in on most older vehicles. The steering angle sensor is located in the steering column and won’t generally be affected by removal of the steering wheel.
Set the toe let it go 😂😂. I did this every time someone lifted their truck ?
Great tip !!
Only if they cheap out and don't get the drop pitman arm...or bent the link.
Still might need to have the steering wheel angle sensor(SWAS) reset!
Not on fords bro, I know with other vehicles that’s a must but fords do it while you drive 😉
@@carnalse3352I wonder what sensor it gets it's datum point from to know the wheels are pointing straight ahead.
I thought that datum was always manually set
WRONG
The reset is simple on Fords. All it takes is turning the steering wheel lock to lock, then Drive it. Shut it off, and restart. Reset complete.
Would ya just look at it! Sometimes i just sit back and say, "Would you just look at that."
I'm a tech. Doing alignments on these trucks ain't hard to do, but you gotta drive it to set the wheel straight. Every time I align one, I bring my tools with to adjust the steering wheel with me on the test drive, and if it ain't straight I pull onto a neighborhood street, make a quick adjustment, and continue driving.
Now I work at a small shop, with a tiny lobby area that leads directly to the shop. One time, near the end of the day I'm finishing up an alignment with one, and my service advisor who is also part owner tells me to park it up front by the door when I'm done. So I go out on my test drive with my impact, a pry bar, my big 3/8 ratchet, and the special 3/8 adapter for turning those sleeves. I had to jump out once to adjust it, whatever I get back to the shop and park it right in front of the door so the customer doesn't have to walk far. Then there I go, through the lobby right in front of the customer and my advisor/boss carrying all these tools and I hand over the keys and say it's all good. I walk into the back to get all my tools put away and wrap the rest of my stuff up and go home.
Next morning, boss man pulls me aside and was like "hey wtf did you have your tools for are you out there adjusting it all willy nilly?" And then our shop foreman and I had to explain to him how it's basically impossible to get the wheel straight on the alignment rack. He still didn't understand fully, but told me to not jump out of a customer's car with a bunch of tools right in front of them since it makes us look unprofessional. Still joke with him about it saying I'll go do my alignments during the test drive
How can I do that with an 02 RAM with rack and pinion
"LOOK ATHOW PERFECT THAT IS!"
Steering wheel: *unchanged*
still a lil to the left...my ocd is definitely still triggered lol jk..... kinda😂🤣😂🤣 love the videos btw keep it up👏🏻👍🏻
Actually, doing that changes your Toe-In which changes your tire wear, not your steering wheel placement. Mainly Caster needs adjustment but even before that, you need to make sure your tires are all equally worn and pressurized and all suspension joints and linkages are nice and snug. Removing as little as 5 lbs from the left front tire can cause drifting toward the left due to increased friction.
"Does it drive you crazy? It does me" i thought he was saying He was either getting screwed by the Embodiement of crazy or boinking his truck 😂
Love the vids
Damn Nolan became a mechanic
Oh thank god. My life has been saved. This is what the internet is for. This right here.
My Tahoe is the same way. Drives me nuts!
Pre airbag days Id pull the steering wheel and move it a spline or 2
Same, same 03 or a 23
And you would be wrong, good job.
@@MWilk098 What's the difference, total toe doesn't change in either case. Just the alignment of the steering wheel.
@@thewatcher611 steering wheel splines are an imprecise adjustment, with 30 splines you get 12 degrees of movement for each spline. When the wheel is off on average less than 10 degrees, you can’t make that better by doing it wrong.
Wrong fix, the problem started in the front end not the steering wheel. Can't do that with new trucks because the steering wheel sensor will know it's off
I've been driving F350 for the last 13 years off road in all types of weather and terrain. Over crane mats and in mud. Trucks with 150k miles and they've all driven straight and solid. They've always passed the test. And the interior has held up excellently.
I was expecting you to sarcastically take the cab off 😂
No, that's for an oil change, because that's about how often you stick a valve or turbo vanes.
'A convenient and simple fix got it'
Would ya look at that, just look at it
You just fvcjed your alignment up.
How so? Total toe did not change, that's what wears tires.
Bro has an impact for every socket 😭 I wish that was my tool arsenal 😂
What a small bit of detail, but it makes a huge difference.
Thoughts on diesel kleen or other additives for 6.7?
when I get me f250 I'll be sure to remember this.
