Are you familiar with Buffalo based Gerhard Lang Brewery, Pubs and Butcher Shops 1890-1840? Gerhard is my Great Grandfather on my mother's side. Her mother was Grace Lang his daughter and my mom was Rose Marie Lang Dunlap. Gerhard introduced first trolleys in the city and sat on-the-board of directors Manufacturers and Trust Bank, todays M&T. Any vintagevphotos or films? Is their a Buffalo Historical Society?
Ever thought about doing a video solely on Weihenstephan? I'm suggesting this because it is not only one of the oldest breweries in the world, it also houses the Campus Freising-Weihenstephan, a research and education complex focussed on brewing, microbiology etc. Also almost all the yeast for most of the German breweries (and many international ones) comes from Weihenstephan's labs.
The cascade brewery Hobart Tasmania 1824 Not a bad beer. But my favourite Australian beer is copper's pal ale Don't mind xxxx bitter from Brisbane Got a nice local drop out here in Ipswich called Ipswich Challenger it's only a light 2.9% alcohol sorry I am in to beer I am a bottle shop attendance
weihenstephaner aren't shy when it comes to taking the oldest brewery in the world credit. damn fine beer though, suppose a thousand years of practise will do that. I do drink smithwicks when I'm out for an evening, it's just the whole monopoly they (Guinness) have over here that does my head in.
Weihenstephaner definitely had their marketing down on that, they love their great history. In my beer and taxes video I talk about how Guinness dodged taxes by using flaked and roasted barley which allowed them to lower prices and grow their monopoly to what it is today, might be worth the look :)
Hmmm, apart from the 2 German winners, no mention of Belgian, Austrian, Netherlands, Russia, or English etc breweries much older than Smithwicks in Ireland, or any in Canada or USA. So, really only TWO of the Worlds oldest......and THREE much younger randoms .......
I know... I tried to spread the love around the world a bit but if it were a true oldes list I'd be talking Germany/Chzech Republic/Austria all day haha

Great video! New Zealand's oldest breweries only go back to the mid 1800s and most of those don't produce any decent beer. Cheers Dino

The oldest one in my Fed.State should be the Rothaus Brauerei founded in only 179. It also happens to be fully owned by the state.
