I mean, certainly you've seen more recent shows that look to be forward-thinking & inclusive, so they include LGBTQIAP+ (lesbian, gay, [homosexual men/Achillean as well as its more recent usage as a catch-all umbrella term for the LGBTQ+ community in general], bisexual [this encapsulates those who identify as omnisexual & demisexual, also], transgender [those who underwent the sex change from their birth gender to the opposite sex], questioning [those still figuring out their orientation], intersex [those who have both a penis & a vagina due to a genetic birth defect], asexual/aero [those who don't have a sexual attraction to anyone, but can still be romantic] or conversely ace [those who don't have romantic inclinations, but still have a sexual libido], pansexual [basically an enhanced form of bisexuality given its own placement, since those who identify as pan will flirt with anyone who even remotely peaks their interest & seek out those whom they think may consider them attractive], etc.) AND non-binary (non-conforming people who use plural they/them pronouns rather than the gender-defining he/him or she/her pronouns) characters.
Now, although as far as the LGBTQ+ community & their allies are concerned, this is a step in the right direction to allow the world to accept everyone for who they truly are, even certain parts of the LGBTQ+ community itself tends to be divided, because while some don't really see the point in attaching specific identifiers to one's self so these types probably wouldn't necessarily care too much which pronoun is used to define them, others may complain quite vocally if you use the incorrect pronouns or get triggered when their personal head canon doesn't line up with what's been made official pertaining to certain characters (this leads to these disgruntled fans flagrantly disregarding on-screen confirmations -- whether it's mentioned outright or only implied through subtext -- or flatly refusing to abide by the behind-the-scenes "Word of God" ["Word of God" is when the makers of a particular show either affirm or deny speculated aspects of a character's identity outside of the confines of the show in which said character appears], even if what the creators of a show say should be taken as irrefutable fact rather than just mere fan opinion, since they actively created the show & its characters [or, in some reboot's cases, at least the showrunner's new rendition of classic characters anyway, such as when eventual transmasculine showrunner ND Stevenson gave an interview on the BLM stream he put out when he was still identifying as lesbian Noelle pre-transition which stated that every single character on the 2018-2020 Netflix animated reboot of _She-Ra_ isn't straight, whereby Nate Dionne Stevenson basically said that those who watch the 2018-2020 _She-Ra_ should "Just presume all of my characters are LGBTQ+ unless explicitly stated otherwise", because not even the male X female pairs that end up finalized by the end of that specific reboot to the vintage 1985 franchise involve heteronormative characters, as the main two male X female ships on the 2018-2020 _She-Ra_ are comprised of bisexual persons, the 3rd male X female ship is a budding romance blossoming between the 30-year-old autistic tech-sexual/robot-sexual geek princess Entrapta & her scientific "lab partner" Hordak, who was the literally & figuratively broken but eventually fixed & even ultimately redeemed defective clone of the true definitive villain Horde Prime, whereby Hordak once held a strong desire to regain the favor of the intergalactic despot he was initially made in the image of -- after all, Horde Prime used manipulative familial sibling bonding terminology to describe those serving beneath him as part of his cultish ideology -- until Hordak finally defied Horde Prime's will in a brief but still incredibly meaningful "Darth Vader killing Emperor Palpatine" moment of character growth for Hordak in the series finale, yet because of the ingrained programming embedded in him by Horde Prime due to the fact that he's an imperfect clone, Hordak still probably considers himself to be either asexual or aero ace, essentially viewing intimacy or romance in general to be a pointlessly frivolous endeavor until his obvious feelings for Entrapta readily dispel this, whereas the 4th & last-ever male X female coupling is actually part of the canon polycule/polyamorous threesome formed between ex-Horde soldier teammates Kyle X Lonnie X lizard guy Rogelio]).
So, since Pippi identifies as a girl (using standard she/her pronouns), she would be the Queen of Pirates, not King, because King is an official term of rulership handed down or passed onto members of male royal lineage.

I was making a fun reference to One Piece and Pirates of the Caribbean, and in both settings everyone just calls the title "King of the Pirates" regardless of identity or whatever. I grew up on the original Swedish tv series from the late 60's and early 70's, but somehow I happened to watch this once as well, by mistake. It was probably dubbed to Swedish. I remember it as an extremely weird experience; so familiar, but yet so... completely alien?

Many years ago I’d go on week long road trips with my grandmas & their minivan had the built in dvd player. This was one of the movies I’d watch on repeat. I had maybe 4-5 dvd’s I’d switch through so I probably watched it at least 100 times minimum.