This is exactly why I use anti seize, especially on drag links and center links. I've seen some small oil leaks take care of these sleeves over the years
I dig your channel kid. You're a stud. Thanks for the info.
i was driving my dads f250 last week and he has this problem, now i can fix it 😂
In my driveway! LOL Proceeds to take it to a shop and HELLA TOOLS 🔧 🤣
That first impact is me after giving my lady the best 2 minutes of her life 💪
You are truly awesome man. An inspiration to keep doing my technician traning and working as hard as i can to learn every possible thing. Currently expert level.
That was slick! I’m going to do that with mine.
That kimball Midwest brings back some memories
Thank you so much, lol, many years ago my truck came back to me after a wheel alignment and that’s the way the steering wheel was.
Wow! He didn’t have to lift the body off of the frame for that repair! Ford engineers must have overlooked that one!
Yeah that won't be that easy for us in Michigan . You'll need a torch lol . Great video
Cant they do this at the factory on a 60,000 dollar car
That kimbell midwest bubble gum flavor😊
THE OLDER TRUCKS HAVE CLASS N STYLE
I had a 2003 6.0L and now a 2014 6.7L and they BOTH did that. HOLY CRAP...! I thought it was in the FOMOCO DNA..😅
Slick man. 🎉
I love these videos, thanks bud.
Love the snap on gun. Hate the suicide socket
Thanks for the pointers, I'll have to remember this, for whenever they let me out the "Lube" tech title
No because I’m paying attention to the road and going with flow.
Did that on my brother's 06 told him it was an easy fix. He didn't think so too me a few mins and bam lol
FINALLY it’s been bugging me so much gonna do this over the weekend
It’s still off!!! Adjust it again.
Ha, thanks for not trying to BS us owners into a multiple hundred dollar repair.
The F250 guru
Don’t have one but I’d be happy you were on YT if I did lol
My driveway definitely has a drive-on lift
Now when you get an alignment, the steering wheel will be turned the other way 😂
THANKS DUDE ! UR ALLRIGHT!!
Was wondering how to do this. Thanks for posting
My 2014 Fusion is the same way. Always just slightly off in the same spot.
Back when I was a tech at a Dodge dealership in the mid 2000's, whenever we did alignments on trucks we would set everything on the alignment rack. And then take your wremches with ya on the test drive so you could center the steering wheel.
You can also take the steering wheel off and reposition it.
Not any longer because of the air bag and there is a alignment pin on it to
@@gregrogers3030 The airbag is no problem, and if it has an alignment pin, that doesn't control anything, it can be bypassed
You forgot about the crown in the road.... Center of the road is higher than the shoulder... When you're on the interstate, when it's pointed straight, it's going to be pulling to the right now...
Then it's 100% straight, you don't align or compensate for the road crown, you align straightened
Great vids man.
Nicely done. Wow that's a dream.
Looks like the same exact setup my 96 f150 had
That was actual helpful...
Thanks. For some reason I figured the tires move
It's identical to my 8th gen 1990 f150
Can you do a short explaining bump steer and steering wheel shaking ?
Fords shop “ that will be 1200 dollars “
This is why I don’t let dealers touch my shit….
I wish this guy was my mechanic
Biggest gripe i used to get as fleet mechanic on brand new Fords were rubbing noise at the steering wheel. Not all of them. It eventually went away, but drivers can be real pita.
Now both wheels are out of alignment 😂
This is what bob summerel tire will do to your vehicle for an alignment. Steering goes in shop straight comes out crooked.
I mean this does work but when you do the alignment on that alignment rack you pulled it onto. You could use the dead man to hold the steering wheel straight and then adjust everything appropriately
You turn it left if you want your steering wheel to the left you turn it right if you want your steering wheel to go right That's how it's done
Wish I knew this when I had my ford
I’m just surprised we didn’t have to pull the cab for this repair
You are the MAN
No but my 2011 ford fusion sport does that, would this still work for my car?
Shit, I was expecting him have to pull the cab
Done quite a bit of mechanic work, I’m afraid to mess with steering though unless it’s an idler arm or something like that. My bro in-law is one of the best mechanics I’ve ever known and he showed me how to do a front end alignment with twine, grease crayons, tape measure, and general tools.
*I still won’t try it. He said not as accurate as with lasers but still pretty good.
I just pop a wheelie real quick and the turn the steering wheel straight before the tires hit the ground
Every Ford pickup leaves the factory out of alignment 🤪
Wow, thanks!
You know how many different alignments Ive had over the years on different vehicles and no one has ever gotten my fucking wheel straight lol
I always have to micro adjust the steering wheel like that. The last 2 vehicles I've done this with are a 18 f150 and a 18 chebby 2500.
I’m gonna have to get a super duty cuzz they comfortable
Ford comes stock misaligned, as a little treat
